Yasunori Mitsuda scoring this game would be a wet dream. Hitoshi Sakamoto would also be amazing.

I swear, first Monster Hunter 3 and now this. I'm starting to get really really excited! The music on the FFXIV site sounds really good so far.

So they've mentioned that they've come up with new ways for people to play, develop their character, as well as things they've learned from other MMOs and FFXI. My LS buddies and I came up with the following:

It might be possible if they add some kind of public quest system like Warhammer in that people could complete area specific quests with other people for certain rewards. a distinction with this would be that the players would have to actively join an alliance with other players in order for all of them to collect said rewards.

Storyline was a big focus in FFXI, although it was a pain to get through due to all the grinding of levels required to be able to survive. Being they're coming up with new ways to develop your character, it's possible that they'll put a greater emphasis on story, while having your characters level upon completion of important storyline quests.

In terms of actual character development, it's possible that there could be some kind of point allocation system akin to FFXII in which you could basically custom tailor your class to be whatever the hell you'd want it to be or something.

This is all just speculation, but hey it's always fun to dream.

A Sakamoto is fine too. Though I have to admit, I am quite pleased to find out Uematsu is doing a full FF OST again.

I wonder what will happen to these online FF entries once they finally decide to take down the servers. It would be rather odd to have one of the numbered Final Fantasy entries just vanish completely.

Deep inside, I nurse the hope that they will release a single-player modification of it at the end of the game's life. Or a kit for creating private servers. Or something.

Pie in the sky. I know.

If you're talking about FFXI, they've said that they're going to keep the servers going for as long as there are players. If the population starts to dwindle they'll probably merge servers so that each one still feels populated. Even if it goes as far as getting compressed down to just 1 remaining server I bet they'll keep it going for a looong time. I mean, just look at Everquest :o

Why let them release it? Private FFXI servers have been around for forever... haven't they? I kind of assumed every MMO out there has private server versions of it running.

I know this isn't exactly a sequel to FFXI but I hope to god there is something similar to a Samurai class in the game. I hope they keep a lot of the job classes actually. Now that I'm really thinking about it, there's not too many viable known job classes left to do unless they are abandoning past FF cliche jobs.

Hmm... can't wait for this to come out, been waiting for a sequel to FFXI for a long, long time.
