Ready for something different? Come on, you know you are. You might not have ever played, or for that matter heard of, an old sleeper Genesis 2D action scroller called "Alisia Dragoon", but believe me, both the game and this ReMix are worth your attention & investigation, big time. Newcomer LastUnicron takes on this cult classic's tunage and really gives it an extreme makeover, overhaul, upgrade, what have you - all I knows is, it's different, it's better, and I dig it. This is a mixture of techno textures with deeper, reverbed ambient and ethnic/orchestral flavors, and it's very groovy. It's also rather difficult to describe - it's cavernous, dramatic, has sweeping choral peaks and mellower, solo sections, uses what minimal percussion it features very selectively and well, has deceptively excellent panning and mixing, with bits and pieces of the arrangement "hiding" in the verb fog and coming back and forth at beckon call. Like the game, by uber-talented Game Arts, this is a rare gem - hopefully you saw the link, clicked it, are reading this, and despite total lack of familiarity with the game are heeding my advice. In the first twenty seconds, with distorted percussive blips, deep bass drum, a modulated FM-ish synthline that ebbs and flows, and subtle but absolutely necessary & perfect pads, it's compelling. I think compelling is the right word - great first mix, great game, great overall - recommended.
This is probably
the track that pulled me into OCReMix.
The previous two comments are spot on.

Like WesternZypher, I find this very uplifting. :) Last Unicron has
given this track a noble sound like as for travelling near the end
of a quest. I think this would fit well in a later stage of a
Wizardry game. ^_^ Halls of Wonder, even. :D Wonderful mix! :3

When the world has me down, I listen to this. Doesn't make me
happier exactly, but makes me feel like I can deal with
it. A great mix.

Just discovered this track. Great atmospheric piece, really dark
and mellow - I can't stop listening to it. Spot on.

Def a cool little unkown track from the middle part of the decade.
A chill track great for studying and relaxin with.

Great opening mood on this mix, and though it's more of a rhythm +
chord progression track, it has enough layers to keep it pretty
interesting. Some of the leads seemed a little piercing, but
overall i was cool with this one. :-)

One of my favourites. I think this mix was the one that made me
check out what this OCR thing really was.

Wonderful, wonderful remix. This is one of those remixes I just
keep coming back to because I listen to it and I can just let my
mind try to recreate the scenario for this music...Halls of
Abandonment? A women running through long manor halls that are lit
but empty...
At least, thats what comes to my mind. I always like to let my mind
wander with these excellent remixes.

Could have sworn I commented on this way back in the day, but I
guess not. Definitely a great interpretation here of a very boring,
plodding original. I loved the sounds and textures here, and this
one has always been an old favorite. Wish Andy was still more
involved in the community. Don't overlook this one.

This mix is transporting. Not many songs on OCR can be described as
such. What it does with the materials it has is quite simply
awesome. The instrument quality used isn't the best, but the way
they are put together is masterful. I haven't heard anything quite
like this, which makes it a memorable piece. Even if you've never
heard of the game (I haven't), this one is most definitely worth a
listen, and if a "Best of OCR" compilation was ever made, this
would deserve a spot for being unique and different, and doing it
well.
(Sorry to bring in the concept of rankings- I would disapprove of
such a compilation. The fact still remains that this is the best of
its kind on OCR)
