This is one of my top two favorite tracks from the album, and I'm not surprised that Hy Bound was so influenced by Hybrid - that's my favorite group. Excellent work all-around.

Got pretty liberal in some ways, but the source was never far away here. Very creative arrangement. Some really impressive stuff, this was definitely one that caught me off guard with the project and really had me paying close attention. With the right subwoofers, those thumps would shake your house down. Excellent debut.

One of my favourite remixes on the album. I especially like the use of bells.

Well utilized synths and a great atmosphere, it started off a little slow, but picked up very well, and at 7+ minutes, it can afford to.
The source was a bit hidden (with a few obvious exceptions), but it didn't take much digging to find it right under the surface. This is a difficult mix to initially get into for a lot of people because it walks a fine line between having a lot of energy and being laid back, and it frequently goes back and forth, but the creative writing, great production, and superior attention to detail make it really rewarding if you give it a few listens. I hope in a few months when people become more familiar with this one that we'll see some more reviews on it. |

It's always great to see newcomers to the scene making fantastic contributions like this. I was certainly not expecting to hear such goodness from the source material, but Hy Bound came along and made Mark of the Beatsmith one of my favorite arrangements on the album. The progression -- in pace, intensity, dynamics, and the music itself -- as well as the absolutely spitshine slick production effects made this a track to truly absorb and enjoy.
Here's to hoping that this gem won't be Hy Bound's one & only contribution to the site!

Thanks for the comments guys! I really appreciate them.
Truthfully, i didn't expect this to get passed or even submitted... It started out as something completely different and then got a Hybrid overhaul to it. It turned into something that wasn't quite as approachable as what I had first imagined, but I'm glad that you guys like it. And yes, I am going to be submitting more and more as time goes on. |

Wow, great mix. This is my favorite in the project. It has a very unique style to it that I haven't heard anything similiar to, and I've listened to a lot of oc remix. I especially like the build up of percussion throughout the song (mainly comes in around 5.30) from the slow and softer part of the song at 3-4 mins. The different timing structure you do with that original ff7 melody removes the repetitive nature of it to a good extent. The ending piano piece at around 7.00 is icing on the cake. This song is full enough for me to enjoy and really get into the 'mood of the song,' unlike some of the remixes which only come in around 2-3mins.
Looking forward to more remixes from Hy Bound! |
