Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Man, what's with all the Sega from McV these days? Actually, this one I received a LONG time ago and it's just by chance I posted it AFTER the more recent IceCapped ReMix. I had strong feelings for that IceCapped mix, which I loved in a BIG way, but this one's almost as good, which means it's GREAT. Very different though - lite, with a bit of a latin thing going on with timbale, bongos, woodblock, and I think a vibraslap even works its way in there for a bit :) Some INSANE jazz flute bits here - I do believe this is the most McVaffe has soloed in any of his tracks, and he does a damn good job. Of course, production, processing, and flow are all great. The only thing I'm not 100% gung-ho on is the fade at the end - would have loved a latin "cha-cha-cha" bit to wrap things up. But that might have been cheesy, too . . really, to listen to IceCapped and then this is just so indicative of the massive force that is McVaffe, and his prowess at doing things oh so well. Get it.

Definately some Latinlite going on, but I like it. It's a cute mix.
Would have liked the first flute part to be sharper sounding like you hear just a bit later. Seemed a bit too legato at first.
Again, I can't say much more than it's a cute little piece that's fun to listen to.

I gotta disagree with KogeJoe, I think that flute solo is hot, and then another banging piano solo? How did I miss this song for so long?
The sequencing on this is great, and there are tons of details that really set it apart; compared to a lot of the 2001 OCR releases, the quality of this track is incredible; subtle and expertly panned percussion, well layered backing instruments, and a ton of solo goodness. Some of the samples are weak, such as the harp, but the way they are layered really plays to their strengths.
Fantastic work, and a great surprise for the beginning of the week.

The song lends itself to a good latin beat.
Only problem I find is, I think the remixer could have done more. There's that flute again...
Don't get me wrong. Flute CAN work in the correct setting. LATIN even. It just... doesn't work here... And I heard a wrong note in the base in the bridge area.
The chords are IV, *I6, and a I6/4, and that wrong 4th scale degree really throws the music off.
OK work. Needs improvement though.

Wow! Once in a while you find a song that just blows you away, and I think I just found one! This song has definitely changed the lens on my musical glasses. It was the first of McV's songs that I've heard and that's what got me hooked on his music specifically! All the soloes tied together create a nice harmonic piece that's lively and irresistable to the gamer's playlists. Anyone reading this should also thinking about getting Ice Capped, from my perspective it isn't quite as good as this one, but it's another one of those songs I listen to on a daily basis. To me, McV is the game music god of them all, even better than djpretzel (remember this is my opinion). Check out McV's site at www.gamemusician.com for most, if not all, of McV's songs.

So I was listening to this track YET AGAIN and I had the insatiable desire to tell the world how unbelievably amazing it is. Every time I hear this track, it gets better. I'll be chilling and will pick up something new in the background that I hadn't noticed before.
I haven't even played Sonic 3 and I love the track. I can't even imagine how much this track would rock if I had played it. Unsurprisingly, another great track from McVaffe. Keep 'em coming.

YES! My favorite track in the Sonic 3 soundtrack remixed by MCV himself , could it be any better! This is an excellent track with a really good salsa/latin feel too it. I really dig the piano in this mix. The flute solo is cool but the piano just sounds so bad ass. Good work MCV you are a god!

These strokes if are similar with the ones of the first phase. I believe in this.

Now I heard this remix. The Bonus Theme. That is uncommon. The rhythm is exotic. The strokes are diversified...
I conclude judging this incredible melody. The piano enters in harmony with the flute.McVaffe has a good hearing.

It had my feet tapping...which is good cause I normally dont groove to the music Im streaming when Im in the fourth floor IT lab...
Anyways, I quite like it.
I like the choice of instruments, yes...thats prety good and I like the style you went for, but when it cuts to the flute playing the melody it sounds kinda like muzak that they play in supermarkets...and then the piano solo enforces this.
Not that is necessarily a bad thing...Im just not in a muzak mood right now.
Another solid remix from McV.
Well done, sir...this is brilliant ^_^

Another stellar McVaffe track. Wonderful arrangement and instrumentation
all around. The steel drum lines are livley and bright. A great little track
indeed.
