Man, this is really nice. Very relaxing. I think the second half could benefit from a very light drum beat, but of course, I love drums
I really like the violin; keep it up!
-
Yes, I agree! Please finish this!
-
yeah beginning was a highlight for me also. was this heavily influenced by the Brink of Time album? the instruments are very similar to some of those used in that jazz/funky/spacey album. at least it seemed so to me. cool stuff, and best of luck!
Wow! Haha, Brink of Time influence? As much as I thought that album was different and interesting, it never even occurred to me that this sounded like it. Although, now that I think about it, it does have a similar genre feel to it, doesn't it? I'm honored... I think. That album was controversial to the extreme! I still enjoy listening to it every once in a while, though.

This is good. I like your instrument choices, and the drum section in the second half is rad. Add a little more bass to the kick in the first section.
This sounds more like a MIDI rip than an all out remix, so try and add some of your own sections, like a new melody or something. The drums are a good start on that.
Keep working on adding some of your own flair; I like where this is going.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment!

This song is now done
I'll submit it within the next day or two. Wish me luck!

Okay, I did some updates to this puppy. I changed the pitch; I was messing with it, and I found a pitch I liked more than the original . Did some tweaking to accommodate it, and I tweaked some guitars and drums. I'll probably submit this soon...
P.S. I changed my name to something more interesting
-
Mmm, I like. Reminds me of Xenogears.

Wow, thank you for all of the comments. I guess I'm finally where I need to be; this is my quintillionth mix of this song, but this is the first one I actually feel good about. Here's the real shocker: I made this with Garageband. Yes, Garageband. I switched from FL Studio when I got a Mac, and this is the first mix I made with it. I think I'll stay
So, is this submission worthy?
Again, I really appreciate all of the comments, and I'm glad everybody is enjoying it.

Enjoy!

UPDATED 1/4/08
-PITCH change

I thought it sounded better in this pitch. At this point, I think it's pretty much finished, and I'll probably submit it soon. Any comments still welcome!

Wow, really nice work. I have a WIP for the same song (my umpteenth), and this melody never ceases to move me.
-
Happy birthday, man.

Hmm... Make sure the square at the top labeled PAT is filled in and not the SONG one.

I'm trying many ideas with this tune (Memories of Green) until i hit the bullseye. Please have a listen and leave comments.
Thanks for your support.
EDIT: Whoops, forgot the link. That would be helpful, wouldn't it?

Sure thing - here you go:

I made some improvements over the last version anyway. On a side note, I know that the dB level goes a little high at 1:15 -- I'll fix it.

DAYUM this is awesome! It's not too long at all... In fact, the only complaint I have is that the song ends. Please finish (actually sounds finished already...)
Excellent work!
-
Ah, the memories of this tune...
I think it sounds great except that the background synth sounds off in some places and needs to be lowered in volume. Please finish this; it's really great!
-
Wow, some very very nice ideas here. The beginning is a little bit repetitive, but once it hits the countdown and into the main theme, that is very cool. It had a really cool segue into it, and the lead synth sounds really good with the pads. Id say maybe work on intro a bit, and you've got yourself a really a solid mix, and any flaws mechanically that some people might point out can be overshadowed by the originality of this song. Great work
Took your advice and changed the intro a bit:

Still much work to be done:
1. Level out high decibel noises
2. Mess w/ panning and volume of certain tracks
3. Extend (maybe I'll try doing a battle scene in space -- if done correctly, I think it could be neat)
-
I did this on a whim; I suddenly had the crazy yet undeniably awesome idea to try and incorporate blasting off into space with one of my favorite source tunes (and one of the few I can actually play right now ). It's less than 2 minutes long; I just want a taste of what others think before I proceed any further.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

One thing I know would spruce up my mix is a tempo change, but I'm still kind of in the dark as to how to do it without messing the whole thing up. In FL you can change the tempo actively, but I can't do that while I'm playing. And if I wanted to, say, do a gradual tempo increase, that wouldn't work that way. Really, what's limiting me is ignorance.
-
Hm, didn't know about the limit. Thanks. Anyway, I definitely know what you mean, and I would love to add some pizazz, but my PC doesn't cooperate like it used to. Somewhere along the line I'll attempt to revamp this a little.
-
Well, I'm really bringing this one back from the dead... Anyway, I finally found time to have at it with my computer, and, after lowering some of the sound levels on my tracks, most of the crackling went away, so I was able to polish it up a bit. I'm not sure how much longer I"m going to work on this, since it sounds pretty damn good to me, but what do I know?

I can't do much in the way of advice, but let me just say this is ****ing awesome
Keep up the good work!
-
Oh, gotcha. That's a great way to do it. I'm backing up my original, though, just in case
Thanks a bunch.
