Default OCR00030 - Contra 'AMEN Reflux'

Contra 'AMEN Reflux'

This is an "old school" DJP mix so of course it has the flanging/warping instruments and whatnot. Back in the day I could spot a DJP mix a mile away as they all had this very distinctive sound to them. Since then DJP has branched out and really improved. Still, this mix pretty good! Kind of has a "disco" flavor to it like his Space Harrier mix, which wouldn't be my ideal choice for a genre, but it still is a pretty good mix!

Actually there are two different codes, infinite lives, and 9 lives per continue. Both are on sale @ GameSkins.com (I've got the Konami code one)

I downloaded this mix a while ago, but never really got around to listening to it. Strange, as I'm a HUGE Contra fan (I got a plug-in amp for my Game Boy just so everybody at school could hear the Operation C Contra goodness oozing from the speakers, and also got threatened a lot as a result.) I like it. It's not a straight up note-for-note beat for beat mix, which I usually prefer, but there's definitely something to it that keeps me listening. Not really the sort of mix where you can hum along even though you've never heard it before. I could definitely see myself using this mix as one of a few that I use to convince my friends (huge gamers, themselves) that there is actually some merit to game music. Download it, you IDIOTS!

I didnt really like this remix.
The instruments were to "unclear" warped? and disted.
the hihat was the most irritating sound.

i mean there was no relaxation.. the kind of nostalgia kick you usually get when you really recognize and love an old song..
to fuzzy and blurry instruments
i went kinda dissapointed when listening to this..

probably the worst remix dj pretzel has made..
all his other is high quality goods..
but this . i dont like

this remix was okay, contra has good music but not really for techno, a good site to get a rock remix for contra is www.minibosses.com, they also have a great megaman2 remix, check it out

DJP's older stuff has a sort of, "cartoonish" sound to it. Like some kinda crazy all over the place effects processing, and interestingly matched synths. Pretty much all of his old mixes had this sound and this one's no exception. A pretty bland reinterpretation that doesn't really feel like it takes any risks and uses some pretty lame synths. Thankfully, DJP has gotten a lot better nowadays.

Arrgh, I'm going back and listening to the "bases loaded" mix, this one's too goofy for me :(

I don't know why but this remix just kinda grabs ahold of me and won't let go. I wasn't too sure about this song when I first listened to it but it's grown on me and wierdly it's one of my favorite remixes. It's just so wierd and wacky and stuff that it has it's own charm to it.

8.7/10

At first I did not care to much for this song, it was ok. But after awhile of listening to it you become rather fond of it.
