Already reposted elsewhere. Just saw this on his MySpace profile today. Really pisses me off, to say the least. Do what you can to pass the word along:

He did good by writing down some of the serial numbers. That's always a good thing to do when you have lots of expensive electronics.

That's too bad. BT is probably my single most favorite artist in the techno/electronica genre. Been listening to him since before I could drive.

Oh, shit. :(
Hope it comes through for him.

But no, seriously, that sucks. Losing property is one thing, but being robbed of your art and your time...that stuff can't be replaced, and a lot of the time it doesn't even do the thief any good.

The cash he could do with it would buy lots of meth, man.
Sadly, the first thing that came to mind was "GREAT ESCAPE! (http://cache02-music01.myspacecdn.com/14/full_be0f7b426cecbeb967bd175a61cec92b.mp3?bandid=2 5352843&songid=44425987&p=aHR0cDovL2NhY2hlMDItbXVzaWMwMS5teXNwYWNlY2RuLmNv bS8xNC9zdGRfYmUwZjdiNDI2Y2VjYmViOTY3YmQxNzVhNjFjZW M5MmIubXAz&a=0&token=1172678641_d33084b6cd28a954c7a61af0fe258dfc)"
Sucks pretty bad nonetheless.

Isn't this like the second or third time it's happened to him?
Can't say I care. The guy is filthy rich and can replace virtually anything. The stuff he couldn't, e.g. project files, should have been backed up. And you'd think after multiple robberies, you'd spend a little on better security or something.

Actually, Leah, a recent frivolous lawsuit over sampling someone initiated against BT has left him almost broke. He's not wealthy in the least. Additionally, I would imagine that his custom patches, custom tuned instruments, presets, and recordings are NOT replaceable. They are by definition unique.

Yet timbaland goes free?
Haha, law.

Who said Timbaland is going free, or that BT is guilty? You are confusing the issues here. The court case against Timbaland is going forward as far as I know (or at least, the original artist's lawyers are working on the papers). But he has Geffen behind him. He has unlimited resources. BT does not. BT will undoubtedly win the case, but in his own words, it took $10,000 worth of expert testimony to determine that one thing he was accused of "stealing" was a pattern from page 1 of a basic percussion textbook.
The problem here has nothing to do with guilt or innocence, but legal fees.

I dunno how long passed since this actually happened but it's a shame this happened to one of my favorite artistes.
I think that stuff must be really expensive but, he says it's more of a sentimental value than money value.
Well, help if you can!

You guys do realize, that most film scores would be labeled "Techno", at least as far as techno applied to this particular artist is concerned. Anyway, yeah, I read it on his myspace. He's trying to get some sort of non profit organization going, or something like that, to protect artists in the event their own stuff gets jacked.

I can't believe some things people have said in this thread. But yeah I continue to wish BT the best of luck. Doesn't he have some pretty rare stuff? I don't know much about musical hardware models and such but I heard something about some rare equipment. This guy has set world records, and This Binary Universe was an audio masterpiece. In relation to this, I hope the guy who Timbaland ripped isn't completely screwed. I hope BT doesn't end up being completely screwed either.

Talking about This Binary Universe, is it that good? I ask cuz the only way to get it here is by import and it's pretty expensive, so I was asking myself if I should get it anyways.

This Binary Universe departs from his usual dance music style. It's not just music, but rather an experience. It's rather amazing actually.

As a jazz snob your arrogance to talent ratio is probably the highest of anyone I've run across. Nice work.

Who's BT? Some noob?
Who's BT? Some noob?
No you jerk. Read the bio on his website (http://www.btmusic.com/)
I really wish some of you would grow up and stop acting like noobs yourselves. Really. A man has his equipment stolen, his artwork taken, and on top of that, this isn't the first time it's happened. The man is damn near going to lose his ability to create his art because some asshat jerkoff decides that he/they want to be big shots and steal the man's stuff.
Honestly, if it happened to you, you'd want an APB put out on the perpetrator, and you'd want them prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I mean hell, if someone broke into my house, stole all of my belongings, and I knew who it was, or knew someone that knew something, I'd find out, find the bum or bums, and have them arrested, and my belongings returned if possible.
Personally, it's a blow to the community just joking about the man losing his equipment. That to me pretty much says you'd condone someone stealing equipment from Zircon or Beatdrop. And that you'd be totally fine with it because you'd get a laugh out of it.
Well, anyway, I'm sorry for going off on a rant, but it's not fair to call someone names that you don't really know anything about, especially after having his personal property stolen from him. How'd you like it if someone did that to you? Hm? Bet you'd hate it.
I hope they catch the criminals that did this. And as far as the Timbaland thing goes, I hope the original artist wins that and gets millions for it. Because while the RIAA might bitch and gripe about copyright infringment, they also need to realize they're out there to protect artists from other artists. And considering a lot of the newer artists have about as much musical talent as a 2 year old banging on pots and pans, that says a lot about the need of some of these so-called artists to "borrow" other people's property.

Yeah, whether you like him or not is not the crux of the issue here, it's that someone got a lot of his expensive stuff stolen. It bites.

That's just plain shitty. I remember being robbed, but it 'only' cost me 500 or 600 bucks. Still, though, I literally wanted to kill someone. I guess this guy has the same emotions, times ten thousand.
A friend of mine got robbed the other day too. They held him up at gunpoint, and took a lot of his electronics, including his computer - which contained his senior project. He had to start all over.
People are pathetic, aren't they?
