Though, with the direction this remix is going right now, I don't think that a bigger beat would work very well.

So, here's an update addressing some of the problems.
No new content, yet. I'm thinking of going to the chorus next from here? You guys want that, or do you want some more build-up type stuff? |

What program are you using? I think a big issue is the samples your using or the refills? This is an improvemrn though. I'd suggest playing around with the arrangement some more also, to make it more your own

The biggest problem is the quality, definitely. I really can't give any advice, because the samples sound like they're Genesis-era quality, which makes it hard for me to think about the arrangement.

The program I'm using? Reaper.
The samples I'm using? Mostly made with DSK Bluez and Oranze. Will try different instruments, I suppose. Once again thank you for pointing out this issue; your feedback is always appreciated and I will do something about it soon. Last edited by 2manygentlemen; 08-21-2012 at 05:43 AM. |

I'm not sure I'm familiar with Reaper.

I've made changes to the instruments. Hopefully it doesn't sound so Genesis-y. Nothing else has been changed yet, as A: I want to get the instruments to a point where they're acceptable and B: I don't quite know where to go to next. What sort of stuff should I be doing if I want it to be trance-y from 0:42 onwards?

Interesting arrangement. It sounds a little like if Flying Battery was composed using the Goldeneye 64 instruments.
Your remix is short, but its a WIP so it's excusable. As you develop your song, try to capture some of the intensity of the original. The source was very fast pace and catchy, even with sound limitations. A good example of a Flying Battery remix that captures the essence of the track would be SnappleMan's "Dead Batteries" from Project Chaos. To get this on OCR, the instruments need an overhaul, but I'm not the person qualified to describe specifics. My general advice would be to listen to other recent remixes (ie past 200
