  1. You'll never guess what happened. I know weight fluctuates all the time, but I lost 10 lbs in 1 day. That's one heck of a difference.

One other thing that happened was that I went for a run for the first time in 8 months. I ran 3-4 miles a day for 2 years yet this run I did went easier then at my peak back then.

But in the meantime, I've been staying around the 205 mark for the last few months and I think it's about time I finished up and lost the rest of the weight I want to lose. To kick start this, I'm going to be making something I dub "José Jalapeño on a Stick" No carbs!

  2. Well guys, I did it. I finally put the game down. It's been one heck of a journey and my thumbs will never be the same, but I'm glad it's finally over. I used my fortune to craft 50 2-star items for my free company, put all my crafting materials into the free company chest, converted all my crafting sets, and discontinued my subscription. The game is finally over. Let me tell you my accomplishments.

Every crafting class at 50 with fully melded AF gear for all of them. I could make any item in the game with a 100% chance of HQ.

Every gathering class at 50 with fully melded AF gear for all of them.

Full iLevel 90 White Mage with 3 pieces of allagan gear. and 3 other level 90 drops.

    iLevel 74 Dragoon

All extreme mode primals defeated with healer's drops from each of them.

    Story completed

    All seasonal events completed

All treasure maps done over and over again.

Cumulatively made about 4 million gil through crafting.

    Beaten coil turn 1-4

The only thing I wasn't able to do was turn 5. I created a static group of friends in my free company to take on coil. All of us used mumble and were ready to go. The first time we did it, only 1 other person showed up. That really was what made me quit the game. I went against titan extreme 100 times and only beat him 4 times before I got my healer's earrings. Not once did my free company of hundreds of people go with me. The community is what makes an MMO great. There isn't a single MMO out there that you should play alone and none of the members in my free company wanted to do this high level of play. Originally I was going to quit when the level cap was increased but that seems like it will be a long way off. In 2.2, they are going to be introducing higher level gear making all my hard earned level 90 gear out of date. And that just won't do.

Now that I'm done, I have a massive backlog of games to play. I'll be starting with another playthrough of Deus Ex Human revolution and I can't wait till Uncharted 3 comes in the mail.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else still on ARR?

  3. Lo and behold everyone, I just got another craft to 50..... and I hate crafting.

    My classes are.

    Carpenter - 50

    Weaver - 50

    Blacksmith - 50

    Goldsmith - 50

    Alchemist - 15

    Armorer - 15

    Leatherworker - 15

    Culinarian - 15

Wow, I cant believe how expensive Fleece and Diremite webs are. Also, if you wanted to do the triple turn-in leve quest in Mor Dhona, you would need 108 fleece to make the 9 items. You save on leve allowances but you go through a lot of crystals and materials. But in any case I think armorsmith might be next because I already have a miner to help with that. Either that or leatherworker. But I'm nervous because in carpentry or blacksmith, all you need to do to get your materials is go gather them. But for leatherworker, you need to hunt them and get random drops. That doesn't seem like a good use of time when you can gather materials faster.

  4. Wow, look at all the content they are getting us for 2.1 There's player and FC housing, Crystal Tower, Moogle king fight, Beast tribe quests, Treasure hunts, Hair saloon(with a lot of new haircuts) NOOOOOOO they brought back Hildibrand, OMG, the pharos. I loved that in FF12. Hardmode dungeons, duty roulette, extreme mode primal fights, new story quests...... This update is going to be EPIC

  5. Still looking for that perfect TV. Budget of $800 and needs to be at least 50" 120hz without that dumb smart or 3D gimmick. Been looking all over and I just don't want to buy a lesser brand like element or vizio. Needs to be top tier like Sony, Samsung, Phillips.

I'm sorry but does anyone see a good deal out there?

EDIT: In other news, 4K is already down to $3,000

  6. Everyone check it out. This is the greatest screenshot I have ever taken. God, I was lucky.

Yea, I'm playing as a sissy little white mage. Laugh all you want but it's me who's keeping you alive. You screw with the white mage, and you're not getting back up again.

Strange thing is, I've never done a healer in any game before. But I was able to level this one to 50 with almost full darklight gear (Relic + 1 on next monday). I'm surprised myself.

  7. Sorry, did I say series? I meant ever. Even Brave Fencer Musashi (Squaresoft) on the PS1 had better acting. Look, there were only 2 good voice actors in FFX: Jecht and Auron. And the worst voice acting was done by the 3 most important characters (Tidus, Yuna, Seymour). Hmmm, maybe that second in command guado was the worst though..... not really good at looking at a bunch of bad acting and telling which one is less bad.

You know what? I just might say that the acting in FF14 A Realm Reborn might be worse. Though you should hardly judge an MMO on it's acting unless it has the amount of voiced cutscenes as say... The Old Republic. But everyone talks so unbelievably slow and since the dialogue doesn't continue past the current dialogue box until you hit a button, every sentence is just so disconnected from eachother.

Uhhh, what was I talking about again? I seem to have just put more nonsense into a single post that I have ever done.

  8. That's it!!! I am PISSED off. When I started playing I looked to see what craft made white mage weapons and it was carpentry. I got my white mage up to 50 while at the same time leveling up carpentry, blacksmith, and goldsmith. (along with botany and mining) I hate crafting. But I endured it all for one purpose only: To make my ultimate White Mage weapon. Now that I have just beaten Castrum Meridianum I was looking into what I would need to get my White Mage relic weapon. What do I need?

    ALCHEMY!!?!??!?!

What idiot decided that alchemy would be the class to make White Mage weapons? That's the stupidest thing I've seen in this game by far! Even more than Alchemy making grimoire (It should be leatherworker). I probably put over 100 hours into crafting and gathering and it was all for nothing! NOTHING!!! I HATE crafting and look what I endured for this.

    Carpentry: 46

    Blacksmith:42

    Goldsmith: 45

    Alchemy: 15

    Cook: 15

    Leatherworker: 15

    Weaver: 15

    Armorsmith: 15

    Miner: 33

    Botany:32

For your information, at level 15 of each craft, you get a really good ability that you can use in any of your crafts. Things like rumination and tricks of the trade are invaluable in crafting.

  9. I have decided to get myself a 50" TV. Thing is, they aren't exactly cheap. I want to be absolutely sure before I make a purchase. One thing I'm leaning toward isthe SONY 50" (diag) R450 Series LED HDTV

    http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666590655

I currently have a 32" SONY Bravia and I love it. I love it so much that I'm sticking with SONY TV's again. I would like your advice and input if you are able.

My criteria is that it needs to be 50", don't care about 3D or it being a smart TV. Question is though, it's only 60 Hz. Do you think I should try for 120 or 240?

Another one I'm looking into is This one here. The Samsung - 50" Class (49-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - HDTV. It's not a SONY but I know Samsung is a big name and this one has the 120 HZ

  10. Further Server and System Improvements

As we continue to address server issues, I would like to follow up on my previous announcement regarding the measures being taken to improve this situation.

With the maintenance completed on September 4, we have increased the number of concurrent connections allowed across all Worlds by roughly 60,000 users. For the time being, however, we believe it necessary to maintain login and character creation restrictions, even though they have inconvenienced many of our players.

With the exception of recently added Worlds, each World can now support 7,300 to 7,800 simultaneous logins. Further increasing this limit runs the risk of causing severe lag in all zones. We will continue monitoring server loads to ensure a stable playing environment as we move forward with our plans.

Following the increase in server capacity, we reached 325,000 simultaneous logins, and we anticipate that this number will only increase. Therefore, as our development and operations teams continue to work towards a full-scale upgrade of our servers and systems in order to accommodate more players, we will continue our suspension of digital sales of the game.

During this time, we will be monitoring connections during peak times for each data center. Once we have confirmed that all Worlds and the zones within them are stable, we will continue to monitor server loads and populations in real time as we prepare to upgrade our servers and make other extensive improvements.

The following is a general outline of our major goals to improve overall server and system stability. Specific details will be announced as soon as they are available.

    1. Substantially increase the number of Worlds.

    2. Create a third duty finder group to further alleviate server stress.

    3. Increase the number of servers used for instances.

Even with the increased capacity of all Worlds, the number of simultaneous logins is still reaching the limit. Because increasing server capacity further would result in significant stress to individual zones, frequent restrictions on character creation have been necessary for the most heavily populated Worlds.

Furthermore, since simply adding new Worlds would heavily stress the Duty Finder system, a significant increase to the number of Worlds will be accompanied by the creation of a third Duty Finder group for each data center. We will also increase the number of servers used for instances. We believe these steps will allow for a marked increase in the number of concurrent connections our servers can maintain.

With that said, we have also noticed that many players are leaving their characters idle in game due to the login restrictions we have set in place to maintain server stability. In response to requests to address this issue, we are working to implement a feature that will automatically log out characters that are idle for a prolonged period of time.

The above improvements are scheduled to be implemented next week. We will make an announcement at the beginning of next week with further details.

    4. Commence World transfer service.

In addition to our above plans to improve server stability, we will begin service for World transfers. Players who were unable to join their desired World due to character creation restrictions will now be able to move to a World of their choosing.

We realize many players would like to play together with their friends, and preparations for the World transfer service are a top priority. We are also working towards resuming digital sales for those who had planned to purchase the game but were unable to do so.

    5. Begin large-scale improvements for long term operations.

Next year will see the PlayStation 4 release and another influx of players. In order to ensure the best experience for all of our customers and customers-to-be, we are carefully monitoring our operations as we continue planning extensive changes to improve the game.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused by the current restrictions to logins, character creation, and digital sales. I assure you that our entire company is working tirelessly to improve your gaming experience, and we hope we can count on your continued support.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida

  11. Yoshida said that they needed 400,000 people to make the game profitable. Looking at vgchartz, (I know it's not that reliable but I don't have anything else to go off of.) the game sold 720,000 copies and that is only on PC. Does not have ps3 figures. The game just recently had a record of 218,000 users online at the same time. After the server fix today, I don't know how many people will join.
