  1. I like how the distinct melodies recur at different times and in different forms, alternating and mixing like they're old friends. To break it down somewhat, they're played by:

    - the introing crystal-light synth (0:04)

    - the chewy overhanger at 1:20 that marks every beat niche, then gains a soundalike ally playing fewer notes at 1:57 (and still another at 2:19 and 2:56)

    - the bass that makes a subtle appearance at 1:49 but hands the reins to the guitar (most prominent at 3:28+)

Gotta love the heavy sounds employed, but my personal favorite in-your-face show-offs are the phat bass+percussive slap combos around 0:57 - 1:04 and the percussive hits at 1:55 and 1:56 (seriously, these players mean more business than usual). I also like how the whirly ghost sounds kinda reverberate to the beat (lovely little touch).

    Definitely delish.

You appraised this remix so thoroughly I award you a doctorate in ghoulology. Nice work!

  2. Hello all!

I have collaborated with nervous_testpilot, aka Paul Taylor of Frozen Synapse fame, to produce a chiptune album!

    http://ensnare8bit.blogspot.com/2011/12/binary-opposition-ensnare-and-mpegasus.html

It's a battle of bleeps. 4 tracks by Paul, 4 tracks by me and one honest to goodness, sitting at the same computer collaboration track. Here's a snippet preview clip :

Hope you all enjoy it! Merry Christmas!

  3. Yay, this is all looking ace and will be the best of all things I've ever seen and heard! Yay!

One minor thing though, and this is only if it's not an easy thing to do, but on the tracklist artwork my artist name is binster with a lower case b. I'd prefer Binster with a capitol B.

If it's too late to change it then it's absolutely fine :D

  4. Sorry people, but I took the download offline. A couple of reasons for this -

    1) I shall be sending it to labels and that, and having a downloadable version of it online may cause issues.

    2) Track 11 (Survival Instinct) is commercially available right now, and the downloadable version that was up previously had a shortened edit of the track. The streaming version - http://www.abandonedsheep.com/album - has the full length track on there. It's the album, the way it was meant to be :D

I'll keep this thread updated with news about the album.

    Cheers

  5. Heh, cheers Hy Bound :) Glad it's still ticking the box!

    Binster news!

I've updated abandonedsheep.com and soundcloud.com/binster with all the various mixsets I've completed so far, to compliment all the music I've completed so far :)

    Also!

There are two new remixes coming out from me, one will be on Re:Connect Recordings and is of a classic track from their catalogue, and the other will be on a new label, of a new track from a new artist. More info as and when.

Work continues on album number 2 :D

  6. Streaming as in "don't have to download right now to listen"? Cool. I'll let you know what I think.

Besides, if there's a nod to Tears For Fears, there's no way this album can't be good.

Yep! That was what I was thinking - make it nice and easily accessible, get people listening. Plus this way, I can stick the full version of Survival Instinct in there - which you can buy at the following link if you were so inclined :

    http://www.djdownload.com/artist/Dr+Awkward/252008 - Survival Instinct

If you're even more inclined, you can also buy this newer track which will eventually end up on album 2 :)
