  1. Drack slams his hands down on the desk and points at you!

    Objection!

    *Presents evidence*

Now taking signups. Specific rules will be posted soon.

    1) To join, post in this thread. You have until midnight EST on Tuesday, January 16th, 2007. If you decide to drop out before then, you may, just PM me and I can remove your name from the list.

If the deadline has past, are you still taking signups or not?!

  2. Perhaps a rumble attachment will be released that uses the clips on the back of the Classic Controller. Don't know how it would connect to the wiimote though.

Rumble isn't vital anyway. I still think that the CC is the best controller ever.

  3. There's not much you can do, if you cannot take it apart and examine the power circuits for faults. It seems like there's a very weak connection between the power supply (after the AC and battery circuits join) and the rest of the machine. Even if you could spot it, you would probably wouldn't want to try to fix it.

Your best bet is to send it to the manufacturer for repair.

  4. I believe the switch from IRC to Skype is partially responsible for the lack of recent activities - People are lazy and don't want to download and register for a new chat service for just our chat.

Regardless, I'd love to bust out the DS for some multiplayer action. Which Game? Well, I'm willing to play anything in my sig (friend code link) - I'll probably acquire DKR this weekend too, just re-beat the N64 version so you better be ready!

  5. I hear Super Princess Peach is even easier than New Super Mario Bros. I haven't tried it yet for this reason.

Also, half the fun in NSMB is the multiplayer, and I'm talking mostly about the star battles, not the minigames

If I had to pick between Mario Kart DS and Tetris DS, I'd pick MKDS - Both the single player and the multiplayer kept me entertained longer. As with metroid, though, (This actually applies to all the online games) local and friend matches will keep you entertained much more than random internet matches.

  6. Concerning metroid, the multiplayer is where it's at - and it really only hits the sweet spot when you have a group of friends (ClanOCR in my case) to play it with. If you want a great single player metroid, MP:H is not what you're looking for. But friend matches online rock. We need to do them more often.

And Bahamut: I challenge you to produce a better list than mine!

  7. phoenix wright has made me the woman of character I am today.

At work, I ALWAYS slam the table and yell "HOLD IT!" I also scream "TAKE THAT!" when I am about to present sound proof against someone's half baked arguments.

Just a couple days back, I was talking about Rare's licensing with a friend. The point came up that Banjo was removed from Diddy Kong Racing DSand yet Rare after the Microsoft buyout could still release Banjo Pilot for GBA.

When this occurred to me I slammed the table, stood up, pointed my finger, and shouted "OBJECTION!"

Too bad my friend didn't get the reference.

  8. Finally got my hands on two DS lites (I'm giving one to my girlfriend). They are impossible to find for retail here and I lucked out by checking some store out in the sticks. My R4 card with a 1 gig micro SD should be here soon, so now the world of the DS is my oyster. What are some lesser known gems that you guys have liked lately?

These aren't "Lesser known" but I recommend all of the following:

    Club House Games

    Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

    Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

    Electroplankton

    Final Fantasy III DS

    Kirby Canvas Curse

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

    Mario Hoops 3 on 3

    Mario Kart DS

    MegaMan Battle Network 5

    Mega Man ZX

    Meteos

    Metroid Prime Hunters

    New Super Mario Bros.

    Nintendogs

    Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

    Tetris DS

    WarioWare: Touched!

I guess now that I'm keeping track of all the games I've played and whether I liked em, I can pull out lists like this. Nifty.

  9. Thanks guys for the suggestions - I may look into getting a dreamcast or ps2 to pick up some of the games I missed out on. Aside from that, you've provided lots of titles I can't wait to try.

</thread>. Seriously this time. I've sigged the list; PM me if you have any more suggestions.

  10. Wait I casually skimmed through the list and went straight to point out Metroid: Zero Mission, yet I just realized you haven't yet played SUPER METROID!? Get outta town!
D'oh! Was building the list from memory, knew I forgot to add a few. Of course I've played SM. Fixed now.
  11. Yesterday I compiled a list of every console game I've played (that I remember) for any decent amount of time.

The list can be found here. Yeah, I've played a lot of games ;)

What I'm asking, is that if you see any glaring omissions from my list, great games I've missed out on, do tell! I'm open to all genres. Systems other than those I already own are a bit more tricky, but all suggestions are welcome.

I don't want this to turn into a favorites thread, so don't bash anyone's opinions or suggestions, or act like yours are better than everyone else's.

  12. Got Bluetooth? I've been playing around with the Wiimote+Computer drivers, and I've actually gotten it to be quite an effective controller for N64 emulation (With the nunchuk, obviously). Beaten Starfox 64's hard path and a quarter of diddy kong racing in less than 2 hours today.

This is gonna be a lot sweeter when I buy a classic controller.

  13. Just a side note, the Wii modchips already out enable gamecube homebrew, of which there's a DVD player (through GC-linux)

Of course, the cube can't read full DVDs - even with a case mod the laser only moves to the 1.4 GB mark. When this program is run on a Wii, it plays the entire DVD just fine.

I don't plan on getting a Wii modchip until they enable execution of arbitrary code -- Wii homebrew. Enabling piracy and last generation's homebrew is only one side of the coin.

  14. I thoroughly enjoyed Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3, S&K.

I haven't had the same great experience I had from S3&K from ANY more recent Sonic game.

Spinball and 3D Blast were gimmicky spinoffs.

I disliked Sonic Adventure, SA2, Shadow, Heroes (These ALL had a terrible 3-D system).

Some liked Rush; I didn't. Total lack of creativity in level and boss design. TERRIBLE departure for the music; only 2 or 3 of the tracks didn't annoy the hell out of me.

Sonic Advance? Not bad, but not great. It clearly shows the GBA is not capable of BLAST PROCESSING.

I'm not expecting much from the upcoming Wii Sonic. We shall see how it turns out.

  15. Smoke: Going from experience playing other SNES->GBA ports (Like Super Mario World, Link to the Past) or even just listening to the sound test from, say, Sonic Advance and listening to the classic tunes (SNES was more advanced than Genesis in general), you can draw a pretty accurate comparison between the sound capabilities. Also, just comparing general sound quality between games in the same series that span both platforms gives you a clear idea.

Also, play some of the .gsf and .spc files from cross platform games one after another, and you'll definitely hear the difference.

My conclusions? GBA is superior for sound effects, SNES is far better for music.

I don't foresee myself playing FF6 on GBA, ESPECIALLY if the script was altered.

  16. Also, You can use widescreen even with the composite cables the wii comes with. Just set the setting on the wii and set your TV to stretch the 4:3 signal to cover the 16:9 screen, and the wii will output the graphics in the proper proportions (assuming that the screen WILL be stretched to 16:9)
