You know, for all the shit Capcom has been getting in this thread alone, I gotta point out that whoever is responding to your emails sounds honest, eager, and professional. Say what you will about the business and legal robots behind them, but give their community team credit for trying hard to make this a good experience.

Agree with Callas here. Definitely not a form letter, and as someone who regularly deals with a mountain of submissions, I can relate to their position.

They've been pretty cool dealing with me, definitely. Which says a lot, because I've been asking a ton of questions. Whoever is on their side answering this stuff must be crazy patient.

A lot of the stuff the guy is stuck replying to people is stuff that should be public knowledge, and everyone should have gotten a confirmation when they submitted their song. But yeah, I thought the guy was cool. And it does feel better knowing they never received my song, rather than they received it and it lost.

This was mentioned on the Capcom-Unity forums, and then some forum-goer was all like "they don't have to give you anything" or something like that when Bonkers brought it up.

Sure, they don't "have" to, but in the end it probably would have severely increased the quality of their album, considering people would know if their song was received.. and could take the necessary actions to re-send it if they knew it wasn't.

I'm not talking about me. But the John Petrucci or Prince of Darkness out there who made a badass bitching song for this, or even BONKERS-esque individuals for that matter.

I just said it's common courtesy, the sort of thing you'd expect in this day and age. Paraphrasing, of course. I too sometimes wonder if all of my submissions went through, considering the song they chose for the remix CD.
