I think I figured out one of the reasons I like this so much- it reminds me of some of Sopor Aeternus' instrumental work. The subdued, somewhat minimalist and sectional arrangement just really appeals to me. The subtle harmonic and melodic variations masterfully reimagine the original themes in a way that puts most mixes to shame.
*This* is rearrangement done right. |

I like this. Although...the one melodic change you made to Auron's Theme makes me uneasy. It just doesn't feel the same.
In general, though, although the samples might not be the best, it has it where it counts. Arrangement. Emotion. These things a true ReMixer seeks. ;) Congrats, and nice work, Sal.

This piece manages to bring about the emotion of the game without having to listen to all the annoying nasal monologes of the main character. The one thing i really loved about FFX, and it is not my favorite FF by far, was how well the music and the imagery brought out the emotions of the game, a task that the horrible voice acting failed to do. To Zanarkand is probably the reason i was most interested in the game when it first came out.
This mix combines the themes well, to create a suble, emotional piece that makes good use of some nice guitar (the opening reminds me of the softer music from Trigun and Cowboy Bebop) and a nice string sample at :30. Another highlight for me was the entrance of the strings at 1:20. Nice and full. Joins in well. The biggest problem i had was that the mix stopped and started again when switching themes. It sounded nice, but it didn't flow. Still, its not even a big problem for me. Just pointing it out. This sounds wonderful. It has that epic cinematic feel and a beautiful sound. 95/100.

Aw, this is very good, no techno, trance... this is something I haven't heard in awhile from OverClocked. I love this style, and you did a great job, congrats on the mix.
Keep up the good work!~ |

I'd just like to start this review off by thanking Sal. Auron was by far (and I'm talking in terms of light years) the strongest character in the game and my favorite, and his theme was one of the stronger tracks on the iffy FFX OST.
Very good stuff here. Nice and simple, but powerful remix of Auron's Theme. Thanks for this most importantly. The rest of the song is equally as powerful. And I noticed you couldn't resist a touch of To Zanarkand. Fine by me. :) |

my only complaint, if you even want to call it that, is that it stops around 2'09 and changes theme this kind of hinders the feeling, great emotional epic (which happen to be my personal favorite) with alot of highs and lows overall a excellent mix

Beautiful! As someone already mentioned, this piece brings out the emotions you experience in the game. Kinda makes me sad to listen to it. And I gotta say, I almost let a tear drop at 4:41.
