I enjoyed this. Although my feeling is that sometimes the huge bass at around 2.00 was a little out of time - it came in just after the 2nd beat but a little too soon. Also in terms of the timing, the section around 1.26 where you were glitching and playing around with the timing, i didn't feel like it stayed in time - although I could be wrong. I felt the sense of time was lost at this point - perhaps make it more rhythmically defined.
Also the bit at 1.36 only came in ONCE! That's my fave part of the original - I'd love to see it return at the end perhaps.

I'm certainly not a house expert but these were the things that struck me.

Thank you!
I know exactly what you mean, I tried to make this as disjointed as possible, maybe I over did it XD
I will try to do extention edits before upload the final. :D

ectogemia 11-05-2011 04:31 PM

I'm pretty confused. Why aren't you a posted remixer yet? This was excellent.

Anyway, my one, single, and only complaint is the total silence at 1:58. I didn't like that at all. Maybe keep the reverb going to fill that space?

Gario 11-05-2011 04:54 PM

Loving it. I think there's a little clutter in the upper range of the soundscape, though - too many instruments that have that high range in it. Doing a high pass on a few of the instruments might help clean that up a little bit.

The reverb, while appropriate, might also be creating some of the clutter that I'm hearing. If passing the instruments doesn't work well, cutting down on some of the reverb or high passing the reverb might just do the trick.

Personally I find the silence to be very fitting to the style. Just putting that out there.

I think this is great, though. Very fun stuff that I believe can pass, given that you fix the soundscape clutter a little bit.

AngelCityOutlaw 11-05-2011 07:56 PM

Chemical Remix is bitchin'. The silence doesn't bother me either. Actually, I really haven't found much to whine about.

Therefore, this is worthy of a dance gif

SuperiorX 11-06-2011 12:02 AM

This is pretty sweet. I really love the disjointed house/techno vibe to the piece. I like it fits the chemical plant style great. Don't really have any constructive criticism here to add, just wanted to say I really enjoy this mix.

EDIT: actually one question, why are there like 20 seconds of silence at the end of the track? I even turned my speakers up a bunch but I can't hear anything there...

Cash and Change 11-06-2011 12:06 AM

I'm liking this, good work. I agree with Ectogemia, the silence bothers me. I feel like it breaks the momentum of the song. A minor complaint in a well done track. I've listened to a bunch of your songs, I really hope you become a posted remixer soon. Good luck!

Incase someone wants to add this to a set (but i forgot to leave them a drum beat lol) :P

Im no longer submitting anytracks.

Hell i'll sub something if you guys think I should

Gario 11-06-2011 01:09 AM

Well, you put it in mod review, so that implies that you want to sub it, bro.

You will need to take the 20 seconds of silence off the end when you submit the track, though. The site hosts stand alone tracks, so mixing in tracks designed for DJs to mix into other songs creates a separation in the site. Just make the DJ version available elsewhere, or even request that a link to a site where you host the DJ version is put in the track description, if it's important to you.

Like I said before, though, if you clean up the sonic clutter in the high ranges of the track (and remove the 20s of silence) I think this would have a very good chance at being posted.

Level 99 11-06-2011 01:43 AM

Well, Mod Review DOES imply submitting a track. We've discussed this before: please don't set it to Mod Review unless you plan on submitting it.

SonicThHedgog 11-06-2011 02:56 AM

Ohhh, gotcha, guess I will sub this and upload the reupload I promised 4 says ago :D

Fixed the the High ends on the spectrum (what I should have looked at because Im not using moniters) It was acrually the lead bass and the overtone synth.

Also fixed the awkward ending :D

SuperiorX 11-08-2011 10:36 PM

So did you upload the reupload you mentioned 3 days ago that was a reupload of the reupload you promised from 7 days ago?

Just excited to hear the polished up version

Guifrog 11-08-2011 11:15 PM

DirRrRrRrRrty!
Detected a few timing issues from 0:48 to 0:55 and 1:29-1:35 btw. Still not too fond of the ending. But I dig it overall :nicework:

If you make your name onto the frontpage with this, I'm SO going to throw the biggest party.

ectogemia 11-09-2011 10:49 PM

QUICK, recommend some awesome comb filters for me, or at least synths that come with comb filters built in!

AngelCityOutlaw 11-10-2011 04:03 AM

What the hell is a comb filter?

Not that I use it much either since I sample alot of synths or use a sample pack, I use the OMG combfilter( I think thats what its called if its not tell me and I will look in ableton or cubase for the name).

Oh im submitting this track in evening and im posting a thread of fm8 patches, massive patches, absynth patches, and sylenth 1 patches that I use (alot :O).

And I might throw in some ableton live, cubase, and fl studio sets of things I finished.

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE - DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL!
Greetings -
Thank you for submitting your music to OverClocked ReMix. By doing so you are indicating that you have read and agreed to our Content Policy, available at http://www.ocremix.org/info/Content_Policy.
Assuming your submission follows our Submission Standards and Instructions (http://www.ocremix.org/info/Submissi...d_Instructions), and the link/attachment functions correctly, we will evaluate it as soon as possible, roughly in the order it was received.
Note that the judging process does allow for some mixes to be posted faster than others, depending on circumstances. Also, depending on how many mixes are queued, it may take anywhere from 1-2 months for your mix to receive initial evaluation.
After initial evaluation, a submission will either be...
*Immediately rejected (you will receive a letter informing as such)
*Placed on the judges panel for further evaluation (you will *not* receive a letter)
*Posted directly to the site without further evaluation (you will *not* receive a letter)
If, after initial evaluation, your submission is passed onto the judges panel, it will be listed as "To Be Judged" at the "Currently in the Judging Process" thread on our forums. You can check the status there at http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2819.
If your submission is passed onto the judges panel, their final decision (with feedback) will be posted in our Judges Decisions forum at http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15. For a submission that is accepted to the site, this feedback thread will *not* be publicly available until after the approved submission is posted.
If primary evaluation takes longer than 2 months, please send a reminder via our forums to one of the judges (http://www.ocremix.org/info/Judges_Panel). You can register on our forums at http://www.ocremix.org/forums/usercp.php, if you haven't already.
We are working to improve the speed at which submissions are evaluated - we realize the process may seem lengthy, but we believe ensuring a consistent benchmark for the site is important.
Thanks,
djpretzel & OverClocked ReMix Staff

Sorry, still learning about audio manipulation here. You sample the synths? Does that mean you aren't designing the patches yourself or using presets on a synth at all? Just messing with an audio clip of a sampled synth? This sounds pretty intriguing. Can you explain this further or recommend me a place where I can learn more about it?

A comb filter is dubstep.

Basically, it delays the input signal such that it phase cancels itself at certain frequencies. The end result is a muuuuch dirtier sound, usually something totally atonal and unrelated to the original sound. They create the craziest sounds I've ever heard. Very cool.

Darn forgot lol. But I think they would reject this mix for one reason that I will not say yet because maybe they will not :/

I make the patches, I just sample/resample them so I can use the sound with out the synth present, but not all synths I sample like chord based synths that I may want to change the cutoff automation or the chord, or some bass synths that I may want to change the cutoff or lfo pos, ring mod, phase, distortion, combfilter delay frequency or resonance.

I would not say the filter it self is "dubstep" since they prob have been around for very long time, but just abused in the electronica world featuring agressive genre's :D

But if there is such a sound that I want to edit (any sound), I can run the sample through a granular synth or other effects or just EQ the crap out of it to get the sound I'm looking for.

lol well if they do pass it, I know they'll make you fix that up, and maybe give the song a proper ending before it would get posted.

Yup! Just hope the process does not take 40 years : /

BlackPanther 11-13-2011 05:57 PM

This is pretty dope. That'll be cool if it passes. I can see why you called it disjointed lol. At first the disjointed parts threw me off, but then I was like, this is effing awesome lol =D.

I can't say what reason you have for it to be rejected (Unless it's the meandering of the arrangement, which it does a little bit... but that's not big enough to really pull the mix down), but if the silence the only issue they'll probably accept it and e-mail you in private telling you to fix the silence. No biggie.

Guifrog 11-13-2011 08:34 PM

Yeah, that could turn it into a conditional. Anywayz
