I understand that many of the removed tracks were removed for good reasons, but some of my favorite tracks of all time were listed as "too close to origional"

Is there some way I can recover these? I dont really care how little effort went into their creation, I enjoy the product as is.

Also, I would kill for a copy of the artist removed track "snowey caps"... =[

I'm pretty sure that most if not all of them are stored here (http://www.doulifee.com/Storage/OC_Removed/)

And, Snowy Caps (http://doulifee.com//Storage/OC_Removed/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_3_Snowy_Caps_Oc_ReMoved.mp3) is there.

I have an OC ReMix from Zelda 64 called Ocarina Boogie, downloaded from the torrent collections some time ago. The artist ID tag is missing, as is the case with many of the remixes from the old torrents (don't know if that's be remedied). Anyway, this track is not listed on the site anymore? I can't find it, and I really want to know who made this remix! Any help?

You can get it at OC ReMoved (http://www.doulifee.com/Storage/OC_Removed/).

The Black Lodge made it.

There was a particular Metroid mix from a while back. Im wondering if:

1. when remixes are no longer existent, are they stored somewhere here on OCR?

2. or are they just discarded?

If there's a topic like this already. forgive me. I just wanna know where the remix is...even forgot the name.
All I remember is the progression

-8-bit intro of samus' entry into brinstar
--techno-esqe intro of brinstar theme...and so it goes on.

I may be at a loss, but I liked that mix. Hope you guys can help.

I recently downloaded the full 1,500 song torrents, and I wanted to have the full collection. So I was wondering which songs here:
http://www.doulifee.com/Storage/OC_Removed/
Were not included in the torrent.

Thanks,

Correct. Once they're removed from the site, they're removed from all of our official distribution channels, i.e. mirrors and torrents.

Weird...

A while ago they had NiGHTS - SoftMuseumJam on there, and I did get that in the collection, but now I don't see it on that list...

So I don't think I have any of them, but happened to that song? I know I had seen other songs I had which were in the torrent. Anybody know?

EDIT:
That would probably explain why when I got it all, it only had about 1,375... had me confiused, lol.

Yeah what is it with Bart Klepka? I've noticed that a shitload of his remixes (all but one in fact) have been removed from the site with the reason being "currently unknown" for all of them, and now I hear that a bunch of them were removed without mention! Add that to the fact that NONE of them are on OC Removed.

Did Bart Klepka murder somebody or hack OCremixed and delete the whole site at some point or something?? To say that there seems to be a lot of silent hostility towards him would be a huge understatement...

Hahaha, way to overhype it. Reason is "unknown", because those removals happened before my time at OCR, and before anyone kept track of things like that. So I have no idea why they got pulled. My guess would be too much direct sampling of the original songs, but since no one seems to have them, I can't check them out. In any case, there's no negativity against Bart. He's still got one mix available on the site.

Yeah I suppose I did a little bit... but anyway, that's all well and good, but if that were the case, wouldn't those System Shock 2 mixes that Dafydd mentioned be be listed with the same "unknown" reason?

On another note, does anybody know where I could find a complete and up-to-date list of ALL the mixes that have ever been removed from the site? Or if such a list even exists? I don't mind snooping around to try and find them myself, but if I had a reliable list to reference, it would make things a lot easier.

My list is fairly reliable. As far as the System Shock 2 mixes though, I've never heard of them either being on the site or subsequently removed. But as I said, it was before my time. If anybody can pull up an archive.org entry or OCR v1 or v2 with System Shock material in the dropdown menu, I'd appreciate. Can't add stuff to the list that I can't verify.

I don't remember when I saw those SS2 mixes, but it was probably back in 2002 or 2001. They did sample from the original songs a lot, so I don't mind them being pulled, I just think it's strange there's no record of their existence anywhere.

EDIT: Well, here's one way to get to his SS2 mix... http://www.fileplanet.com/59803/50000/fileinfo/Shodan-(Hacked-Mix)

Latest archive.org index I can get for OCRv2 is from March 26, 2002:
http://web.archive.org/web/20020326062659/http://remix.overclocked.org/
Several of Bart's removed mixes are listed there, but no System Shock 2. Same with this June 10, 2002 archive (http://web.archive.org/web/20020610093206/remix.overclocked.org/alpha.php?alpha=S&type=ReMixes) from when the site went to v3. No listing in the "S" games. I'm pretty sure we didn't host it based off that, but I can bug djp later.

Well, Bart had over 50 remixes hosted on bart.overclocked.org. You may have just gotten it from there. Who knows, it could have been tagged as OCR even though it wasn't submitted. That's definitely happened tons of times in the community.

Hi there! :3 I'm fresh off the boat, but I wanted to post this somewhere! I want to find an OCRemix I think others might recognize, but I don't know where to post it. This is what it was going to contain though:

I'm looking for an older OCRemix. (I listened to it over 2 years ago, and it was probably a bit older than that.)
As far as what game it was from, I was pretty sure it was from the Legend of Zelda series.
In even more detail, I thought it was from Ocarina of Time.
The song was from either the Temple of Time or Zelda's Lullaby.
But I can't be too sure of that, because it doesn't sound exactly like them either.
Sound is harder for me to describe since I don't have the file anymore, and I'm I'm not a musician like everyone else. I think it was either techno or a harder rock version of the theme. Maybe metal?
I remember a lot of echoes, windy echoes, since part of the song was played with an ocarina sound, I guess? Lots of heavy guitar too.
The song was pretty long too, maybe up to five minutes?

I looked through and listened to just about every Zelda song I could last night and I couldn't find it.
I Googled the song, not that it helped.
I also looked through pages and pages of Zelda Remixes on YouTube and for such a good song, there was none like it on there.
Um... I really don't want to, but if it'll help more, I could try to sound out the song on there. D: I have a terrible monotonous voice, but I want the song again!

So yeah... if you know the song, I would love to know more!
If you know where I can post this, it'd help my search even more!

I'm just an artist and that song is really inspiring, and I wanted to listen to it to make a Halloween-themed picture this year. The song has a kind of dark, spookie-ish feel to it, but it's still really beautiful. (:

The Black Lodge - Ocarina Boogie

This mix was actually not a remix of any theme in the game, but was created using the ocarina sound in game.

I don't think it's really fair to host the OCReMoved tracks which were literally just arrange album rips. It gives credibility to the ripoff artists, which I think is unfair - people might assume that Munisho made the Bloody Tears mix when it's actually from a doujin arrange. If you're going to host them it should be REALLY clear where they're originally from.

Absolutely not, for the reasons that Andy mentioned, and I'm not arguing it any further, because I'm not having a discussion. Anything removed from the site because it was STOLEN is NOT to be mirrored, even if there's tagging identifying the original identity. It would be different if DC13 and "Munisho" had actually made those tracks and they were just standards violations.

Nah, this isn't frowned upon. As mentioned above, these mixes are available elsewhere online, though OC ReMoved is your best spot. The reason we removed them is because they're primarily based on sampling of the original tune, whereas we look for actual arrangements rather than "remixes" in the traditional sense.

This is another mix that I loved:

Hahaha, I'm very glad we didn't keep it, but I loved that song too. That's why I'm OCR's bad cop. But there was one fan, man, he pleaded and pleaded with us in the "Ocarina Boogie" review thread to keep it, and I just wasn't having it. Obvious removal candidate is obvious.

As much as the standardization/removal debates continue to spring up from time to time and cause controversy... I don't mind the occasional stirred pot if it leads to better remixes.

I recently switched portable music players and without noticing only put on mixes up until about 2008... and you know what I noticed? None of my favourite remixes were on there. At the end of the day, the exhaulted 'higher-quality' platform of having an official 'Overclocked Remix' is exactly that; a platform above the others. A publicity award for musical distinction.

If you want more 'mediocre' or less quality regulated video game covers there are plenty (http://remix.thasauce.net/) of places (http://olremix.org/) to go (http://dod.bossies.org/) for that. (http://www.youtube.com/)
