Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
You want to hear some sleep paralysis stories? Most of the worst sleep experiences I ever had involved me sleeping at my mom's house. My bed would always shake without me having any involvement in moving it, my dreams always took place in the laundry room. One time, I was having an "episode" of extreme bizarrity, I found myself unable to keep silent my thoughts, so I whispered "The Devil Take Thy Soul..!" And believe you me, he almost did. I felt an insane electrocution, like a giant hand literally grabbed at my inner essence and I shook violently and fell to the floor. I think this lasted for like 7 minutes. Somehow I kept it together and didn't sleep at all that night. Then a year later he tried again. It started with a nightmare, I had a dream I was back upstairs on the computer, only the screen lighting all of existence. There were footsteps approaching. This was usually my mom, but no one ever showed up. The footsteps went behind me and sat at the couch. It turned the TV on. I didn't ever look at who it was. It sounded like a teenage girl. She asked me a random question and I just said "I don't know...." long pause... "Who are you again?" Then the TV snapped off and I knew I was in trouble. I immediately jumped out of bed, fell in the middle of the room and went full-fucking-conniption fit electrocution possession insane. This time is was like 10 minutes, and I fought him off again. I got back into bed and tried to figure out how this happened. It was a rewind-rewatch session which ended up me jumping out of bed, again, falling to the floor, again, and the whole fucking room was spinning with electricity and laughing and horrible, horrible hell. That hasn't happened to me since, but I have a host of other sleeping problems now, so... -
Sounds like a good site, but if I post something original or a remix on there...... then what? Who sees it and who protects the content? Edit: Oh wait, I see some of it... still, I wonder though. Additionally, why is there a Google Map that shows me where you live?

Who wants drum samples? (aka my senior project)
Meteo Xavier replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Topic title makes it sound like you're giving'em away... Where do you find time to DO all your stuff anyway? I almost want to kill myself just thinking about how much time and energy I'd have to invest to pull off what you do regularly. Drum samples are kickin' too, as was expected. -

Ok, my next question: Does anyone else experience a spasm in their arms like 25 minutes before they actually sleep? Like, all of a sudden, you shoot your arm out and flail back without being asleep but without controlling it too? I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal or not. -

Do you ever dream without being asleep? -
If you were profitting off Pokemon, wouldn't you be too?

But I don't remember doing that part at all. It goes back to my paranoid question: If you're not in control, who is? -

Man, if I wasn't busy up my ass, I could fill this whole topic with stories. Here's a good one, just before I got out of high school I weird, twisting episode as I was trying to sleep. Its hard to describe, mostly like an hour of melting, flashing lights, shadows moving around, trying to fit inside my skin, reshaping muscles, doors closing and chairs appearing. All kinda just stirring together into a godless swirl of nonsense. When I woke up the next morning at 6:00 AM, my dad was just finishing telling my brothers that "Y'know what [Meteo] did last night? He came into my room at like 3:00 in the morning to tell me little Squaresoft employees put a bomb in his room." Totally true story. -
Best rock-oriented game soundtrack...

X2 had that really cool Prog-rock Sigma Stage 1. Otherwise it sounded too much like Ducktales or any other Capcom NES game to really do it for me. -
Zombie Bazooka Patrol. Thats my brothers' band. They're actually a lot of fun doing major-scale buegrass/hard/electronic rock and dressing up like Zombies.

Mystery Quest for the NES. It is a very structurally weird game, but I have a spiritual affinity for it for some reason. Its like the poster child for stereotypical half-professional, half-otherwise 8-bit platforming. Its also worth noting that I played it ONCE when I was like 7, but for 16 years I could only remember like a screenshot and possibly the box art and it drove me nuts trying to figure out what that game was. Finally found it somehow like 2 years ago.

I just found out I'm a fairly high ranking character in something called FLYFF. Is this something I should be concerned about? (totally Homer Simpson'd)

Could be an advanced bait and switch for ACID's company too.

If I'm the first person to mention Mega Man X, I'm going to be pissed. -

Do you ever do that thing where your mind is straddling the line between being asleep and being awake.. like, you're awake and moving and somewhat controlling, but you're delusional and there's an idea aching in your head, like what I did last month when it bothered me all night that there are women in this world with hairy anuses? -
I think I tried this once before but didn't get anywhere. I didn't sleep last night because I was more interested finding out my Facebook account is still alive and using it to burn bridges with flames so high they scorched hell and licked heaven. I find it impossible to sleep really easily, so it was easier to just stay up. But by 3:00 PM, after work, I couldn't take it, so I did what I hate doing and went upstairs for a nap. Three hours later, I woke up thinking it was April 14th. Literally. My brain had completely forgotten the last 3 weeks and I scrambled to get my business project homework out the door. Think 50 First Dates. So, and this is an interest project for me, I wonder if anyone else has fits of bizarre activity related to sleep. I'll start off by sharing one more. I have lived in this apartment for 3 years now. I set up my bedroom from day one and haven't changed it since. Yet, 3-4 times a week, I wake up in the middle of the night and fully believe the posters change at night. Completely different set each time. I can't figure out why I keep doing this. Anyone else want to share?

This is something I started yesterday and fixed up today. I think it shows real promise. It has a real power and drama and energy I haven't been able to create in a while. I'd say its mostly done barring one synth section before the guitar comes in, but I still welcome comments and complaints. http://www.zshare.net/audio/596841628362652c/

Best rock-oriented game soundtrack...
Meteo Xavier replied to SwordBreaker's topic in General Discussion
My Motoi devotion runs pretty deep (as evidenced by Yggdrasil Speaks To Me) and I pretty much learned everything I know about songwriting from studying him. Having said that, I believe Motoi has a bizarre OCD need to crank out 30 hours of game music a year, much of which is increasingly derivative. He's talented to a point where it literally makes you sick to wonder how he actually pulls it off and what it does to his health, but he had to claw up there. Frankly, when you listen to all his stuff before Valkyrie Profile, compared to everything after... well its a wonder he got as far as he did. Still: Baten Kaitos Origins and SSBB. Life is good. -

Pretty much any JRPG soundtrack. -
Yeah, and if Zircon or Jimmy get a hold of this, contest is pretty much over.

I evidently and accidently named myself after a French weather system.

Cool. I'll look through my old files and see what I can come up with. -
I never got to beat Emerald Weapon. But not for lack of trying.

Well, you're not going to get anywhere in life on a forum, thats for sure. Curt though that was, thats exactly the kind of mindset you need to get life "started", whatever that means. The push out is like a band-aid. There's all kinds of building up to it, but it only lasts a fraction of time. Hell, at least you get to choose when you want to do it. I had to move out as a 21-year-old autistic college student, barely able to function as an adult, because my dad's crazy-ass 22-year-old Buddhist Fatal Attractionist girlfriend HUMILIATED me in front of my dad and threw my shit out on the street and told me to "fucking LEAVE" because I did not approve of their bed union. Hours later, she had the nerve to pretend everything was ok between us. Thats when I left. Strangely enough, 3 years later pretty much on the DOT, I continue to survive and even thrive, to a point. This is with a series of behavioral and mental disabilities that I function in an apartment, own my own car, drive it, operate as a Church Council Secretary, job, school. I've grown exponentially just by that push. Fuck, man, I even got to save a battered woman, covered in spaghetti, from an abusive boyfriend who microwaves cats because I live in this apartment. How many other people in history get to say that? Speaking simply as a layperson, I think you're overthinking it. You have a late start, but so what? You tell people you moved out when you were 28-29. What are they going to do? Beat you up? They'll probably just say, "yeah, I gotta do that soon, too." Adulthood is based on action, so act. Get your shit together, box it up, run some numbers, take a deep breath and JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPP. Within 7 months you'll be amazed how well you're doing. I swear it on the one Ocremix I have or will ever have.
