Thanks for the feedback, folks. This has definitely been sitting in my to-do box since before the flood of recent projects, and it kind-of got lost in the bulk of things until I got most of my WIPs out of the way.

I've never attempted a stereo-mic'd acoustic recording before, mainly for the reason that I don't have two identical mics and I'm not in the best room for recording but I see what's being said, and it would probably only be that much more noticable on a mix with a lesser number of acoustic guitars.

The next version will more-than-likely be the final, unless I receive some really big complaints about something I've added. Should get the re-records done soon, probably by middle November at the latest (I really need to start working on a "finish this song before starting another song approach" again).

You guys are all awesome. Wave-o'-babies awesome. Hocking the final version of this atcha soon!

The difference between WIP1 and 2 is insane. I just wish the higher-frequency buzzing/fuzz in the first half was somehow quieter, even though it's quite quiet already.

Ladies and Gentlemen...here is the proposed final version. I will be subbing it next week. If there is anything else you can recommend, PLEASE DO IT. Otherwise, I'd say this is final:

Edit: New version of final, with some slightly tweaked mastering. Thanks to LuIzA and OA! Also changed the name.

Yes! I think this has really come together! WIP2 was a lot better than WIP1, and this successive update pretty much sounds complete. I think the solo at the end, although not quite what I expected, sounds great and fits in well.

Overall I'd say it's great. I really like the interpretation and the style of the piece. We don't hear enough acoustic guitar remixes!

Solid work. Hard to critique the play-style - just solid. This is a really relaxing tune to listen to - I quite like it. It may be a little liberal with the source, but I can't honestly see the judges finding too much to complain about.

Then again, I'm not a judge...still, I quite like it. Good luck with the submission!

Thank you for the feedback, folks. Thanks to some super-awesome people, I got some addition pre-crits and fixed some mixing issues. This is all set to sub next week. I'll be looking for it in the queue at some point in the future!

And, thanks to everyone's mentioning about the secret underground love of acoustic remixes, I may just do them more often now. Thank you, WIP boards! <buddy hugs>

Edit: It has been officially submitted. Godspeed, little mp3 file!

Very interesting take. I never thought I would hear an acoustic guitar licking out mega man music!

In general, I pretty much hate acoustic guitar as a solo instrument. But I think you've done a nice job here. The guitar sounds good, there isn't too many artifacts other than pick scrapes which I'm sure you intentionally left in. It's nicely EQ'd, but not so much that it would be noticeable that you did anything but just play the guitar.

There's a couple of parts I bet you wished you had 2 arms for haha. good job overall, I wonder what the judges will think?
