Right then, on our way... response to Maverick Rising has been fantastic so far - it's a LOT of music to take in, so like our Wild Arms album, it's probably going to take weeks to fully get your head around. We're making it a little easier for those of you who haven't checked it out in full yet & don't know where to start with some more flood mixes; next up is the incomparable Sixto Sounds with our FIRST ever ReMix from Mega Man X8:
"Lots of metalmetalmetalmetalmetalmetalmetal and some strings with a touch of pipe organ. Rock out if you dig it!"
Yessir. Awesome high voltage rock/metal work from Juan; while I think MMX alone could have sustained/deserved an album, I'm glad Maverick Rising went beyond the first game and gave more-needed exposure to the great music of the entire X series. Director Wes Cho writes:
"Could we really expect any less for the final boss track of the album? Juan blows this track out of the water, really bringing out vs Lumine ~ The Second Form from Mega Man X8 with his march of the guitars. There’s not much else to say if you’re familiar with his work, he always works at a high level and this song is no exception."
Indeed, much like bLiNd, it's easy to take for granted just how CONSISTENTLY badass SS' jams are, and most of the accolades from one are completely transferable & applicable to the next. This arrangement in particular features some sweet drums on the intro & outro rolls & fills, workin' dat snare and doz toms quite a bit, well-layered strings that fill everything out, and the aforementioned pipe organ that adds a little element of surprise towards the three minute marker. Couldn't ask for much more; fantastic track + glad to see more of the MMX series represented on the site thanks to Maverick Rising & Sixto Sounds!

There is some overcompression present in this version - I personally liked the more crisp versions I heard earlier, but that was Sixto's decision ultimately and I try to respect artist choice. The big guitars and the driving pace does a great job setting the tone for mayhem, and the drawn out notes help cement the otherworldly battle image.
Easily one of Sixto's best in my eyes, and an appropriate way to climax Maverick Rising with.
