Since no winner could really be declared considering Epic went MIA, Hemo has been chosen as winner.

We have a little interesting selection for this tournament. It will be "out of the norm", but hopefully people will still find it "cool" enough to join in!

This tournament's game shall be Puzzle Fighter!

In this tournament, we shall be doing the "round robin" format. Rules are simple for this. Default settings are mandatory.
You will be playing best 3 out of 5.

We will be using an emulator called Kawaks (http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/download.html), a cps1/cps2 and neogeo emulator. It has its own netplay option that does not require lan, so we do not need to worry about using Hamatchi. You can use whichever server fits you best to play your matches on. East coast should use "anti3d", while the West coast should use "fragbox". These two are the best for both coasts, and should help to minimize desynching and ping issues.

*NOTE*
Kawaks has been updated from 1.57 to 1.58, so please be sure to go get the latest version.



Sign ups end May 27th and Round Robin ends May 30th, so join in on the action!

I just realized how much Ifail at puzzle games today. My friend, who I can best in most competitive games, gave me a whooping in Tetris Attack this morning. Then, later today, I started playing tetris attack and failed miserably again.

Can't wait to start playing you guys....

I picked up a tense 3-2 win over CultureKoi.
I still have a game that is questionable against Hemo since we were likely desynced in game 5.

I think I gotta give him recognition for this: He had a 99 combo ready to utterly crush me in a very close round when I just barely slipped by with a smaller counter. Good games my man, good games.

Also, Kamoh, I have changed my avatar back to the Slayer one (didn't notice it disappeared...!), so if you feel it's worth it, you can switch it on the tournament board next time you update it. Thanks.

I am not approving the emulation tournament kamoh.
I did this god damn game because I didn't want bitching to ensue. THIS TOURNAMENT is about fighting games kamoh, and you know it. You have known that I didn't want to merge, yet you are doing that shit anyways.

Fragbox seems to be down for some reason, at least for those of us in NorCal.

This tournament was only made because hemo was placed as winner and Kamoh said that we should do Puzzle. Since the Emulation tournament decided to step in our "grounds", I am basically considering this tournament a part of the emu tourny. After this tourny is done, we are going back to fighting games only.

So ya, to whoever wins, sucks for you. Blaim Kamoh.

I think next tournament will probably go back to the bracketed system. For this round I just got really pissed that nobody was playing their bracket round matches (and it was a recurring problem), but I think that with round deadlines we can come up with a compelling and quick bracket system. No playoffs should last more than a week (from quarterfinals to championship), so do be aware of that.

I beat CultureKoi 3-1, earning a berth in the final, and now wait for the other finalist.

The final will be either the same format, or myself and the other player will decide on a longer match if we'd like. Since the outcome really doesn't matter, it could be as long as we want, and I'm going to work it out with my opponent.

Very much so. All of his stuff is really an interesting take on game design - and I'm not just talking about videogames. For myself, a person who creates sports and games for fun, and hopefully for a living someday, I take a lot of his work as a rulebook...

Anyways, all this puzzling has inspired me to play tetris again - I'm going to pressure the winner of EMU to select tetris cause it'd undoubtedly get numbers :)
