  1. Wow, this is such a nice rearrangement of the ending song from A Link to the Past...I love it!
  2. I must ask one question - why does the picture in the front page show Zelda: Link's Awakening instead of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? The song says Zelda 64 in the file name, and so I just find it odd.
  3. I have had this song since it was first posted on VGMix, and I've been wondering when it would come to OCR...in short, this remix is just beautiful. Not only do I get my wish for a Delicate Affection remix (this song is probably my favorite from Seiken Densetsu 3), I get one that just oozes with affection. I'm pretty sure any comment I make would be excessive, as Helen already has had plenty of comments from VGMix, so I'll just leave off at a great job!
  4. ...why be hatin on the other remixes posted recently? I like them a bunch, although they all have their faults. As for this one, I'm not sure if this is just me, but it seems like there is a complete absence of bass on the ambient sample (I'm not sure what it is). It is still a nice quaint song to listen to, although nothing jumps out to me as "THIS MIXER HAS UBER SKILLZ!!!" I felt it could've used some more interpretation on the remixer's part.
  5. You can't even compare FF7 to FF6 - it's just not on that level. And as for the song, yes, that guitar is my main complaint about this song - otherwise it's pretty good.
  6. Whoa, this sounds nice, but one thing - is that guitar fake?
  7. I would seed, but my college shut down Bit Torrent effectively .
  8. Ah, I think I know what you are talking about (hmm, I should go out and buy Reason and ReBirth sometime so I can actually get off my lazy ass and learn the program, d/l ing it free hasn't helped me one bit), and that was another enjoyable part of the remix. The arrangement seems very well done.
  9. Are you kidding me? This is top notch trance right here, you probably have heard only the cheesy trance stuff (not to say some of the cheesy trance isn't good, it's just...not very great at conveying the ambient feel that true trance songs do). Many commercial trance songs don't sound this good. However, it is interesting that bLiNd decided to cover this song, I don't even remember most of the soundtrack to Extreme G . I downloaded the version from VG Mix before, but I'm downloading this version for my laptop...k, done. SGX hit the nail on the head with his description, this is excellent stuff (although I don't know what 303 synths are, can someone explain?). The reverb is used to excellent effect in creating the illusion of speed in this remix, especially on the synths. The mastering is also very good, although probably not the best that could've been done, as I hear panning used to great effect on some areas of the song, but lacking in some others (oh shit, seeing the judges comments they agree! ). There are also minor issues I have with the song, like one of the synths chose, but nothing bothered me greatly - this is still an excellent track that is enjoyable to leave on loop - I cannot say that about many of the songs I find out there. Great hard trance remix! This makes me a lot more enthusiastic for the PMM Trance Album - I'm sure it will be of extreme quality with tracks that are even more polished than this one! Edit: I think some of my issues actually stems from these cheapass headphones I'm using, it appears as if they suck at producing music in the high frequency range.
  10. Wow, lots of drum work. This seems like a mix I can like sometimes, but hate some others based on the percussion alone. However, this does have an excellent ambient feel, and that makes it worth it to me (the guitar sample needs to be changed though).
  11. Hmm, that dissonance in the beginning is an interesting point in the mix - I can see why people would be split on this. As some of the judges mentioned, the first half is relatively uninteresting though - a straightforward rendition of the Battle Theme. The original section in the second half is much more interesting. As for how people would react to this piece, I think a lot of people would be left wanting more variation.
  12. This thread is still alive? While I'm at it, the Ninja Gaiden final boss is a fucking hellish time to beat (the first one in the series on NES). If you die you get teleported all the fucking way back to Act 6-1!! (6-2 and 6-3 were HELL)
  13. Whoa, I didn't know he created the soundtrack to Knights of the Old Republic!
  14. Well here's some that he composed: Secret of Evermore, Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege, and Morrowind, to name the most notable games. The only one I haven't played that he composed is Morrowind...I should give that a shot sometime. As for the mix, after a few listens, I'm really appreciating this, and not just because of the sample quality. I'm really liking how the instruments are being used here, intertwined in such interesting ways which makes classical music so good.
  15. Maybe you should change the title "Beginners and People Please Read This Before Posting"...I'm sure a lot of people would dismiss the newbie part.
  16. Eh, all you do is turn into a ball and mass bomb her once she eats you and it's bye bye for her...
  17. Well, beat upload rate 49 kBps, total upload 672.84 MB, total time 4 hours 53 min!
  18. Whoa, d/l rate 79 kBps, u/l rate 17 kBps...I'll try to seed as much as possible, but college goes off for winter break soon, so I won't be able to seed again until like mid-Janurary.
  19. It's sad what many of these people are missing just because it doesn't have a name like Final Fantasy 7 on it . This is an excellent remix, with a nice blend of instruments and excellent rearrangement of the chords.
  20. Please don't bash a remix due to genre, it's very unnerving to music enthusiasts, especially those who do enjoy electronica (by saying techno, that's stereotyping). Stating your preference fine, but your post belongs more on the Request forum. Anyway, I might as well give my own review. Personally, I thought this remix was repetitive. I know Mr. Piracha has improved much over the course of time, one only has to look at his more recent remixes, but strictly speaking, I would've preferred the melody having a more driving role in the song, maybe a less muffed-sounding synth. Also, I didn't like the beginnings and ends of the song too much, they kinda took out interest for the remix. Third, there is the other instrument synths, they are pretty annoying. And finally, it could've probably been longer and been packed with a lot more.
  21. Whoa, I missed this at first for some reason . Another Kefka remix NoppZ? You must love this theme . Anyway, I find this interesting, I wasn't sure what the title meant by carnival at first, until I started listening to it. Well done, I like this quite a bit, although as Protricity does mention, it is kinda repetitive. Not unexpected of a techno-type of piece, but still, I kinda wished for a little more variety.
  22. Well, I was already "tranced out" before I listened to this remix from another song...so I dunno if I'd be accurate here. I love the "smooth" (not sure of what is the exact terminology, is it the gated effects that djp mentioned?) effects in this song, they lend to an absorbing remix. I also love the change in the rhythm and melody from the original, all making this a pretty cool techno/trance song that is all in all pretty solid. The only thing noticable someone might complain is the lack of anything heavy, but that is okay.
  23. FF6 > FF7 & CT . Sorry, had to comment on that since people seem to give those games more credit than FF6 . Edit: Since Rexmaster PMed me, I'll give a more justified post. The purpose of that was not only to display another view, but to show the obsurdity of the other post in a subtle way, since that person put something in besides the purpose of a review (I intended to give a review, but not at that moment because I was kinda busy - I didn't get to listen to the song at that point). True, I am party to the same silliness through the unedited post, but I hoped through my (intentional) mistake that that point would be gotten across...(and for the record, I appreciate FF7 and CT too, but people seem zombified by those soundtracks, not to mention the games in general, that they only confine their musical preferences...) Anyway, this is an interesting remix, mixing some marching elements, with techno and orchestral. My biggest complaint is the string instrument samples, while flowing nicely in their own way, I'd prefer live instruments . So I'm a big fan of string instruments, shoot me (I like it more than the overplayed guitar oftentimes). Despite this thought that maybe live string instruments would make it nicer (well, the advantage of the certain sample is that the instrument transition a little later appears almost unnoticed), I'd have to say it's a good remix. Oh, and around the more technoish area of the remix, something just seems a little weak in the mood setting. It might be because of the background drums, but the low volume level was ideal for the smooth transition to the ending, which fit the overall mood of the piece. Tough call though, since changing that would mean changing the whole interpretation.
