Great gobs of panache and style just drip down from this latest Earthbound ReMix from the man who flips 'em fast and delicious - the one and only Pancake Chef. This is another hybridized mix that changes character two-thirds of the way through and basically jumps genres from a saucy Rhumba to a slower instrumental ballad thing. The Chef pulls off some acoustic emulation jiggery with a beautiful acoustic guitar and a very nice trumpet as well. VERY groovy intonations and blue notes thrown in for good measure, and the guitar twang pitch-bends actually come off cool too (these can often sound cheesy). I'm not entirely sure what the 'I miss you' vocal sample in there is about, but it's kinda quirky and I like it. That sample is the segue into the slower ballad portion, which becomes solo guitar that is gradually joined by dynamic, lush strings. There's quite a bit of music here, for just over 3 minutes - it feels a lot longer, but I mean that in a good way. Very mature, well-produced, and interesting to boot - yeah.
The piano has a great feel to it, and the guitar has some nice ideas.
I love the source of the second song a whole lot, and it's melody makes the mix a lot better, just because it's something I really like.
Objectively, this is pretty much a medley, despite it's pretty strong transitions, and the samples are slightly higher end GM. I think the concept is cool of the crew going into a hotel and then dreaming about back home as they sleep, but the additional arrangement is somewhat lacking; it's just really close to the source.

On the positive end, I absolutely loved the opening. It pretty much follows the original hotel theme, but the piano part is what really makes it so awesome. Sadly, it only remains for a short time and disappears for a good minute, reappearing before the fade out to the guitar part.
Ah the guitar section. Again, you can't get a negative response from me using this theme. One of my top 20 VGM themes. However, this solo acoustic guitar rendition could have been improved in my opinion by more realistic samples.

The song here starts off with a great emotional sounding latin trumpet then later moves onto guitar
The soundstone melody sort of threw me off here and sounded out of place but it quickly goes away
"I miss you" Perfect for this song
At 1:43 why do the background instruments fade out? They were sounding good but oh well, the excellent guitar tune makes up for it with all those bends
Anyways, another great song proves the Pancake Chef to be one of my favourite mixers

Earthbound fans are bound to be delighted. Hell, *I* am, and I HATED the darn game... but that's just me. Anyway, Pancake chef serves up a double helping here, first with a latinish mix that sounds awesome, then with a voice sample fades into a simpler, more touching melody that's equally awesome (but doesn't last as long). Regardless of your opinion of the game, I would highly recommend this remix.
