    I had a lot of fun this competition as well. Personally, I struggle with arrangement and flow vs creativity. Either I have one or the other but never both in one song. Time constraints hurt too. I'll continue trying to improve and wanted to thank everyone who has offered help and feedback.

    We need a Zelda compo next with power, courage, and wisdom brackets :).... Once everyone recovers from this.

    I would like the following things to appear on my official record:

     

    1. This has been the most stressful week of the year at work.
    2. This has been the most stressful past few months at work.
    3. I've moved apartments in the last month.
    4. I hate the gauntlet theme this week.
    5. I hate my maverick theme.
    6. I have had a few drinks tonight.

     

    Needless to say, I will be working nonstop on my song til the early morning tonight, and most of my waking hours tomorrow. Dammit I will not let these things come between me and my compo entry!

    I think all of us have love / hate relationships with music.

    On another note my entry is submitted. Completely changed the way I went about writing this time. Let me know if it is any better.

    So what are you in the mood to remix then? We can offer better suggestions if you have an idea. I'll suggest two from games that people haven't ever remixed on this site. Heck I'm even trying to choose rare or obscure games.

    Musical theorist types! Would I be right in thinking this track is F major?

    Usually its easiest to focus on the bass. When I hum the beginning into a tuner I get a D. It could change after the intro though. Only way to really know is figure out all the notes though and look at the scales to see if all the transcribed notes fit for the section you are looking at.

    Do the notes fit on any of these scales (Since you think it is F)?

    PS: To all the veteran musicians. Is this good advice / terrible advice? Do I know what I'm doing? I don't want to steer people wrong but if my system is wrong or can be improved I'd love to be enlightened.

    I used quite some Spark Mandrill actually. Here's a breakdown:

     

    0:57 - 1:17: Tubular bells play the first part of the Spark Mandrill theme

    1:17 - 1:34: The next part of the Spark Mandrill theme, only altered to fit the chords (and I left a small part out)

    2:14 - 2:33: The piano and choirs play the background synths/strings of the first part of the Spark Mandrill theme

    2:33 - 3:12: Choirs continue doing what they did, but the piano plays the first part of the Spark Mandrill theme

     

    So, about one-and-a-half minute of Spark Mandrill :)

     

     

    EDIT: Didn't have the time to listen to all of the songs yet... Hopefully Shariq won't get mad if I vote tomorrow ;)

    Your song probably is my favorite moody piece from this set. Definitely one for my dark souls playlist since it fits the game so well (Majula music is awful).

    New Compo Idea/Interest: Game Shift Remix

    This idea should work but it might have less turn out compared to other competitions. I've been trying to figure out a new competition idea as well. Something like a cut throat musician with sabotages (like the cooking show cut throat kitchen). I'm at a loss as to figure out how to implement the handicaps properly though.
