Game over for VGMix? NOPE
So, yeah.
http://www.vgmix.com Down for at least a week and a half now, based on when this thread over at The Shizz was created (there's no word officially about what's going on there either). Sad times, even if the site hasn't been in operating condition for quite awhile, it is part of the history of this community. Has anyone heard any confirmation regarding the current status of VGMix? The main site has been inactive for an eternity pretty much, half the mixes weren't even downloadable for some reason. I personally don't care about that site much unless it comes back without getting hacked one week later.
Now the one I'm concerned about is dod.vgmix.com, cause I know a lot of people were still all over that monthly competition. I've greatly enjoyed listening to each month's entries, and I know a lot of OCR remixers participated in those a lot. |

Not only that but man, MANY OC ReMixes started as DoD entries that were either refined or just directly submitted. It's definitely cause for concern.

DoD is fine. It will be moving to its new home at http://dod.bossies.org, and there is always the mirror at http://dod.redheadedblacksheep.net. There's plenty of dudes in The Shizz community who have the resources and are willing to keep DoD alive.

Thanks for the info, Kyle. That's good to know.
Well, the least that can happen now, if the site is indeed defunct and the new slim-n'-trim virt isn't going to bring it back, I hope he doesn't forget his holiday promise last year about the torrent or zip or whatever of all the archived songs. I miss them songs ;_;

Pretty much sums up my thoughts thought it's a shame how it pretty much died.

At this point, for the domain to be showing up with NOTHING they either deleted everything in the hosting account, or re-pointed it somewhere else, or a number of other things. We know 2 things: 1) They didn't let the DOMAIN just up and die. 2) They (probably) didn't let the hosting account go unpaid and die. Essentially this is happening more likely because someone DID something, rather than someone NOT doing something. VGMix is a domain that, like OCReMix, would be pretty much stolen immediately if it was let go. So...yea.

I personally don't visit VGMix often, but DoD was really important to me. Every month I had a bunch of new remix to listen about, some of those really good even if under OCRs standards.
I'm happy that DoD isn't dead and there are http://dod.bossies.org/ and http://dod.redheadedblacksheep.net to keep things going forward, but I would like to know that everything will turn back to normal in future |
