Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc.: Nobuo Uematsu's original compositions on the Final Fantasy series has been and still remains a huge influence on my original music style. I took the original arrangement of Matoya's Cave and meshed it with my original style--which consists of classical, rock, progressive rock, and metal. I stayed fairly close to the original composition throughout most of the track, aiming to mimic the sound of the orchestral instruments used with just my guitar, amp, and very few Boss Pedal effects. I added an interlude and solo section in the middle of the track to highlight my unique style of lead guitar work over a chord progression reminiscent of the original track.

Super upbeat, which is a fun take on the theme. The playing is clean, and everything is well-balanced. As you said, there isn't a huge amount of variation on the theme, but the personalization factor is there, and you have a good solo section. Overall, this isn't the most unique take on the theme, but it gets the job done nicely.

Arrangement is very conservative n a lot of ways, but the interlude and solo were a nice touch, as well as the small and subtle flourishes throughout. The drum writing was a little bit vanilla, but is a decent throwback to the classic rock style, and there were enough minor twists to keep it interesting.

The guitar tone was perfect for showing the nuances in your playing, and really helped make the track sound unique and interesting. Definite props for not cranking the gain to 11 in this case.

Overall a close call, but based on the personalization and nice and clean sound, i'm more than willing to give this one the nod.

excellent source tune. :D

agreed on the conservative factor, it's almost cover territory until 1:17, when the arrangement really takes off. the rest of the track has lots of good variation. excellent guitar tone and performance. I thoroughly enjoy this mix.

Happy rock! Can be hard to maintain a heavy feel with this kind of stuff but you've done it pretty well. Echoing OA with praise for keep your gain low. Can be a pretty exposing experience for a guitarist, but you clean up well :3. Arrangement is pretty cool, plenty of layers going on. Nothing further to add.
