Final Fantasy 9 'Rose of April'

This is a very nice orchestral arrangment by master. master indeed. My only compliant on this one is that the ending is so very sudden. It's kind of like you've just been swept off your feet, flying around for a while, and then you are just dropped and you don't land on your feet. It may only be from 10 feet, but still, people can break their legs from that height if they don't land right. Great piece of music master, keep it up.

Well, as some of you may or may not know, this track actually was leaked by the judges before being posted. I had done this mock up ReView at the time for fun. Most of my comments still stand.

Well, I heard this song awhile back when it was still in its "testing" phase, and I liked it then.

The sounds may not be the highest quality, but sometimes you have to overlook that, because every other aspect of this arrangement is really nice. Smooth and sweet :D

Just a note to DJP that the ReMixer field wasn't filled in on this one...I'm not sure if this is where this should go, so apologies if not.

I also heard this in "testing" as well, so my initial and usually most detailed review was already given. A very light and peaceful mix to a track that should be very light and peaceful :). Good choice of instruments, great mix.

Very nice piece. Great choice of instruments. I'd have to agree with Ginnsu on the ending. I found myself sitting, enjoying the music, then all of the sudden, "Huh?!" Thought the power went out or something. Very abrupt.

Overall though, nicely done.

Interesting name for the track, I know it more as "Loss of Me", Rose of May is an another name for it, so this was a delightful anagrammix. I likes those harps and strings very much, considering itīs April, this would suit good as a theme for the season spring. Everything wakes up from itīs wintery grave and gets alive again. But it was a short summer, the lovely tune eneded very quickly. Maybe not very quick, but it could have faded out.

This remix really embodies the emotion of the original track, unlike DJ Pheonix's "Losing Me Is Not An Option", which has a techno feel, this remix orchestrates the sadness the original track permeates. Very, very well done...

- This post is not meant to insult DJ Pheonix's rendition of "Rose of May", it is by far one of the best remixes on OC Remix, DJ Pheonix's rendition just has a much different feel.

Short and sweet, the harp and pizzicato sound great together. It doesn't elaborate too much, but it still has a nostalgic charm to the sound that I find appealing. It takes a few listens to get a good grasp of it, but it's short enough that repeat listens are pretty easy to do.

Odd, I thought I already reviewed this one. First off, this song is true to the original. Second of all, it kicks some major ass and third, it's just plain good. There ya have it :D

(I don't have much in the way of musical knowledge :P)

A lighter take on the theme that I have enjoyed for a while. Looking at it a little more closely, I'm noticing that the clarinet sound is pretty good, so props for getting that and making it sound very nice. The pizzicato strings left a bit to be desired, but I'm going to blame that on the age of the mix. Brass sounds pretty fake as well, but that's a consistant problems with most mixes (just no good sounds for brass out there).

I like that this is more of an subtle emotional change than a huge change-up of the mix overall. Refreshing in that aspect. Nice work.

Um, I guess this one's okay. The arrangement is really simple and there's not too much to the instrumentation. I hate using this word to describe music, but I really find myself bored by this remix :-( There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but it's very bland, not much is going on.

I can see why others would like it okay, but it's way too cookie cutter to be a staple on my playlist. Sorry :-(
