Default OCR00733 - Chrono Trigger 'What Hath Thou Done with This'

Chrono Trigger 'What Hath Thou Done with This'

Fairly standard techno track, but there are some nice musical ideas here (such as the piano solo). Personally I thought the sounds were a little thin and that made me not enjoy it as much as I could have, but it's a worthy first submission nonetheless.

I feel icky after listening to this piece. It's like... "eww! get it off me!" Am I being harsh? I don't know. What suprizes me most is that orkybash says "Standard Techno," which I suppose it is, but I usually very much like techno where others don't. Maybe my taste in music is evolving, or maybe (as orkybash also stated) these samples are way to thin. And please, oh please, kill that lead instrument PLEASE! If this were a live band, I'd seriously want to break that instrument. But then again, I doubt it would bother me so much if it were live, and the instrument probably wouldn't slide around like my dog in a skating rink. Anyways, those are my thoughts, please don't hurt me for thinking.

Yeah I agree with you guys that my sound font is rather thin... cuz well... I have a computer from 1996... lol... I would like to have better sound fonts... or even a nice keyboard... but I gots no money... oh well... so I guess in order to appreciate my stuff you'd have to listion to the musical stuff more than the sound quality... But see for yourself, the rest of my stuff is on vgmix... the last one I did has natural instruments in it... (but they all have that horible synth lead, that I'm beginning to hate) I thought it was a good sound till you all hated it... LOL So expect better quailty as I go on... but no promises!!!

I thought the remix was good. I didn't much care about the original, but listening to the remix makes the tune enjoyable. It's not the instruments that you use, it's how you use them. And the way you did this is just fine.

Don't be giving me this cliche "It's not the size, but the motion in the ocean" stuff. The instruments you use compliment your arrangment, so in that case if your arrangment is amazing and your instuments are horrible, it's going to balance out to be a mediocre song and therefore ruining the amazing arrangment. Compliment your arrangments by using the best instruments you can find. It's not like they aren't out there and widely availible.

On the other hand it is a point that should be made that if the arrangment is good, it should be said so whether the instruments are horrible or not. I wouldn't call these instruments horrible, just that they could be much betther. The arrangment is good, for techno.

I liked the remix very much, especially the piano part about 2 minutes into the song!!! I couldn't remember but was this remix a remix of "Frog's Theme", or not?

Default Don't listen to them!!!

DEAR TO ALL WHO GO AGAINST THIS REMIX,

Of course we all have our views and ideas. We all have our likes and dislikes...but to be so harsh to a mix like this just is'nt right. The fact of the matter is that if you all can do better than this guy than prove it.Don't
just sit there and shout about it do something about it.I personally found good things about this track, and understand and respect this remixers hard work that he put into this mix.Arrangements and reworks are never that easy to do,you need a plan, direction, motivation, drive, and know how to even pull something like this off.So until i see you people on this site remixing and making music that is great and makes people feel like shit,i will remain stuck on this one thought.People hate what they cant do,and i will admit the sound isnt the best but then again wasnt alot of game music to begin with ? we still fell in love with that with all its bad sound quality. The fact of the matter is this....music should speak for itself and how it sounds shouldnt be a factor to bring it down.I really enjoyed this mix..and if i didnt i wouldnt have even spent my time typing about it.

7*'s out of a possible 10 "ALL WHO DISAGREE WITH ME ARE JUST
HATIN''.....

My, I do like this one. I understand about limited soundfonts (hell, you should hear some of my early work. Or better yet, don't), but I think you've pulled it off well. Especially the piano section.

Great stuff. :)
