I was a big fan of texx sound's initial Jurassic Park submission - to me it showed surprising subtlety and musicality and lent itself well to simply turning on "repeat" and listening for extended durations. While not quite as catchy, this Mega Man 5 ReMix - OCR's first - has much of the same appeal that made that ReMix enjoyable, and is a little cleaner and from more immediately accessible (read:popular) source material as well. It's good to see MM5 finally covered - I admit I've scoped it for a potential mix a couple times but was never particularly stricken by any one piece, but texx has picked a winner and handled it with lovin' and care. This is a soft, lullabyish instrumental with piano and acoustic guitar as well as solo & ensemble strings (the former stronger than the latter), an emotive flute, and dark, atmospheric, muted timpani that add just the right amount of percussive oomph while not constituting a rhythm track per se. For the first half-minute I thought "cool - a good solo piano mix". Then strings entered, and while I was initially a little iffy on the ensemble string patch used, a beautiful acoustic guitar soon entered and made all things right. Expressive playing on the acoustic and just the right amount of processing so as to avoid sounding too distant and maintain an aura of intimacy - this is some good stuff. I urge you to check out texx's previous mix if you haven't, but be sure to grab this MM5 classical instrumental - great music, well-arranged, evocative and soundly mixed. Recommended.
A short, sweet, and perfectly imperfect lullaby. Check it out.

The strings and guitar put in with the piano really create some nice momentum and variation. Compositionally this is one of my favorite songs on the site. It says so much by using so little.

Been a while since I've played it, but isn't that music more dark and mysterious? This remix is soft like a pillow, and also has piano and acoustic guitars. It may sound like Myst, but if I would decide, this sounds more like that would come from Final Fantasy 10 or higher.
Beautiful stuff texx, main complaint is about the length of this remix, but lullabies are supposed to be short, right? I liked the sound you got from that piano, it had a very bright tone, and together with the guitar, this piece got a very sad feel to it. Makes me picture a spanish wanderer that just got himself a flashback. And then falls asleep. Great stuff.

I agree, it has been three years since this one. Can someone make a MM5 project? Please? Pretty please?

<edit> I'd just like to add that it's from the title screen itself and not when the prelude (Protoman blowing stuffs) for clarification. I should know since I'm doing a romhack of it and have to put up with the MM5 music hours long each day. This is the opening theme music
