Final Fantasy 7 'A World of Piano'
Ok. Honestly, this one didn't impress me. Yes, it's done on the piano. Yes it was played live (most likely anyway). But I honestly didn't think it was out of the ordinary for a piano arrangement. The melody was pretty much standard with a little bit of variety near the end, and the accompaniament was pretty standard arpeggiated 5ths. I suppose with time we'll see more variety and versatility from Mr. Klutz, but for a first or second attempt, it's not bad. The dynamics and technique are good.

for all of those who reviewed this, if you forgot what you said, this is what I copied from the recovery log:
Spacemogg - A World Of Piano
One should care less about the technical aspects of a tune if one approaches it with the ear of an impartial fan. "Arpeggiated 5ths" -- whatever. Nuts and bolts and over my head, but I know what I like and I likey the piano. Thank you Klutz, it's gorgeous. Brought to me my memories of my *first time!* on a starry dormroom night, flunking Astro with a contraband white wine and digging Debussy. It's so lovely. Thanx for the memories...
Starblaze - Yeah.
There's a chord that's wrong every time he plays it, but the first time you hear it is within the first few seconds of the song.
Sorry, that bugs me to death. Everything else is great, though.
Nice job.

The best thing about remixes is the fact that the artists like to remake the song as the way they think it should sound, and I believe this one is very close to how I would have liked to have heard it. Very well done Klutz.

I love it, beautiful. Yea, this one gave me some of those memories from what seems like oh-so long ago now of playing FF7 day and night
Good job, keep 'em coming! :D

If you'd rather just retype them, that's cool too. Just do something so I can delete this so later generations will have no clue that a rollover ever occurred...

 The first time I played FF7, back in 1997, I heard the world them, and it grew on me sooo quick. Then, it seemed like a lot of the music built around it...even better. I'm playing FF7 again now, and I came across this remix last night. I was so happy, I almost cried.
This is a great submission! It keeps the original greatness of the World Theme, and somehow manages to make it 42 times more beautiful! Great work Klutz!

Haha, 42 times more beautiful, eh :D...thanks a lot for listening guys, I only hope to share the things that God has given me...glad to do it for ya guys :D

Well, I don't know the actual factor by which the remix multiplied the original music by, but 42 IS the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything :o (according to Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy) so, 42 is my best estimate :D

Its pure. It has feeling, you truely can't fake that.
Wow. This remix is very well done. Considering there are orchestral and piano albums done for the final fantasys, for kLuTz to undertake this and come out with such a great piece is fantastic. I played the piano for 7 and a half years, and honestly, this is something I wish I could play myself. If you like piano music, this remix is awesome. Thanx again.

A brilliant piece kLuTz well done !!
I love this theme and this is the best mix of it so far, a very nice original version on the piano. After a tale in piano i knew this had to be something great to better it, and it was.
I always regarded McVaffe as the best pianist, however i think kLuTz is moving his way up there with him.
Congrats kLuTz on your recent mixes well done :)

Another great piece Klutz. I loved your first FF arrangement and I'm loving this one as well. It's fluidly done and somehow I always feel emotional in certain parts of the song. I like the rise and fall of tempo and I think they are intergrated very well in this piece. Hope to see more. :D

I absolutely loved this remix, but then I am an enormous fan of smooth piano pieces. It stays fairly true to the original theme, but the complicated elaborations are simply beautiful.

Excellent work! This song is truly magnificent. Every single element seemed to fit together exceptionally well. I just have one question: Can you post a midi of this song, so we can try to learn how to play this masterpiece? :D

The subtle tremolos and harmonic complexity in this piece is great, it adds an element of captivation and makes the listener want to keep listening. The timing is overall not bad and the flow of the entire piece is extraordinary. A great job done on this track! Very inspirational.

This is one of my favorite OC remixes ever (my other favs include "Terra in black", Prozax's Rainbow Road, and "Funky pills") I can't believe that there aren't more people adoring it. It's original. it's creative, it's respectful, it's not electronic, it's clean, it's smooth, it's rich, it's laid back, it's gentle, it expands upon the original... I could go on and on. I love Klutz's work, and I hope he does more songs that I know (like this one). And the chords are creative. People bitch about the so called "wrong chord" in the beginning, but I think it's jazzy and adds character.

This is one of those pieces that almost made me wet myself when I first heard it.
I'm a sucker for classical/piano stuff to begin with, and this is beautifully executed. The tune lends itself so well to the piano solo style. The original was fairly flat, especially compared to this. Every single one of kLuTz's embellishments is tasteful, fits the comprehensive picture of the piece, and... I'd want to do a blow-by-blow of it, but I'd just end up saying what he did followed by "oh..." "perfection..." or 'beautiful..."

Oh wow... Beautiful.
I was gonna try to arrange this song for piano until I heard this. It's no longer necessairy now. Absolutely stunning. My only complaint was that I thought the beginning could've started out a little slower and softer, it would add emotion. that's it though.
Mad propz yo. Great job.

I don't usually post reviews and such, but this piece is juss so amazing that I have to. This is the kind of work that makes me work even harder to teach myself the piano. I'd love the sheet music for this. =) Extremely good piano solo. ^_^ (I'm such a sucker for piano arrangements and instrumental music!)
This is an amazing remix. I've always loved it. It was one of the first I downloaded when I found this site, and still one of my favorites. This is also why I registered here as well, so now you know who to blame: Klutz has inflicted me upon you all! It is all Klutz's fault!

Me too :) Except I just joined yesterday. So I haven't had much of a chance to post a lot yet.
But anyway...yes, this is one of the best piano arrangements of any song on this site or anywhere else. FF7 lacked a Piano Collection but if it did have one or if Square ever got around to putting one out, they should take serious consideration of this one.

By far, the best piano solo this side of an Amiga .mod
There's a slight uneasiness to it at times, I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the timing seems to wobble just a bit. But this doesn't detract from the sheer talent of the playing.

This is nothing but short of incredible. The piano is just beautiful, it sounds as it would come from one of Uematsu`s piano works itself. It takes the main theme of FF7 on a highly relaxed, yet dramatic, sad and calm style. You just feel right at home, it flows so naturally, its just right! I dont know how to describe it, but if I didnt know this were a remix, I`d guessed it was original.
Its that good. Its only piano, thats it, but thats what makes it so lovely.
Top class, excellent done by kLuTz who has earned my highest recommandation.

I first heard this song and I thought 'oh another one of these' but when I carried on listening. I could hear that this piece was truly amazing. The melody starts of simple and then goes into an encore of truly fantastic piano playing. Well Done. If you haven't downloaded this then I seriously suggest that you do as soon as possible.

I've had this ReMix since around the time it came out, but I thought I should post about it though. It's just soooo freaking good. Really. I really like the parts at 2:42-ish and 3:05-ish. It's the same part of the song, but the way you elaborate on it is so good. Also, I think the song had a very full feeling because of the left hand playing. Very deep. The lower keys on the piano are so cool! Also, I think this song played a part in me wanting to play FF7 over again, which I've recently done. Your additions to the song don't detract away from the feeling you get on the World Map at all; great job!

I just saw the trailer for Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children earlier today and I didn't notice it until later in the day (when this piece randomly came up in my playlist) that they used a slow haunting piano theme VERY similar to Klutz's remix over the Advent Children trailer. And why shouldn't they? From my non-technical standpoint, this is a beautiful interpretation of the original music that I always enjoy hearing. Kudos.

Seriously, based on these remixes here on this site, and the remixes that I've downloaded off of your personal site, you should seriously consider applying for Juliard. Although there may not be much that they can teach you any more, but I'm sure there's a master's course. :)

I can't explain it in words. I just heard the first few measures of this beautiful piano, and my jaw just dropped. It sounds so good, so pure. Of my entire collection of OC ReMixes, I have to say, this is one of my top 5 picks. I'm a band geek and a computer geek, and you've combined both aspects into an amazing piece of music no words can describe. Hell, I show off to my friends and family because I have this GREAT ReMix.
Anyway, enough with the sissy soft crap. A jaw-dropping piano piece that all people, musically talented or not, should download and hear. Kudos man, just a lot of ludicrus kudos! Hell, I'll bus them in on armored cars. Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best place for cheesey humor. I'll live.

I was on a bus going to a concert in D.C. filled with a bunch of musicians and sat next to this girl who I started chatting with. She said she was going to be attending Julliard. When we got to the concert it turned out she was the main act and the piano she played that night was the most beautiful music that has ever graced my ears. Plus she was hot.

Anyway, kLuTz, I admire how you play with passion and soul, and it really shines through in your music. I have enjoyed every song of yours here at OCR and on your website, and this one is one of my favorites. I can't wait until you give us another OCR piano arrangement!

As an aspiring remixer, composer and pianist, I appreciate this peice. Admittedly it's not the most original, but maybe that's not the point. As I recall, the point of this site is to porve that video game music is as vital and noteworthy(pun) as any other genre. I think this remix proves that in a very accessible way.
If I had one complaint it would be that it lacks a certain progression. Arpeggios are great and all, but a little more variation with structure and timing would have been great.

I have been a sucker for Piano pieces my whole life...probably why I have taken such a liking to Klutz's work. But this is by far one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. Definetly up there with Mozart - Pachabel in D Minor......WOW. Honestly, I nearly cried listening to this. Excellant job Klutz, keep up the good work and bring us more.

kLuTz's works always knock me on my butt... they are so different from the original themes, and yet so reminiscent (sp.? on this word for the second time today?)... And I definitely love the kLuTzEy variations (sorry for lack of a better trademark term)... I rank this up there with Chopin's "Revolutionary" - known as Kakumei to DDRMax2 players.
BTW... I know most pianists have their own variation techniques, but yours sounds close to Mozart... is it modeled after his variation technique?

How more generic could a song get? This is a very stale mix. There doesn't seem to be any emotion, and it doesn't go anywhere we haven't gone before through kLuTz's other mixes. I would go more in-depth, but why should I when Disco Dan already said it best himself nearly two and a half years ago when he was judging the mix?
Wow this sounds exactly like the town life in piano mix we just had... arpeggiated accompaniament... simple chord progression, very little variety. But flawless execution and nice dynamics. I feel like I've said this before....
And there's something fishy about the flawless performance... I can't put my finger on it. It's definitely a synth, which is fine, but there's something artificial about the playing, and I think it's the breaks, and the jumps, which the more I think about, sound really ... doctored, or impossible. I could be way off here, but anyway...
Ok, I hate to be the pessimist or the cynic or whatever I am, but I really don't feel this has much to offer, besides being piano based. The playing really isn't THAT impressive, but I may be a bit biased being at a music school with a focus on composition and piano performance, and being constantly blown away by the other students who seem to actually like playing the piano, and then by the jazz pianists whose ability to improvise and vary seems unending. But all in all, I feel the piano work here is very cliché and sounds like something I'd do just messing around on the keys, only to close the piano lid, say "blah," and walk away as my dad says "that was nice, Daniel, what was that?" because they're much more easily impressed...
But anyway, I don't feel this is spectacular, and the part I guess that bugs me the most about it is the similarity to the arrangement that was just submitted by this guy just a week or so ago, just in arrangement style and technique. Kind of bored me. Spice it up, buddy. Kick it up a notch. BAM!
Anyway, that's my reasoning, and I'm stickin' to it.

I tend to agree. Although it shows quite a bit of skill on the piano(I know I couldn't duplicate it), and everything is technically perfect...that's the biggest problem, as well. really, not very emotive at all. In music, I don't think perfection means a hill of beans. I've heard a lot of songs with less-than-perfect notes, chords, phrasing, whathaveyou, but the feel behind it is so compelling, i just sit there for hours listening to it. It's a perfect piece...but, it's a perfect piece. That explains it perfectly.

Anyhow, for those that asked for sheet music, I'm sorry to say that I never made any, since this piece was improvised. However, if you go to http://klutz.vgmidi.com/music.php you can find the midi, and open it with a midi editor. There are a few songs there, though that you can find that other people have transcribed for me. Or you can also ask in the Sheet Music section at the site to see if anyone's transcribed it. Thanks!

Okay, first of all, the fact that this piece was improvised already blows me away. How do you do it? Well, I can sum up what I think it is in one word: creativity. This mix is perfect for the car especially after school when I'm tired and I just wanna relax to something that of course, doesn't put me asleep at the same time, lol! Usually piano remixes tend to be boring but this one... it just isn't boring. It's very relaxing to listen.

I love piano and I love the FF VII Main Theme more than almost anything, so I should like this song by klutz, right? Well... YES. I do. But it's not just that I'm predisposed to liking this song - this is a legitimately great arrangement by klutz. You need only compare this to the professionally produced version on the Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections CD (arranged by Shiro Hamaguchi and performed by Seiji Honda) to realize how great this song is. Hamaguchi & Honda's version is good, but Klutz's just blows it away. I feel like he really "got" this track better... maybe it comes from him having a greater familiarity with the game, but I can't say for sure. Either way, he wisely omits the slow middle section of the piece that worked as an orchestral buildup in the OST, but drags as a solo piano piece. Instead I feel like he really boiled this theme down to its essence and then expressed it perfectly in his medium of solo piano. I remember stopping outside towns in FF VII just because I wanted to listen to this theme to the end of its loop... this arrangement gives me the same feeling of wanting to stop what I'm doing and just admire the beauty of the song. Klutz really nailed this one.
Really relaxing stuff, the deceptive cadence at 2:09 was awesome, and the slight color changes in the chord structure were excellent. I think a little more rubato in some spots would have improved it, but overall some really nice interpretation of a classic theme.

The thing about piano is...you really can't not like it. It's one of those instruments that delivers in such a passionate way that you can't ignore it. And this is definitely no exception. kLuTz, you are a genius. Simply put. I love FFVII and its music and I wouldn't even call this a remix. You completely redefined Final Fantasy VII and all its greatness. Amazing work. :D
