Streets of Rage 2 'Badass Posse'
This is pretty badass. Great percussion and piano and guitar and just everything. it's the kind of arrangement just you want to smile and listen to. It's just fun. |

Pretty basic percussion, a good, tough acoustic guitar (patch, I believe), some good piano, and good composition skills - I would expect nothing less out of McVaffe. It has some cool solo's and mixups, and is a pretty good mix, but it's not as masterful as some of McVaffe's other mixes (such as Super Mario 64 'Liquid Mario', Sonic 3 'IceCapped', and Castlevania 4 'CastleTrance'). It fits the title well, though.

Some of the background of this rather cool track is reminiscent of Protection 1 by the disturbingly weird group Coil...

Nice, McVaffe!
Pleasant the part that touches to the 01:57, when the strokes move. The piano sounds pretty. :)

Compared to Gecko's fizzy version this one sorta falls flat. It is not without its charm though! The ranges of sound in this mix are a bit tamer than the outrageous collection of sounds used in Gecko's mix but it all works nicely. I dig the guitar and piano. All in all this is solid MCV work. Hes just on a different level than the rest of us!

Badass Posse is right! This is perfect music to listen to while wandering the tough streets, maybe with a burst of impromptu dancing, and snapping your fingers in time.
The synths and acoustic guitars are nicely balanced on their respective left and right turfs, and when the acoustic makes a quick dash into enemy territory, the effect is startling and pretty cool. The drums are very nice, and the rhythms don't change a lot, but the fills are all very interesting. The best part is near the end though, with both the panning guitar and drum breakdown, and then comped piano solo. Awesome work, and highly recommended. |

Nice mix that's stood the test of time. Kind of a chilled out version (at least I think so) of Under Logic. Very cool and creative use of acoustic guitar. Piano, of course, is classic McVaffe.
So, who's the other mixer DJP refers to in the writeup? |
