Mega Man 3 'Blue Reflection'
Holy crap, this is gooooood. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you should download it now just to try it. One of the most professional sounding remixes on the site.
Actually, though, I did have one minor gripe - the vocals are mixed in just a bit to quietly. I can hear Starla's (wonderful) voice, but I can't really make out the lyrics... but that aside, this gets a "What the hell are you waiting for?" from me!

The best ending theme remix of MM3 I've heard.

This is like... very cool! I love it!
My only gripe is when Starla's going for those low notes, well, they get sorta forced out. Doesen't sound that good. Overall though, this is great singing and mixing. This will no doubt be the ending song on my new OCR CD.

I love this song. A change from all the fast breakbeat, hip-hop and techno remixes I listen to. This would make a great slow song at a high school dance. The saxophone solo's awesome at the beginning, and the piano fits in very nicely. Starla, you're vocals have very much improved since the 8-Bit Eighties Mario Remix. I can see that in this and 8-Bit, you've have Madonna as one of your influences for vocals and other compositions.
The only two things that could make it better, louder vocals and a minimal drum-line. At least a bassdrum and a snare to keep the beat are good combinations.
All in all, guys, surprise the love of your life with this when she comes over for dinner!
To the red-head that owns a locker beside me, I reserve this track for you, my love!!!

This has always been my favorite Megaman sng of them all. To hear it with such beautiful lyrics, though a little hard to hear, actually brought a tear to my eye. It's really really wonderful.

Obviously, injury is extremelly talented. This jazzy song was always one to hit my favs, but injury's melodic voice just adds to the climate of the song. Seriously, this is extremelly artsy and goes to show that adding lyrics to a song can be beautifull.
Im still aksing myself why injury wasnt picked to sing in lunar ?! O_o;;

the most intricately woven delight of vocals and touching music i've heard in a long time. injury has done an excellent job here, and her lyrics are beautifully written. anyone who loves someone should listen to this song. i did, and it brought out a whirlwind of emotion in me. a huge applause to injury on this.

this was okay. i can't bring myself to say excellent.
the vocals should be a little louder versus the piano.
like...... *-* when she was singing this on the shoutcast last night?
*THAT* was perfect. Even if she was being interupted and broke down laughing a couple times. =D
but overall. Must Download. =P a shame for anyone who missed the shoutcast too.

I love it. The combination of the simple instrumentation, the style, and the singing all come together to remind me of some of Yoko Kanno's more somber works from "Cowboy Bebop". I absolutely love the music from that show, so know that my comparison is extremely favorable. A rare thing, lyrics with the remix, It's one thing to remix a song (Which can be a difficult task in itself) but to sing to it too.... wow. My hat's off to you. I can't write lyrics, so I can only be in awe... Great stuff.

Yes, starla is indeed talented. I've been a buddy of hers for years, so I've gotten to hear all that talent develop almost in real time... it's been quite an experience, yes.
Anyway, about the remix... I think everyone else summed it up nicely, heh (I'm such a dirty troll). I just wish starla would take my advice and get singing lessons... with just a bit more range she'd go from great to wonderful.
Eh, just wait until starla and I make the Guts Man song. I've already written the lyrics... I just have to sing them now, hehe.

Whoa...just...whoa. I never thought of having my favorite tune from Mega Man 3 like this at all. I'm pleased that it turned out quite well. starla's a talented vocalist, I can give you that, and her lyrics are well written, as nothing really stuck out like a sore thumb. The slight jazz ambience of the tune really worked, and the cello and piano complemented starla well. Gotta love the sax, too...
Unless you're not into this kind of music, I'm not sure if you'll like it or not. I still recommend that everyone download it soon. I personally hope to hear more of these kinds of things in the future.

Wow, very sleek and stylish. While, IMO, Starla is hardly a great voice talent (Who am i to talk though, i couldn't sing if my life depended on it), But, still, i love this remix. There's just something velvet smooth about it... Goes down like a good drink :)

My god, when I first heard this mix I was blown away... Then quickly followed up by sadness, cause the singer (whoever it was) reminded me how much being single, just doesn't suit me.. Then I became sleepy, becuase the total package sounded so gentle to my ears, that I became a little too relaxed :) ...
then finally returned to being completely amazed. The whole thing is put together perfectly!
But now I'm sad... I'm once again reminded, that I'm lonely.

I read "Jazz" and lyrics" in the description for this song and figured I would hate it. Thank god I downloaded it anyway, b/c this is one of the best ReMixes I've gotten in a while. Sure, there is some truth to the criticisms (singing quiet, low notes a little rough) but they do nothing to diminish the overall enjoyment of this track. I actually like that the singing is pretty quiet for most of it...it doesn't overshadow the Protoman theme, and it kinda reminds me of someone sitting alone singing to herself. Not the kinda thing you would be belting out to an audience. Great job

It's been a while since I've done a review, since I've been pretty lazy. However, after listening to this ReMix, I couldn't afford to be lazy. This Mega Man 3 remix is good. Excuse me, great. No, wonderful... well, you get the point, ya?
The instruments blend together into something you would want to hit the repeat button on your CD Player for, and listen to it over, and over, and over. So, I am listenting to this, and saying, "Hm, not bad, not bad."
Then came the lyrics... I was suprised to hear lyrics in the song, since I wasn't expecting any. The lyrics made sense, and acted as if it was another well put instrument with the others. Not only that, but the lyrics actually meant something! I've heard songs with lyrics, and I usually block them off. But I was reading the lyrics while she was singing.
All in all, the song is absolutely wonderful. Starla, congrats, your in my 10/10 section. Keep up the good work. :)
FINAL SCORE: 10/10

Wow, I had always pictured this song with lyrics. Leave it to Starla to make that dream come true. Very instrumental and could easily be a tear-jerker if one was in the right mood. The whole thing is just awesome.
And people keep saying things about her voice... well, I thought it was pretty good, although maybe it could use some chorus? I don't know, I don't have any gripes, which is unusual.

... I don't know where to begin. Wait... Yes I do. :)
Starla is very talented and a great singer. I agree with Orkybash when he said that the vocals were a tad soft, but not enough to make a fuss about. I'm not going to go into details since I know there must be at least ten others who have already commented about this song, so all I'm going to say now is "Wow, I'm going to be listening to this for a VERY long time". Very impressive.

I have to admit, this was a pretty song. Kinda went home with recently breaking up with my GF, but still, good song inspite of being in sullen revery for a while. I never really thought of vocals to that tune, and I haven't even heard that many remixes of of it. Being the MM fan I am, I do my best to keep my eyes out for them, MM 3 has some tight music. I do give props to Injury for this tune and her vocals on it. The low level vocals worked pretty well, I can't really see hearing words over those notes, music carries as much meaning as voice. A fine remix to add to your collection or to add to a soft CD.

This is my first review here. I've heard a good percentage of the songs here, and I love most of what I've heard a great deal. But this is the first time I'm compelled to write a review.
This was a-ma-zing! I had MM3 way back then, and it is one of my favorite songs from the series (my favorite being the song that plays in MMX when MM is standing on a cliff at the end, wondering if Zero is allright). I like everything about this track. The melody is nicely captured by Starla and the lyrics that were put to the music are incredible. The poetry is lovely and has pinched a little cord in my heart.
I've heard a lot of remixes from other places where people sang over the music, but most of the times it was dumb stuff like The Tower of Fanatics. I'm amazed how Starla pulled it off here, and I must admit that part of the charm was her voice. It sorta reminded me of Alanis Morissette's voice on a sad song she had made a long time ago before Jagged Little Pill came out.
Kudos to you. Every OCRer shoud at least give this track a chance!
Edit: Hehe... Just read a review from a previous song from Injury to find out that Injury and Starla would be the same person... Hehehe... Whoops!

Actually, though, I did have one minor gripe - the vocals are mixed in just a bit to quietly.
Yea.. i remastered it like 40thousand times. it kept clipping.. i mean i compressed it, normalized it, tried a noise gate thingy unsuccessfully.. i cant do production that well. in the end i turned down all the instruments that werent totally having a party with volume automation.. i had to put a compressor on those [like the cello and sax] to turn them down... so yea, i had a lot of trouble mixing in the voice. it did turn out louder than the first couple [thousand] times i tried rendering it.
The only two things that could make it better, louder vocals and a minimal drum-line. At least a bassdrum and a snare to keep the beat are good combinations.
my god, man, have you heard my awful percussion?!?! it would have ruined the song.. ahaha.. oh man. seriously, i know too little about drums, and anyway... i wanted to do a remix without them. abandon my weak spot.
All in all, guys, surprise the love of your life with this when she comes over for dinner!
the lyrics frighten both haz and i. i said it's more of a love-sick song than a love song...
I'm suprised nobody mentioned this before, but, doesn't this really pemind you of ProtoVaffe? I've listened to them countless times, and this seems to follow ProtoVaffe, note for note. I just thought you should know.

"pipples" had me laughing for a while >:D
A shoutcast was mentioned... does OCR have like a radio station or shoutcast or some sort?
holy crap, that thread was alive over a week and a half talking about the LIVE HAZAMA PIANO shoutcast. we experimented this time, with a live audience... after they killed the show, wouldnt stop talking while haz was playing, and were calling me by my real name constantly.. i'm like... "Hey arent you bored" and the 'troublemaker' went home so.. its possible we'll have another 'live audience...' the main reason i was gonna have people over was so that AE and Gaffeizil could come over and 'jam' of sorts. so yea, i do a shoutcast around.. once a month or so. but it's not official ocr anything.
Btw, tell us about the instruments, Injury. Well, or just tell me, im curious about the sax.

Hmmm... didn't mean to offend... Only compliment.

I commend Injury's creativity and very good remix. the vocals were good, but indeed too quiet. i would listen to it all the time except for one fatal flaw...the song is brought down several notches by WAAAAY too much reverb. i have been known to be a little heavy on the 'verb myself, but there is simply too much in this remix. everything is muddled because of it. the piano sounds muddy, the vocals are faint. and its a shame because the performance and creativity aspects are so there. i would love to hear a v. 1.1 of this song with less reverb and louder vocals.

I like everything about this, except the vocals can get buried by the piano at times. I'm using rather good headphones. Balance the two out a little and it would sound quite a bit better.
Wonderful job.

It's really great, but a little distressing... Those lyrics are just for musical purposes, right? I mean, even though I can't hear it too well (I can listen to NORMAL songs and hear chinese), the lyrics sound like you think your bf is cheating on you o.o;;; I'm kind of big on life-long, trusting relationships... really o.o it disturbs me a bit. I've not been allowed to talk to my bf for 317 days today (...isn't that a prime number?), and I still won't give up on him. I believe he's waiting.. i'm waiting... erm enough about me o.o;;
Anyhow, I had to force my way through to listen to the song, but it's really great. Depressing, but nicely done; and no matter what anyone tells you, you can sing. If anyone wants to dispute that, they're obviously putting the headphones in their ASS instead of their ears. This has always been a great song to do a "soft mix" on, and ... it's definately soft! Perfect arrangement overall.
At any rate, good song, good lyrics, bad effect on the mind (unless you happen to be one of those assholes who's like "haha you fucked those four girls and your wife never found out" and needs to be shot in the balls  )

I'm hesitant to post this, because I seem to be in the extreme minority here, but this song does nothing for me.
I'm not saying it's a bad song, not by any stretch. The music is well written, and Starla is a talented vocalist. Yes, the vocals are too quiet, but that's not really my problem.
There's just something in this song that prevents me from enjoying it. It's not like I dislike sentimental music (I still get chills from listening to "Promise" from Silent Hill 2,) it's just that there's something that really prevents me from getting into this as an emotional piece.
I could just be a cynical, hard-hearted bastard, I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Some music still has the capacity to move me to tears, but this is not it.
Perhaps the effect is diminished because after watching Series 7, I can no longer take these kind of longing, weepie songs seriously. The love theme from that movie, entitled "Sweetness of Mine," basically reaches the apex of this kind of overwrought emotion and longing, and that song makes me laugh hysterically in its context. Anybody who has seen that movie will know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Just because I don't get anything from this remix doesn't mean you won't. Give it a try.

Indeed. I know Hazama isnt cheating on me... he's like mr. ubernice sweetyface lollyhappy buddy. To me, the lyrics are about like... a girl so in love with protoman.. but he is in love/lust with someone else... and she's totally lost him but is so lovesick that she's just like "let me die"... =]
And i'm just getting into the part. Maybe it resembles my past.. but certainly not my future... or present.
is your bf in the army/do you have evil parents or something? o_O!
about the reverb::: stats are, 87% dry, 45% wet and the decay's at 1.5... i mean like ... a whole 1.5 seconds of reverb... woo.. really drowning there.... this is totally a dry mix man. the venus mix was meant to sound live and dry and had like .8 seconds of decay, but was all like demihipassed and stuff. and had a slight delay... yea.
And about the review above me: i ADORE truth. thank you. it's what makes a difference in the quality, i'm totally serious. if you tell people that are crappy "hey your stuff is good," they wont try harder ... and will get all inflata-headed.. and will continue making crap. If you tell them "Hey, fix this part," they may improve or just quit. Hee.. also, just for note:: there were seriously tears in my eyes. i totally tried to emote for this ... i got some good reviews on that, and some 'no comments.' =]
i'd rather hear the negative. it tells me what to work on.

Wow.. I can't seem to stop playing it. On it's own, it's a great jazz-esque remix, but the addition of vocals adds immensely to it. Venturing off into new territory, and pulling it off well. Hope to see more vocal remixes in the future. :D

Brace yourself....here comes the negative review....lol
Well actually for the most part I think you did a good job on the song. The instruments are excellent and well calibrated. The only thing that keeps me away from this remix is.....
The singing. Don't get me wrong, you have a very nice voice, but I think the singing could have been better. Also as previously stated the level is too low on the vocals. Suggestions on improvement: Try singing in a higher key? Try singing at different times of the day? I dunno. It just feels like there are certain parts where you have found your focus, and others where it strays.....I love the music and instruments. Your skills in that aspect far surpass that of my remixes.
That is all.

I enjoyed (and still do...heh...) your song a lot. The only problem if I were to be picky is that when you sing some of the low notes in the song you start to have a raspy voice. Is it because your voice can't go that low, because you were crying (I think your post said you were crying sometimes when you were singing? ...forgive me if I'm wrong...I'm under the weather. :(), or because your throat had too much moister and you suffered from not trying to clear your throat (or whatever you call it...)...use lemons to cure that? Another downside is sometimes it's hard to hear your words. I can understand them 100% if I go to this website and read the lyrics along with you singing...other then that I get 90...maybe 100% now, since I've heard it so much ^_^.

Wow. Props to injury and whoever else was involved with this remix. Taking a great tune and adding original lyrics (which are very well written and excuted, by the way) is a touch that I feel is unique in its style. Very deep and interpretive, this remix goes a long way into adding the 'human' effect to song. Great work!

Wow... I'm crying here...
This is what I've been looking for in this theme ever since I first beat MM3 that day so many years ago. Injury really did well in bringing out the emotion on this one (to Injury: worry not about the soft singing. I do the same waaay too often. Beautiful voice!). I don't get emotional on a song very often, but this hit that one little tear-jerking string. Definitely a keeper in my book. And the fact that you wrote original lyrics to the song... ah, brings back memories of when I did the same (not this great though. I would love to give a male rendition of this song though if I'm able to learn the lyrics).
P.S. The whole female voice thing is probably what pulled that string.

Bravo to injury here. BR is a smooth, jazzy tune, like you could see a girl singing it sitting at the end of a piano. As for the vocals, they're spot-on; I only wish she'd have sung a bit louder. Without the lyrics, it's hard to decode it (you have a sweet voice, starla). This is recommended by myself quite strongly to my fellow Mega-fans, as it shows a different mood of the music: instead of being just soft and mysterious, now it's soft and romantic.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. That's all you really need to say to describe Blue Reflection. From the fastastic arrangement to Starla's great singing (those are some pretty deep lyrics too), this is damn near perfect. I only have one real issue with this song, and that is that is sounds like it was reverbed a little too much. However, that's not enough to make me not love this. Get this song now.

Well, here's my first mix. I'm glad to say that it's an excellent one! Quite a calm pace and relaxing. I don't usually like singing in a remix, but this one is an exception. The piano, horn/whatever, and strings really get my vote for the best part. The replacement instruments compliment each other to make the mix all around better. If you ask me for an opinion, I say get it.

Of course they sound similar, they're both based off Protoman/Blues' theme, hands down my favorite megaman piece ever.
Blue Reflection has this amazing presence, it's one of those songs that sends that shiver up your spine, like there's more to it then just what you can hear with your ears. Justice is done to the great piece it's based from, the lyrics are a great touch and fit like a glove.

Indeed, I've had this on repeat for some time.
Well, It's definitely an interesting remix. The vocals aren't too bad, and the background music is well done.
To me, it just seems like some of the lyrics don't fit.
Otherwise "Blue Reflection" is pretty good, and if you're curious, then give it a download.

Ok first off, I listened to this and it has NOTHING to do with megaman! Not a damn thing. As for the music, the music was good, well of course, it was Capcom. The Singer.....ehh... I've heard better but she was ok. However the lyrics not only had not a damn thing to do with Megaman, but the lyrics were sloppy and inconsistent.

On one hand it's a very sad song with (contrary to others opinions on here) very careful lyrics, in my opinion. If I just sit and listen, it makes me sad...
However, then I remind myself that this IS based off of Megaman 3... and then my mind just goes "what the 'fudge'?!!!' and I almost want to laugh at the absurdity of this emotional song being based on an 8-bit video game.
Also, contrary to what other reviewers think, the lyrics DO all have to do with Megaman 3, if you really think about it and you let your imagination go for a second and you bring your mind out of the realm of the repetive bullcrap story lines Capcom has tried to put over over endless sequels of the game. It's kind of like a Megaman 3 fan fic put into a song...
But regardless, it's good. I think Injury sings very well on this track, and the remix isn't bad, either. It's one I'll probably listen to over and over again.

Yeah, but its a "Remix" really, a tribute. I can't think of another track on OCR that has vocal lyrics to it except Game Over's "Little Mac's Confession" which is done by a real band. And there aren't any lyrics to Mega Man 3's, so I agree with DJ Pretzel's comment on how it takes balls to do something like this. Blue Reflection is different... no... It sticks out. I fall for good sax and slow music.

I loved the song.
Although I'd prefer an instrumental version at all.
It's not that Starla's singing voice is bad, it's quite nice actually, I just usually prefer these kinds of songs without vocals.

Yeah well, maybe the sound quality isn't top but that only makes it more real. Lyrics are often full of bs and ruin the song(that's why I like instrumental),but your lyrics really go well with the tune's feel, which is SADNESS. But sad is good...yeah.

Well, what can I say? This song is excellent. I very much love remixes with lyrics. Especially ones that I find pleasing to listen to. So, this song, most definately, gets my vote of 10/10.
Ok, I'm not sure why, but I love this song. It's probably from my love of Mega Man, coupled with the fact that MM3 is by far my favorite. i just fealt that the ending of it was the best altogether. The discovery of Protoman as MM's "brother" was, to me, very cool.
Anyways, I'm always open for a remix of the theme, since it is by far my favorite piece of MM music in existance. Also, I really like the lyrics, as the singing is devine. in my opinion it is at least. Right, well, this sing brings a beautiful sadness with it. One that makes you appreciate it even more.
I would love, very much, to hear another song like this. But I am having trouble thinking of a song i'd like to hear more than Protoman's theme done this way.
At any rate, this is definately my favorite song so far from this site. 10/10 seems low to me. So I'll christen the 12/10 rating for this song. It's great. Keep up the beautiful work.

Whoa, listening to this (again), its nice and relaxing, calm, and moody. The lyrics are deep, even though I now realize the verses are just the different ways of saying the same thing so it really is repetetive, but nevertheless, is a great song. Lovin this Starla. ^_^

Beautifuly AND perfectly done. The music is WONDERFUL and your voice (that IS your voice right? O_o') is OUTSTANDING!!! The only part that is a little misplaced is when you sang, "And I will not let you go!" I just thought it was a little to loud from the rest of the song. Don't get me wrong, this was a perfect 10/10, it just gave me a little jump when it went from soft and soothing to loud. Awesome work, keep it up!! ^_^

I concur. A beautiful song. It makes me wonder about Mega Man's perspective on Protoman.
BTW, there's one vocal that I found very cryptic:
|I fear there's something hidden there
|slowly killing you
|but to know is half the deed
|to rescue you
Is this referring to the defect in Protoman's energy system that's revealed in Mega Man: The Power Fighters? Dr. Light offers to repair it, but Proto declines. He and Dr. Light are the only ones who know about the defect, so I'm wondering where you got your inspiration for this and the other lyrics of the song.
Bottom line -- bravo. Keep up the good work, and make sure you never lose those pipes.

I really enjoyed this song, however I do have one negative thing to say about it. Although starla has a very pretty singing voice, it seems to me that there are notes where she is out of tune, especially when she goes down to the lower notes. It may be just me, or has any one else noticed this? I really like the song, but I find these parts to be almost painful.

Agreed. Part of the reason this song has dampened so many eyes is because we can sympathize with the "role" Starla is singing, and this is because we can hear the pain of that anguished soul in these parts.
I know I've already praised your song, but I can't say enough about it. Seriously, do you know the original composer? I mean, your lyrics...it doesn't sound like they were written for this melody. It sounds like this melody was written for your words. Bun Bun would be proud.

This is exceptionally beautiful. Starla has a pretty voice, and this song has a lot of emotion to it. The piano adds an interesting atmosphere, and I find this to be one of the best lyrical mixes on OCR.

I absolutely love this song, but I have a question... I don't know if anyone else is following the lyrics, but from what I've seen, the lyrics aren't complete. :( I'd like to know all the rest of them, 'cause well... that'd be swell. hehe.

Bonus points for adding lyrics. Video game music is awesome. Remixed video game music is better. With lyrics, it's just downright unbelievable. This song is awesome in the fact that it gives the music a voice that echoes its mood. To me that's what really makes this song. Definitely worth a listen. Definitely one of my favorites.

Well, I'm definately no connisuer of music of this sort. My taste in music tends to be the louder and more furious it is, the bettter.
That being said, I cannot stop listening to this song. And I have NO idea why.
Unfortunately for me, I'm about two years late for the lyrics page you linked to (>_<), and the lyrics that were posted on the song's description page are incomplete...
But, in my opinion, the voice is what makes this song beautiful. Your voice is so beautiful...I can't even begin to express it.
This song mellowed me out nearly completely when I first heard it, which, for someone as angry and harsh as I am almost all the time is QUITE the accomplishment. I don't care if I can't quite connect with the lyrics, or if I can't quite understand them all...they're beautiful and it makes me smile. It also saddens me, because I'm alone, but let's not get into that.
I compliment you on your work. Even if it may not be perfect, it touched me in a way most songs cannot.

this is awesome... however...
I have some probs with the way it acts as a depressant... I can't handle it sometimes... GAH! this thing never fails to make me melancholy like
10/10
( :( ) now I am also feeling very lonely listeningto this...
well professor yo-yo is signing off with a 10/10
+ very nicely done capturing the mood
- I am reminded of my perpetual lonliness by this song...
Ahhh... if my heart wasn't already beholden to another, you would have it. Well, actually, just the image of you that this song creates. I've never actually met Starla before so it would be kind of silly... okay enough with blind internet love. On to the Remix!
This gives you that sense of melancholy and longing that makes me say crazy things like the above statements. I really adore this track. It's a very hard piece to wirte lyrics to, let alone sing them, and it is sung beautifully.
HOWEVER! I agree with you, injury, when you say that this could have been recorded better. Louder, and with more emotion. Yes, more emotion. A lot of the sadness of this song comes from the background music. Listen to the pure version, and you'll see what I mean. Yet, the voice adds in something so much more sincere and wonderdul... Please please do it again! I know you can! You know you can!

w... wow... there's an amazing beauty within Starla's voice that just... I'm sure any guy here could fall in love with her just from this song. her voice is sweet, yet holds a horrible sadness as if the words in the song are her true feelings. if I wasn't at school, it's likely tears would be falling from my eyes after hearing this.
just.. wow. thank you again, Starla!

Wow. I'm a fairly emotionless person, and this song made me sniffle a little, thinking about my own inter-personal issues. A well-done rendition of this piece.
My only real negative thoughts are that one, your voice tends to get a little wobbly here and there. Part of it could be the emotion you've said you were feeling during this song. I can understand that; I've been involved with singing for many years and I know how nearly any factor can alter your sound; emotion, exhaustion, even recent consumption of chocolate and/or milk. I don't blame you for that.
The only other problem I have is that the lyrics on the download page are incomplete! I wouldn't mind learning this song to sing on my own, so I'm going to have to piecemeal out the last half of the song.
Otherwise, excellent piece Starla! Definitely worth a high grade by anyone.

Greetings and pleasant holiday hellos to those who'd have them.
I first downloaded the "Blue Reflection" remix on July of this year (2005). Since then, I've proudly kept it as a part of my music library, so to speak. The saxophone at the beginning seemed to reach out and pulled me into the music, which was highlighted by what I considered to be a wonderful piano tune. The lyrics also a very nice edition to the piece as well, and it felt as though Starla sang with true emotion. The music and lyrics together made for an unforgettable remix.
While I appreciate and adore this piece as it exists, I have been searching off and on for a while, now, for the "Pure" (instrumental) version of this song. Unfortunately, the only place that I could find that had it (Injury's website) didn't have it anymore, which is a shame because I'd like to hear it as an instrumental as well as a vocal song.

This song, no.... masterpiece is outstanding. The slow, jazzy vibe I get from this song everytime I hear it is wonderful. When my mother heard this, she thought it was an original song! Its that good! I have really enjoyed this song, and this remix is a keeper on my playlist for sure. The only thing I would have added would be a solo for the sax (I'm not sure, but it sounded like a soprano.

I was very impressed by the beginning, a very good sax that echoed enjoyfully. But the piano that followed was simply superb, along with a touching violin. It was a suitable tone for it, very bright, and those times where you rolled the keys instead of pressed was simply beautiful.
Your vocals may be low at some times, but the more power you gave your voice the better it sounded, like around 2:28, that was very good. Reminds me actually of the Little Mermaid, your voice sounds very familiar at least.
Different take on the Protomelody, but not in vain. Well done Starla/Injury, whatever.

A soulful...beautiful remix of an Inspiring Megaman tune, The opening makes you really feel and remember the game, To me makes me recall the few but sad moments in Megamans history such as Protomans Defeat where we all believed him to be gone for good, And the Vocals, Forgive me for not knowing who the singer is but the voice really speaks to me if not us all with that slow jazzy sound that I personaly think can speak to us all if we merely take the time to listen, Please Keep up the good work and contenue to share with us all, Thank you for the simply wonderful remix.

Dear Injury,
I have heard your song and it's perfectly describing how I'm feeling...over a lost friend, that I may no longer see. The fantasies I have been imagining, in the eyes of Mega Man, often bring me to tears when I play your song,
The saxophones and the starstriking blend of piano and violin make this song truly worthy of the "Protoman Whistle" concerto from Mega Man 3. Although I long to own the game from a gamestore, I think that when I pick up an old game like "Megaman", I think of the virtue, the teachings, in life and society.
Thanks so much for helping me (indirectly) to describe how I feel. I thought of asking you to email me, but it really depends on what the admins thoughts of that are.
NS
PS> I am starting to cry again just thinking on it. I wrote a poem describing my feelings. It's called "Friend of Time" and is a personally heralded poem. This should be read...could you email me @ phantomflashdance@hotmail.com?

If I had any practical arrangement or vocals skills whatsoever, I would do a ReMix of this ReMix. I already have a concept in my head. It would be the greatest ReMix in God's creation.
I agreed with the criticisms of too much reverb and Starla's vocals needing a boost to cut through the soundscape more. Nonetheless, excellent stuff. That was the REAL birthday review, Starla.
Why, oh why will you not make anything new? Even just on the vocal side! :'-(

I'm sorry that my feelings on this song as so contrary to those of the rest of you, but this is just a bad track.
She cannot sing.
It can't be said any more plainly than that: she doesn't have talent. Oh, sure, she's in key, but that's about it.
To put this into perspective, she's a week one American Idol cut. No, she doesn't even make it past the first round. No trip to L.A. No second look.
The song would be better off without her. If that fact sticks in your craw, so be it. Not every review has to be sugar and lolly pops. I believe the 'house special' here on OC is honesty, and that was it.

Kind of ROFL to read that, because a certain singer has got an amazing vocal performance that's waiting to be posted, collabing with another ultra-talented female newcomer. And there's some post production, but you don't get anywhere without the raw materials being good.
I thought "Blue Reflection" was pretty solid for the time. The vocals just should have been better positioned in the soundfield.

Beautiful, haunting instrumental elements that linger in the air like a haze, it feels like some of the ending songs to Metal Gear Solid that have that downright moody feel to them, but how you interpret the specific mood of the song can vary from person to person. If there is one thing that I think we can all agree on, though, is that this is emotive. You can argue mixing and performance quality as much as you want (I had a few issues with the technical aspects of the mix as well, but I'm not going to get into them since this is an old mix and I know starla has greatly improved her craft since 2002) but you can't deny that the remixer poured her heart out into this one.
Give this one a shot; you might find that the age of the song is a little off-putting but I still found it highly enjoyable for all it was worth :-)

I love Starla's voice. Really liked the song, it had a nice feel to it. Can't seem to find the lyrics anywhere.
Production isn't up to her stuff these days, since her voice is a little buried, but this is a pretty classy arrangement that still works well, and the lyrics are also good. The additional sections are seamless with the original source, and I really wish that I could hear her a little better, because the vocal performance is pretty emotional and has a lot of conviction behind it.
Check this one out for sure, it's still very good despite a few minor flaws.

I've always thought the vocals in this song were well thought out. Very emotional and, as OA stated, with conviction. The sound wasn't that great, but the excellent vocals and the lyrics behind them made up for it. Classic!

Am I the only one who was incredibly disappointed with that sexy, sexy saxophone faded out for the piano? A Staffroll/Protoman remix of JUST THAT would totally make my day. This... doesn't really do it for me beyond that. If the volume was balanced, perhaps I'd still want this, but as-is, it sounds like the singer is just mumbling most of the time.
