If you actually read his question, the best solution and correct solution is to "Right click and hit "Save link(or Target) as." For what he wants to do, the torrent is not needed and he should be steered away from it.

Let me break it down,

I found the torrent for all the songs

I.E. He found the Actual Torrents.

but how do I torrent a specific song? I tried hitting download

Apparently he went to an single remix page, left(normal) clicked the download link,

and all it does is a quicktime play which isn't what I wanted.

And it brought him to the quicktime player in his webpage. Right clicking and saving would solve his problem.

So, Sorry Try again another time. But for now I leave you with Mr. Doh smiley. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j261/lancer130/doh.gif

What would be the point of torrenting individual tracks? You actually want someone to go through the process of creating a .torrent file for each mix?

Okay, I'm new to this forums, but not new to this site. I used to get alot of music of this site for listening and such. Anyways after a brief bit I come back hearing about this great song househornet. So I listen to and really like it, I right click on the window getting ready to hit save as source, and I can't! it says buy quicktime pro or something. So I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what, but if anyone could help me that'd be great.
Also, this probably was mentioned, but why doesn't the PS3 web browser work on OC?

Non-Pro Quicktime won't let you save as source, so the way download it is to go back to the previous page -- the one where it has links that say "Download from Aplus," etc. -- and right-click on one of those links and choose "Save Link As..." (or whatever your browser calls it).

In Firefox, whenever I click to download anything or do a right click -> Save as... and start a download, no download message comes and the item isn't downloaded. I've tried changing where it's downloading to (from whereever I want to desktop) and even reinstalling firefox. Still not letting me download. Anyone got any tips?

Also IE lets me download stuff without a problem, so I'm assuming it's localized to firefox.

When you uninstalled firefox to reinstall it, did you delete EVERYTHING related to firefox before you reinstalled it..? Aside from saving the bookmarks, it could have left some files that remembered whatever settings you had that for some reason did not allow downloads to occur...

I tried deleting the program files/mozilla firefox folder after uninstalling, but after I reinstalled Firefox, everything was still there. I uninstalled all the plugins, but it's still giving me trouble.

What sucks is that I can't pinpoint when it started happening, so I don't know what I might have done to cause this.

well... you can try importing the bookmarks to Opera until firefox is fixed...

I think it might be someone plugging up my internet tubes.

But seriously. I need to be able to download porn.

I need help. Bad.

On a brighter note: The rest of my computer seems to be giving me problems, so I might be reformatting in the near future. I'll see what happens after I give that a go.

Just deleting your Firefox directory in Program Files won't do it. You need to go to your application data folder and delete the Mozilla\Firefox stuff there. I assume you're on WinXP? Go to Start > Run and type %appdata%. Find the Firefox folder (it might be in Mozilla) and delete it. That will delete your profile (including previously installed extensions and bookmarks). After this you'll be able to do a true clean install of Firefox.

Do the right-click-save-as thing on one of the links that says "Download from Aplus," "Download from Dreamhost," etc. You don't need QuickTime -- if you're seeing QuickTime messages, it means you left-clicked the link that you should have right-clicked.

http://www.ocremix.org/game/seiken-densetsu-3-snes/remixes/ I click on any of these remixes, then click download, and I get this: Error (404 Not Found) The content you were looking for could not be found. Perhaps it doesn't want to be found, perhaps we have removed it, or perhaps the site is currently undergoing maintenance. There's a lot of uncertainty in the world, and the potential causes for this 404 are similarly indeterminate. In fact, there's also the chance that you just typed in a nonsense URL for kicks, or are the luckiest of an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of computers. What do I do?

As far as I know, one of the servers that was used to host a number of remixes is not able to any more. djpretzel is working hard to find some way to restore the availability of these remixes someplace else. I guess... maybe you can ask someone who has it nicely on the irc channel or something. It is, after all, free music.

Works okay for me. Try this link to one of the actual mp3s and see if it works -- it may just be a temporary problem with the OCR site rather than the mp3 hosts.

That was the SuperTux mirror and those links aren't listed any longer, so that's not (and never was) the problem.

Are you sure there's a problem with anything at all? Everything works fine on those mixes here. You click the download tab and 3 options are there (Aplus, Dreamhost, ocrmirror.org) to download each mix. Nothing's out of the ordinary from what I'm seeing.

Check this out, you don't have to download from OC Remix. atomicthumbs has made an online OC Remix music player that allows you to stream, rate (omg) and download songs at rediculously higher bandwidths than OCR. The more users, the more awesome, so please register here (http://bunnitude.com/ampache/browse.php?action=song).

I've trying to download the whole 65 SF track to my Hard Drive, so I can then put it on my iTunes. I've clicked it and gone to 'Save to target', but everytime I try to download to Desktop or Document, it takes 1 second, then displays the file as 34KB, then when I click it, it says it must find the program that made it via the web. I press OK, it serches, then says it can't find anything.

A noobish question, but how do I download them?

You either clicked to download the wrong link, or you've downloaded a torrent file.

If it's a torrent file, no problem. You just need to open it with a torrent client, and you'll start downloading the actual music files. About torrents (http://www.ocremix.org/info/Torrents).

If you clicked the wrong link... Use this link (http://bt.ocremix.org/files/OC_ReMix_-_Super_Street_Fighter_II_Turbo_HD_Remix_Official_S oundtrack.torrent) to get the torrent file, and then open it with a torrent client.

If torrents are blocked where you're at, use the links on this page (http://www.ocremix.org/info/OC_ReMix:_Super_Street_Fighter_II_Turbo_HD_Remix_O fficial_Soundtrack/Individual_Tracks).

Damn it!

On BitTorrent, I've installed all 100% (500 or so MB) of the soundtrack, and now want to load it on to my iTunes. I've dragged the icon from my Desktop (It has the BitTorrent logo, and it's called 'OC_ReMix_Street_Fighter_etc etc') but it doesn't seem to add anything. Where can I drag it from?

They're not in the torrent file, they're somewhere else. You've downloaded it all, so it's on your hard drive as a folder with mp3s. Somewhere on your hard drive, where downloads end up.

Hey I haven't been on the site for a while. Are all the new DL links now in Quicktime format? Is seems like the only way to save these is with the "Save as Source" option, only available with Quicktime Pro.

I must be missing something, but I really can't figure out what. Sorry I'm stupid, but can someone clue me in here?

Thanks!

No, Quicktime has just been installed as a browser plugin on your computer.

If you want to download a file, just right-click the link and Save-As.

And if you're listenin to a song with the quicktime plugin, and you want to save it without going back and stopping playback, you can download it in firefox by going to File > Save Page As, or in Chrome by clicking on the Page icon and choosing "Save page as".

If you're using IE, Safari, Opera, konqueror... or whatever, there should be an analogous method of saving files you're listening to with the quicktime plugin.

Song page->download tab->right-click download link->select save/download/whatever.

If you're on mac and don't have right-click enabled, control-click the link instead.

hold down Alt when you click on a download link

either that or right click on the link and choose "save link"

OR from the player page, go to your file menu and choose "save page"

Although everyone has chimed in with the solution, I will mention that I too use Chrome and have the same auto-play "feature" when it comes to MP3s. While I do suspect it's Quicktime's fault, no matter what I try or what Chrome setting I try to set/reset, nothing solves it. But since there's a workaround it doesn't stop me from using an otherwise awesome browser. :)

Neblix

See if you can go into your preferences and change the behavior of what your browser does with different file types. You should be able to find mp3 and set it to "download" or something like that. Firefox does this, I'm not sure Chrome does.

Like everyone else here has said, this is a Quicktime thing. I don't know any other program that does this.

Here's a little instructional support from another website. I've done this before and can vouch for its accuracy:

Restoring MP3 Associations if you want to use Windows Media Player as your default. Otherwise, the steps are largely similar for other players.

1. Open Windows Media Player

2. Press ALT+T and Click Options

3. Click File Types

4. Check Mark Mp3 and Click OK

5. Close Internet Explorer and Reopen it.

Removing Quicktime Association

1. Open Quicktime in Start > Programs > Quicktime

2. Click Edit > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences

3. Click [File Types] Tab and Uncheck MP3

4. Click Tab

5. Click MIME Settings, and Uncheck MP3

6. Click OK Twice

[b]Setting Default Associations

1. Click On Start > Set Program Access And Defaults

2. Click Custom and Scroll Down to Default Media Player

3. Choose a Default Media Player like Winamp

4. Press OK

Hey, I listen to songs (or try to) to see if I want to download them.

But how come some songs have the streaming option and others don't?

I checked some of the oldest songs on the site, and they have streaming, but sometimes a recent one doesn't have it at all.

Though the youtube stream is easily my favorite addition the site has made in recent times.

KyleJCrb
12-21-2010, 05:02 AM
The YouTube streaming doesn't always go up with a new song immediately, because it takes some time to get the video uploaded to YouTube, then go back and add it to the page. It's usually up within the day though, from what I've experienced.

I've told Dave several times that when you click the Download tab, there needs to be instructions for the surprising amount of people who have somehow (really?) never heard of right-clicking and saving the files. From our emails and YouTube comments, I get this FAQ at least 5 times a week, to the point where I have a form letter. Imagine how many people we lose who are just too lazy or ignorant to ask. Just from the anecdotal evidence, this is a huge problem that can be mostly solved just by dropping a couple lines of text in that Download area.

progdrummer

So i have looked all over the FAQ and thru lots of different pages and Im sure this question has been answered at some point on the site but i might just be over looking it. I was wondering if it possible to download individual songs to my computer without using the torrents. I have used torrents for a while and got those files immediately. But there are some new remixes that i would like to have on my iPod that arent in the torrents. I was just wondering if there was any way i could get them instead of just having to listen to them thru the website

1. Go to any ReMix's page (e.g. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02177/)
2. Click the green button on the right to "Download MP3"
3. It shows 4 mirror options; right-click and "Save Target As..." on any one of them to save the MP3 to your hard drive.
4. We rock. You have it. Rejoice!
