Let's face it. Diablo 2 and its expansion were fun as hell. I move that we all get together, start new characters on ladder US West (NOT OPEN), and play. Maybe use Vent if anyone has one. I already talked to a bunch of people in #vgdj and there's some good interest.

We will be playing on US West LADDER. This is closed, not open.
We will be playing D2X, so you need both Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction to play.
Use mIRC (http://www.mirc.com) or another IRC client to connect to irc.enterthegame.com and join channel #d2ocr - this is our IRC channel and you can bet we will be coordinating stuff there!
All games will be named OCR# with the password vgm. # represents a number, eg. OCR1, OCR2, OCR3 and so forth. Always make games starting with OCR1.
This is primarily a PvM (player vs monster) league, not PvP. Feel free to duel but if you are looking to ONLY duel this is the wrong place. Playing D2 from scratch is lots of fun, and fairly challenging without handouts.Rules
Try to play w/ the group as much as possible - idle on IRC to get in on official games, and of course attend scheduled nights.
Help other people in the league - don't be jerks!!
If you fall far behind, or you joined late, we will try to get you to where we are. However if you are too far behind, you can use any means necessary (eg. rushing from a non-OCR league char) to catch up.
Don't play solo with your league character unless you need to catch up or are completing side-quests (or trading).
If more than 8 league members want to play at any time, the second group can start up a simultaneous second game. Just try to remember who DIDN'T get in the "main" game so they can be rotated in next time.Account List - add these to your friends!

Well, when I checked the competitions forum and thought historically, all the threads there are literally competitions. You know, tournaments of some kind. The chess league, moves league, KoF, Tetris Attack, it's all like that. I am merely proposing that OCR people get together and play this game with one another. I'm calling it a "league" but it really isn't, per se.

We should try to set up certain nights and times to play together - we can do it in this thread. Aside from that, we'll have an IRC channel (probably on enterthegame) so people can talk to eachother, and we'll also have a game name + pass that we consistently use. That way you can just hop online and join the game to play.

Well, I can't find my CD anywhere. I have my Diablo and Diablo II CDs, but the expansion CD has thus far eluded. So, I guess you can count me out for now.

I like the idea, I was just going to start an uber smiter. Few questions though:
1.) Are we only supposed to play these characters when we are all together or can we level them up on our own as well?
2.) I have a bunch of gear that I have legitly gathered for my character. Are we aloud to use items like such or are we only aloud to use what we find?
3.) Are people allowed to join later on, or is it closed after the official first game?
Just to clarify things, this is a "league" that is going to be PvM and not PvP right? What I mean is that the purposes of this league is to level up, become patriarch/matriarchs, kill ubers, etc. not just a duel league. I don't care if people are dueling outside of the main game, I'm just not interested in duels.

edit: I forgot one more question. Can you specify all the software that will be required other than the game (like chat programs and such). Thanks

I'll update the first post with some official rules soon.. but here's what I'm thinking

1) You can play alone and level your char, but you are encouraged to generally stay with the group. Don't get more than one or MAYBE two acts ahead of us. If we're all level 30 in act 3 on normal mode, it wouldn't be as fun if you get to level 60 and you're already on act 4 in nightmare.

2) We are all starting new chars from scratch, therefore no handouts from other characters. This might be subject to change when we get higher level.

3) Yes it will be open to everyone, but again, new characters only. If we are ahead of newcomers we will try to get them up to speed as best as possible. If they are significantly behind they can use whatever means necessary to catch up.

4) This will be PvM. If and when we get to a high level and we feel like doing some dueling, then OK. But the game is pretty challenging especially from scratch. PvM should be more than enough.

5) Diablo 2, Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, mIRC (or similar IRC client), and either Ventrilo or Teamspeak.. haven't decided yet.

personally I like single player/LAN a tad bit better though, if you can get a good group of people together--no worries about account deletion or anything like that. me and my brother had some dammnnn good times going through that game.

this past summer i had the brilliant idea of starting like 10 solo/LAN builds at the same time. brilliant. just plain brilliant. more like a pain in the arse to play through, but even then it still brought back some good times. Haha! That happens to my friends who have Diablo also. Just a couple weeks ago a few of my friends started playing Diablo seriously again and one of them somehow managed to break 2 of the Diablo discs in one day at different times, and he's like never broke a CD before. And my other friend has gone through four or five sets.

Welcome, Zircon's got the link to mIRC on the first post, go ahead and download that, and if you have any questions, ask around in the help forum, they'll set you straight. After that, it seems our first actuall run with our primaries will be Friday night, but we do some informal alt runs for Schnitzengiggles whenever we feel like it. You'll love it here.

To all member of the Diablo II league:

I have made a community mule for everyone to store their items that they want to share with others. I ran out of room in my stash and inventory holding on to things I thought people might want. After talking to some people about it I thought it would be a good idea to make one. But enough small talk here are the rules of the mule(s);

1.) Please take only what you need: It may be tempting to sell something for cash or trade it for some runes for your HOTO, but this is for the community.

2.) Let someone know what you took: Say what you took in IRC or on the thread. This way I can keep track of what is going where.

3.) Don't use the mule any longer than you have to: Don't log on as go afk (unless you are muling by yourself which only takes 5 mins. to solidify a game). As of now, there is only one account and about 11-12 people. The number of accounts may change depending on how much people start to find or contribute but still the principle remains the same; Log on, do your business, log off.

4.) Think about what you are going to contribute before you put it on the mule: Ask yourself "is anyone going to find a use for this?" before packing the mule with items. If you see potential in the item to give it to him, if not, then go get some gold off of it.

After a short period of time, I will check the mule and see which items are still on the mule. If there is an item that has been on him for awhile and no one has placed a "hold" on it, I will pawn it to the nearest merchant to keep him clutter free. The gold can be used by whoever needs some (just be considerate of others).

Well, I guess either would work, but I was thinking of just putting the staff on the secondary so I just switch it out on the fly when I'm not casting anything.


We have a second mule btw, there're a lot of items people are dumping onto the mules.

We have created a second mule (for account/password just ask in IRC)
The first mule holds "normal" uniques/sets/other good items (not exceptional or elite) and there is a gem mule there too.
The second mule carries all other items and usually has items for higher level characters.
So if you want to join in now, just visit the first mule and grab what you want; we'll get you up to speed in no time.
In the future we may have a rune/jewel mule and a charm mule.

I am a summoner geared for hell raising and all out wars capable of a total of 30 different summons (golem/skeletons/revives) Access to all curses and a level 21 corpse explosion which clears rooms in a hurry. I can blitz anyone If on USA east to hell difficulty from there though you will be on your own. My price will be the NM forge most likely. You can keep the lower one.

As for equipment this character only needs 3 for optimal summoner Arach belt (unique spiderweb mesh) and stones of jordan. As for items i still need a necro torch and an anni.

So my roomie and I have accounts on West, but I'd like your guys' opinions on this: We just traded for a Ber rune (finally!), but we're unsure on whether we want to make CoH or save up for a Jah and make a 'nigma. The CoH would make uber-killing a bit easier, but Enigma makes our hammerdin truly godly (we made a perfect Hoto :D ). What would you guys do in our situation?

Also, is the economy more stable over on East? I keep hearing it is, but I don't know for sure. The economy over on West is retarded. =P

I should also amend that with a Necro torch too, fresh off of the ubers :-o . It's a low one though, at +11 all attributes and +16 all resist.

Man you got some of the gear i need to finish off this build esseintally well done. Depends on the character nigma is sweet but honor is ownage. Depends on what you want to use it for.

My necro is GhoulRush...I haven't been too concerned with the gear though, since the skeles tank like everything, and if they can't then Revive works nicely, and the merc has a reapers toll and Crown of Thieves. Most of the stuff my brother and I find goes to his chars, since his hammerdin and smiter have crazy mf and ownage, respectively.
