  1. Yay, so now I'm going to consider an arrangement and seek out a live instrumentalist. I'm thinking acoustic guitar, maybe piano. Violin would be nice, but I have no idea how to arrange them.

Also need to figure out how to get more people on the boat for this project.. it's an iconic game, an iconic album to me, a very pleasant and unique OST to anyone. I'll be looking for supporters and referring them here.

EDIT: And I'm considering "Battle 2" as a track. Not positive yet, but I really love that track.

Don't forget that we are also building an instrument panel of people who play live instruments and are part of the project that remixers can ask.

Considering I can play several live instrument, I think I'll put some down. I'm not exactly what you would call a pro at any of them, but I could pull something together in a pinch.

  2. So the focus of these mixes has to be mainly on a live instrument? I can't play anything, unfortunately, so I might be out on luck unless there's a really dedicated collaborator somewhere.

Well, don't look at it as "I can't play an instrument, so I can't join". That's not it at all. The instrumentalists will come. Think of it more as "Now's an opportunity to hear what a real instrument sounds like in my remixes". Or even "Yay! I get to remix a Skies of Arcadia song!"

  3. Also, in case any updating will ever be done to the website, "Kira of Trance" should redirect to electric concerto's profile here on the OCR forums. I noticed he was one of the artists that didn't have any sort of link attached to his name, but should have.
Yeah... about that... I forgot to do that consent thing you're suppose to do for projects. I already did it for the Mario 64 one though.

Kira of Trance was a waste of time, money, everything. I shouldn't have ever used that... It's Electric Concerto, and I do genre fusions.

I will say, I love how the album came out. Awesome work!

  4. I'll start by saying that it's an awesome start, but you need some change ups. It's a tad on the repetitive side. Try changing up the progression or, better yet, add more juice to the song progression. You know, get my heart pumping a little or something.

On the production side, I think the high end frequencies are a tad too high, you might want to EQ those down some. Or use a multiband compressor. Mess around with it some and see what you get!

  5. Skies of Arcadia was an awesome RPG! I loved it!

And i'm definitely interested in this project, though i don't know if you need a rapper on it?

I would need to collab with someone though as i can't compose music nor can i edit and master vocals, i just record and let someone with more experience tidy it all up ...so if that isn't a problem i would like to express interest in contributing something to this album.

Though, if rap would be too much a stretch for a project like this then i totally understand and will be supporting this one from the sidelines. Either way, good luck with this :)

Hey, vocals are vocals. Go ahead and send an e-mail with your stuff.

  6. Skies of Arcadia - A Sailor's Serenade

Recruiting has begun... again. Please read guidelines for auditioning before PMing me please.

Welcome to the thread for the OC Remix collaborative site album Skies of Arcadia - A Sailor's Serenade. The video game Skies of Arcadia has an excellent soundtrack, and I believe it's time to help it shine!

    Project Details

    Project Theme

A Sailor's Serenade is an approach at appreciation with live instruments. So the project theme involves the use of at least one (1) acoustic or electronic live instrument in each remix.

    - Electric guitars, basses, drums, keyboards, and electric strings like electric violins are acceptable.

    - Sequenced virtual violins or other instruments that sound real are not.

    - If you are a sequencer and/or can't/don't know how to play a live instrument, collaborating with an artist who can is acceptable.

    - Vocals are also an acceptable live instrument.

    Audition Guidelines

Please e-mail auditions to djeconcerto at gmail dot com (fixed e-mail for spam prevention) or PM me through these forum's PM system.

Auditions are the best way for the project coordinators to get an idea of quality.

    - Auditioning materials need to be relevant to the part of the project you want to be part of. I.E. Remixers need to send music, instrument players need to send samples of their instrument playing, artist need to send artwork, etc.

    - Please send at least two samples as your auditioning material.

    - Artists who are invited to the project by the project coordinators are exempt from auditions. (We obviously know about their artist quality in that we felt compelled to invite them.)

    - Auditions are preferred to be e-mailed as opposed to PMed because the e-mail is checked several times a day.

    - Auditions DO NOT require a live instrument, however, if you are a musician that uses one, please audition with its involvement.

    - If you e-mail your audition, you can send the auditioning material as an attachment.

    Project Goals

I would like to see a remix album of at least 14 tracks, but more would be better. If remixers would like to partake in more than one track, their second selection must wait for first selections to be complete. (Wait for everyone to have firsts before getting seconds.)

New remixers can grow, as this project could help them learn many audio production techniques. New remixers should not be afraid to ask for help, and knowledgeable remixers should be able to help them.

Many of you might be concerned about the previous attempt of this project, where I failed to communicate and the project ended up collecting dust. School and work have a way of doing that. But I am determined to see this to the end, and as I do not see the last attempt as a failure, but rather as an eye opener of what I was doing wrong.

    Timeline

I'd be lying if I said the album could get done in a year. But that is the current goal. So let me propose the timeline:

7/1/14 - Recruitment begins. Recruitment will end when
the goal of 10 - 14 remixers is reached.

9/1/12 - First Works in Progress (WIP) is due. WIPs
include any remix and artwork. Nothing special is
expected, but something should be submitted. Submission
is e-mailing the WIP to a project coordinator.

11/1/12 - Second WIP is due. This is a more important
update. Remixes should have the bones of the song
complete. Artwork decisions should be complete and
    first drafts submitted.

2/1/12 - Third WIP is due. Remixes should be in the
final stages of design, as well as the artwork.
That way, mastering/digitizing of the project
    can begin.

6/1/12 - Final remixes and artwork due. That way
we can begin judging and final touches before publishing.

    7/1/13 - Project release.

As I've said, this is a goal for the project, but deadlines get pushed back due to personal life and/or involvement with other projects. These are to be expected. All I ask is that you communicate your needs to the project coordinators so that they can work with you. Dropping off the face of the planet will only get you tossed from the project.

    Track Listing

Skies of Arcadia has a pretty extensive track list, and in no way am I expecting every song to be covered. But the entirety of the track list is available for remixing for the project.

EDIT: Please refrain from reminding me of the past failures of projects, past attempts at this one, or the amount of projects already underway. I already know and understand. Instead, suggest ways to help this one succeed. Thank you.

EDIT 2: Time to dust this off and try again. Got some time. Recruiting process will begin next month, but you can show interest. If you were previously on the remixer and/or instrument list, let me know if you're still interested and I'll put you back on. Sorry about this dropping off like it did. I was finishing school and ended up moving (twice) and spaced the whole thing. So lets give this another shot, shall we?

  7. This is actually really good! On the first full listen, my only problem is the kick. It comes in too soon, and ruins the atmoshpere, plus it's the exact same kick for all the time that I heard it. Try to vary it a bit. Otherwise, this is awesome.

That's the problem with trance kicks... They sound the same...

I've been doing some experimenting with an even newer sound. So I might incorporate that in. It's...... different.

  8. Is it the wisest decision to start recruitment for this in a thread that shows over 3 years of failure? :-P

    Probably not.

And technically it can only be a failure if it never succeeds.

You should have probably made a new thread in the recruitment subforum.

"Should have"? Does this mean it's too late?

    But there's too many projects.

That's the thing with this site, there are ALWAYS too many projects.

  9. One thing I should mention is that this project has a condition for the music. Remixers must use at least one real instrument. Not a real sounding virtual instrument, but actually play something. Keyboards and electric guitars count as real instruments, so if you want to use them, you can.

  10. So are all the tracks up for grabs again, or what?

Yes, all tracks are up for grabs. If you were previously on the project and want to get your track back, you'll have to audition, pass, and select your song before other remixers get the chance to. Sorry, but I think this is fair for everyone.

  11. Awesome advice! I got some new strings for the acoustic guitar and a new mic, so hopefully I can dish out a better tone. The old strings were about 20 yes old! Also, I'll put in some more practice for the electric guitar bits and get a more solid play in. And now that I think about it, I agree with the drum fill idea. I'll have a new version out soon!

  12. UPDATE:

    http://www.electricconcerto.com/music/wip/videogame/lavendertown2.mp3

So I decided to redo the whole things. I made several changed and after several hours of hard work, I believe the remix is done. So any tweeking you think I need to do, let me know. Thanks.

PS In the original post, I kept the first version of the remix so you can compare the two, but the second version is the final one that I plan on going with.

  13. Source:

    Pokemon Blue - Ghost Town

    Remix Version 4: http://electricconcerto.com/music/lavendertown4.mp3

So I'm doing some experimenting with this sound. I don't even know what genre of music to put it in! O_o

So I was looking up on an urban legend about the theme to Lavender Town and felt compelled to make a ReMix of it. I haven't really been in the remixing scene lately (working on an album of original music), but I felt so compelled to to this remix, it was compelling. Know what I mean?

So anyway, here is the final draft of the remix. I'm still new to this type of music, so any and all feedback would be SO helpful! Thank you for your time, and enjoy!

UPDATE: Because of a derp moment, I forgot to switch this back to "Finished" when I meant it to be as such. That's why it's going from "Work in Progress" to "Mod Review". Sorry about the confusion.

  14. Just to correct something:

I have a question for you. Actually, several, but we'll just start with the first and most important one.

I like where your remix is going, and I think it has some potential behind it. I'm also looking for some 4th generation Pokémon game remixes for my project (I love the old games as well, but I want to do an album that covers all the games to date). I think your remix would not only fit in well, but also help fill in that little gap a bit.

You interested in joining the Missingno Tracks project?

Hard to say... I could try, but I'm involved in other projects whom the directors are getting pissed off at me... I'm busy with work and school but I've completed my website so now I can move on to finishing my projects.

I'll try to finish it for your project, but I can't promise anything...

If you can, fine. If not, then it's not a major problem.

I did not beg to join.

Neither am I interested in joining any projects from this point on. Thank you for the opportunity, but I think I'll concentrate my future efforts on my personal remixes.

I will end my post with a sorry I wasn't around. I thought I had finished it, and the only thing that needed fixing was the title. Carry on, and enjoy the album!
