  1. I was in love with this mix when I heard it (and commented on it ) in the Workshop forums and has been in my soundcloud playlist for quite some time - I even played your arrangement quite a few times on the piano myself. The different time signature works very well and the build-up throughout the mix is really good! One of my favorite mixes of the past few years - keep on pumping out the good stuff
  2. I'm not familiar with the theme (yeah yeah sue me), but I love nostalvania's mixes. This mix keeps the energy throughout, has very interesting dynamics and makes great use of the rhodes-type instrument supporting the main piano. Great stuff!
  3. Holy shit, this is great stuff! A lot of stuff happening here, lots of changes, basicly going from creepy to raw/epic/rock to chiptune/dance with lots of wobbly and glitches to dubsteppy to ... I don't know what's going on here (with random key changes and stuff)! But it still feels very coherent and remains full of energy and very interesting, like a high-energy kinda weird and creepy halloween rollercoaster. And I'm in love with the final part; kudos!
  4. Interesting... hypothetically For another teaser: the version of Dancing Mad you're going to hear isn't just any version, it's the Super-Omega Ultimate Destroyerking Chaos-Explosion Deathbringer Stormgod Hellsmash Superiority Mix of Final Versionific Dragondoomed version (yes, that's the actual name of the file Lashmush sent me)
  5. Nobody said there couldn't be another trilogy but I'm going to focus on GoodAss/NiceAss/the hero themes album after the release of BA3
  6. Yeah, awesome stuff with the trailer Alex! Evil is almost upon us!
  7. OMG OMG OMG!!! Oh wait, I already knew that
  8. Staff:Pieter van Os (pu_freak) - DirectorAlexandre Mourey (Chernabogue) - Assistant Directortimaeus222 - Mastering and production feedback assistant With the release of the BadAss 3 album imminent, it's time for me to be moving on to something else. It has been suggested a few times during BA3 that an album of hero themes instead of boss themes would be an awesome idea for an album as well. It sounds like fun to direct such an album after BA3 is released, since it's something completely different in terms of artists and cohesive sound but still being able to maintain the course and process I set for BadAss 3. As such, this is (for now) a topic to gauge interest from the community. The general idea is as follows: - The album wil feature only hero themes - The album has two distinctive genres/moods: courageous (think Crono's theme) and fun (more alike Mario or the general feeling of the Missingno album). People should feel happy, refilled with energy and ready to take on the world after listening to this album. Be wary: that doesn't mean too soothing or calming songs - there has to be energy in the album - The album will most likely start in April or May 2016 and the final cut-off will be Q4 2017 (could be October, could be December). As with BA3: this is a definitive cut-off date since we do not specifically need any track mixed. The deadline for only accepting substantial (90% compllete arrangement) WIPs will be around April 2017. - I will work with personal deadlines like I did with BA3: everybody needs to send in an update once every two months. If you fail, you're out (yes, you can get back in if you send in soemthing good enough, but you won't appear on the tracklist untill then) That's about it for now. Thoughts, ideas, interest?
  9. D-D-D-D-DOUBLE POST! I just finished watching the trailer and listening to the entire album again... Man oh man, what an album it's become! And it's so close to release I can almost taste it... #morehype
  10. Awesome to hear! I can't wait to see the reactions once it hits the home page
  11. Without wanting to add to the drama: it's not your call brandon, and what you've said is way beyond just voicing your opinion. djp had made his offer and it's up to the project management to do what they think is best; it is their album in the end, after all. Let's not create drama so late in the game and please remain respectful to each other
  12. I'm beginning to feel more and more evil every day... I wonder why
  13. I got it, I'll take a look at it this afternoon
  14. Besides, being fashionably late is BadAss right?
  15. We certainly can! Roughly one month to go!
  16. So, this is where the fun is happening?
  17. Hey Tim, did that proposed tracklist mean that you're taking charge of this compilation album project?
  18. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why hasn't this already been sent to eval? As far as I know, they don't need the finished site to begin evaluating the music
  19. Yeah, we'll probably be releasing end of January/February
  20. I also really enjoyed this compo! I mainly used it to test styles I'm just exploring and to improve my production skills (I'm sorry I didn't use you more tim, but I really wanted/needed to grow in production skills). I realize I didn't score much points, but I learned a lot and the competition was fierce. I also want to thank everyone for the feedback and positive mindset. Since submissions and albums take a long time to be released, this was a very welcome method of getting feedback on a very short time. So thanks everyone for some stressful but great weeks! EDIT: When BadAss 3 is released, I'll be available to turn this into an album. If nobody else has time to do so, I'll contact the mixers of the popular mixes around December
  21. I think it's a couple of things for me. For starters, like most of us here already said, I have much less time than a few years ago. When I look at the active people at the forums (not calling myself that, because I hardly contribute at the forums), I have a feeling that the average age is higher than when I first joined these forums. Something which could easily be caused by a decline in new members and thus the old members growing up, but in these age categories, people have jobs and families. I can't miss five hours a day to check all of the new mixes and give reviews. I used to do that - I at least used to listen to all of the mixes on the front page, but I don't even do that anymore. Another thing is YouTube and Facebook. Because new mixes are popping up in my Facebook/YouTube feeds, I listen to the ones from there. That means I never visit the OCR homepage anymore and I don't see djp's write-up or come in contact with the review thread. And the drive to write a review gets higher when you see other reviews - this is nto the case now. If I like something, I just hit the 'like' button on YouTube/Facebook and write a short sentence - even though I know how great it is to get a full review by other OCR'ers. I'm not really sure how to fix that though... perhaps copy the write-up to YouTube as the first comment? It could be that people are more likely to write a more extensive comment
