GOODNESS, the FUNK. MR might be heavy on the rock/metal, which makes sense given the driving nature of most of the source tunes, but there's plenty of variety, and you can count on Diggi Dis to bring it when it comes to blending rock with jazz, funk, and soul; just the bassline ALONE here, an obese-yet-nimble fretless... so awesome. Intro EP is smoov, funk rhythm guitar is sexy as hell, and - what's that at 1'23"?? Could it be a mind-blowing wah clavinet solo? Yes, and you've been served. Frank writes:

"Another attempt at some funky ass arranging. Had a lot of fun remixing this song, also because of somewhat strange section switches. This will probably also be my last arrangement for a while. Hope you guys will enjoy it!"

Also, HEY AQUALUNG!!, Ron Burgundy shows up circa 2'44" for some JAZZ FLUTE, and for several moments we are ALL collectively Christina Applegate. If this is truly DD's last mix for awhile, then that makes me cry funky tears of groove, but he's definitely going out with some serious style. Wes C. writes:

"Frank has been putting out some crazy stuff lately, which you’ve seen with the likes of his Heroes vs. Villains track, his Wild ARMS track, and here with his jazzy take on Zero Stage 2 from Mega Man X5 - he has even more sexiness coming up as well! For those unfamiliar with the original track, go listen to it - it is a standard electronic dance-like track, but Frank has morphed it here to make it a lot more chill and fitting for a different type of dancing. Knowing the original really helps give you an appreciation for his work and this track is a shining example."

This mix is ridiculously good and even if it were released all by its lonesome, it would STILL be an epic day for the MMX series, but as part of the larger album, well... it drips with jam, is covered in butter, and makes the breadth & depth of Maverick Rising almost insultingly awesome. Truly diseased, infectious work from Frank, who is truly amazing.

Let the chair dancing commence. This is probably the first time a good number of years that I have actually been sad because of the fact that a song is ending. this is also one of the songs I can listen to repeatedly when my player gets stuck on replete 1 and not go "why am i still listening to this"

Awesome mix, love the funk.

This mix finally made me register for the forums just to post about how awesome it is. This X5 track has been one of my favorites since the first time I played it, and this funk twist on an otherwise very techno-style track made my jaw hit the floor. Simply amazing!

Nice, sexy funky little track right here. Love the little voice sample right before the clavinet, and man, the ReMix just grooves right with me. Sweet work with the Jazz flute. So much love for this piece. Oh yeah, I'm ready. Put ya guns on!

Excellent! I didn't need to know the original to appreciate it. This is good music and that's all that matters.
