The mixing stage is over! And now, it's time to go to the voting stage.

This is going to be really different from what we've had in the past, so read carefully. All voting will take place at ThaSauce through here (http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC94). This is what you need to do -

Sign up there if you haven't done so already.
Select three mixes and rank them from first to third.
While not essential, a reasoning can be written to elaborate on your decision.
Click "submit vote" and watch the fireworks fly by.

You have until May 22nd at 4:59AM EST to vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC95!

The People's Remix Competition 94
PRCv4-16

Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! (www.doulifee.com/prc/PrcSong/PRCcommercial.wmv) PRC93's Eek the Cat related competition resulted with the first Win-By-Default scare since PRC74, with V optingly taking the prize.

For PRC94, he made this uncanny decision to go for a game that not very many people know about at all. In fact, even I was baffled when I first saw his choice. Can this be some kind of platformer that didn't leave Japan's shores?

http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC94_prc94.png

This next PRC honors will go to a flying something or other. Dont know what it is, or what the game is, all I'm working with is the cool image from (Snesmusic.org). and I listened to the SPC, and found (this song). its short as hell, but catchy!! Hoping to hear some crazy mixes of this.

Here ya go, cya!

Flying Hero: Bugyuru no Daibouken - Continue
SPC (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC94_prc94.spc)

Sorry guys, we're still stuck with an SPC. But this time I'm prepared to have some dedication, because all I've got left to do now is a viva when it comes down to college work. The MP3 and MIDI will actually come, trust me.

Before we move onto the rules, I want to state that for this PRC we're going to try a new format. The times will still be the same as ever, and the only real change in this is the voting, which we will explain when we get round to it. I want to offer my thanks to analoq for offering hosting operations from ThaSauce. The link you require is right here (http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC94).

Now that that's over...

GOOD LUCK!

Fine Print:
PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness.
There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed.
Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, May 19th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. Alternatively, you can also email your submissions over to submission@doulifee.com, though it would also help if you put forward a reminder in the thread.
You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix.
Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted.
The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double.
Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
Doulifée's PRC Archives! (http://doulifee.com/prc/PrcSong/prc.php) If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

the correct submission URL is:

http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC94

also: is this like the shortest PRC sourcetune evar?

Rexy
05-11-2007, 07:46 PM
Nope, the shortest one is still PRC41. That Ghostbusters theme was less than ten seconds long.
Thanks for the link fix. That's possibly the last time I'll try to view topics from the staff area. :p

Rexy, I know you said that you'll explain the voting later, but I just have one question. Do I have to have an account on ThaSauce before I can be able to vote?

Yes.
It's worth it though, the new system is the win.

V, whether you're collabing or not, you're not allowed to take part anyways. Regardless, whatever tracks you submit though will be portrayed as bonus tracks anyway.

Well I have a midi of my remix ready. Now all I need to do is convert to mp3.

Chickenwarlord
05-16-2007, 04:18 AM
I'm having a bit of difficulty converting to MP3. I've got it in .mid and .m4a formats. I prefer the M4A, but I'm going to need help getting an MP3 any way I can.
I miss my school's Macintoshes.

analoq
05-16-2007, 05:08 AM
how did you get it into .m4a in the first place?

Chickenwarlord
05-16-2007, 05:12 PM
I have a program which can convert most audio formats to an M4A.
Anyways, I got a friend to do the switch to MP3 so I should have my entry up later today.

analoq
05-17-2007, 10:08 PM
so who else is working on an entry for this?

it is challenging but i am hoping to show PRC some love this time around.

analoq

so either way, this round will be at least 3x as successful than the previous. (:

edit: got mine in. best of luck.

Uploading my entry right now. V's got some good taste; I'm glad he got me into this - I've never entered a community comp before. Here's a collab with ToN and Jildon. Props to them both, nice work guys. =)

yes, a reason is essential; the system won't accept your vote without one. this is a great way for remixers to get feedback, so please leave good comments if you can.

interesting batch of entries this time..

I just put N/A because Rexy said it wasn't essential :(

Sorry guys.

analoq

Aww I was expecting cheesy trance....

Regardless, very awesome entries from what Iv heard so far. Will register then vote

EDIT: umm... I just submitted my vote, and got a little 'Vote saved' message, which is all fun and dandy... but the ability to vote again turns up down the bottom. Programmers may want to check that out. If I revote, would that submit a new vote, or overwrite my old vote... in which case I'd want to have the ability to check out my old vote. Other than that, very nice interface, nice work on the suggestion analoq.

analoq

try voting again and see what happens ;) to spoil the surprise, it will just whine that you've already voted and ignore it.

having it show your vote instead of confusing you with another form would probably be better, though.

Voting is over. And now, who flew off with first place? It's time we found out.

Total number of mixes - 4
Total number of votes - 16
Highest possible score - 48

Chickenwarlord claimed the last place wooden spoon with 11 points.

FiremanJoe et al and Nutritious both debuted in second place with 30 points each.

And the winner of PRC94 is analoq with 34 points!

It had to be ironic - the guy who did the new website system had to be the winner of this compo. Still, nice work with what you did back there, and welcome back as well. I'm intrigued to know what source tune you would pick for PRC95, so either PM me or we could discuss it on MSN (and I WILL be there for once, lol).

With that in mind, I will meet you on Friday for PRC95. Until now, play safe and don't do any Superman impressions.

I'm suprised FJ's peice wasnt as well received... Seriously, the lyrics were stupid/crazy as hell! How can you resist 'I dont run Windows, its a crappy OS, Custom made colour coded woodblocks for me thanks'. I'l get him to paste the full lyrics in here....

That said, Analoq's was quite tasty, looking forward to next PRC: WTF may be joining in :D

Rexy

V, I thought he (they?) did pretty well. Four points from first place shows that. I even suggeted them in my vote to go sub it to OverLooked Remix because it sounds clever and witty enough to be able to be shown there.

I mentioned it in my vote and I'll say it again; is it me or do some of those lyrics remind me of Conker?

FiremanJoe
05-22-2007, 01:10 PM
mm, Conker. ;)
Thanks guys, especially V, for walking me the way through the process. I'm looking forward to entering more community comps in future. Thanks again to ToN and Jildon and congrats to analoq.
We might sub it to OLR, but I've got a few changes in mind first.
I'll be back to find out next comp's theme...*how about Pikmin?*
