5.) WHY is your favorite game series your favorite, and why would you suggest others to look into it?

I've always been a fan of anything relating to the zombie genre (movies, games, etc.) and Resident Evil does more than satisfy my tastes. I picked up the Resident Evil archives book when it was released and read it in one sitting because I'm actually very interested in reading how the various viruses in the games develop and evolve. So I guess it's mainly just the game's setting and biological mumbo jumbo that keep me hooked. That, and Barry Burton is a badass.

As for Castlevania, it's simple. I'm a big side scrolling person and Castlevania has gone from being a simple, get to the end of the level side scroller to one that eventually took in some RPG elements which I always enjoy. And even it's 3D incarnations (while most will probably disagree) have been solid platformers to help add to the series' interesting timeline of events.

  2. I hate to ask again but I'd like to make another sig request. If it's possible I was wondering if someone would be able to make me a sig of either of the following...

Either one featuring Faust or Eddie of the Guilty Gear series, or one featuring Jagi from Hokuto no Ken. The last one is kind of a stretch maybe, but if either can be done I'd greatly appreciate it.

If anyone who decides to make one I can pm them reference pictures of the characters to avoid clogging the thread of pictures. Many thanks.

  3. Picked up Phantom Hourglass yesterday and I'm actually really enjoyed it so far. At first I was skeptical on the game being controlled via only the stylus but it translates better than I figured it would. I haven't had much to time to progress so far (I've only just reached the Isle of Ember to find Astrid), but I'm looking forward to what the game has to offer.

Also, has anyone heard tell of of

    Dementium: The Ward? (Kotaku Link)

Developed by Renegade Kid it looks like we could get a decent horror genre of game on the DS. Maybe it could even make up for the mediocrity that was Touch the Dead?

  4. My PS2 has been getting about double it's normal use now since I've picked up Accent Core. I was just curious as to what most people's preferred characters were... Mine including, Faust, Testament, Eddie, Robo-Ky, and Zappa. I also like to try out Axl every now and then.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is due for a November release right? I'm just looking forward to finally being able to use Marco.

  5. Costume changes are a neat concept but I don't see it happening.

As for new items? Mario Kart's blue shell, it would track down the person with either the highest amount of lives in stock mode, or highest amount of points in timed battles.

  6. Street Fighter Anniversary Collection - YES

This collection is really the only way to be able to play Third Strike on your PS2, and mixing and matching different character versions from Street Fighter 2 to pit against each other is always a bit of fun. Unless your opponent is Championship Edition Bison...

    Star Fox: Assault - YES

Why yes? While the game wasn't well received among many I consider it this generation's Starfox 64. Mainly because the multiplayer in it is just as fun, and multiplayer is always the main reason people play Starfox games, it's a blast.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - YES

This was the most charming experience I've had on the DS yet, I mean who doesn't want to control a slime? The battles are quite fun and frantic as you're hopping around your giant slime-shaped tank to collect ammo to fire at your opponent's tank. It gets even better once you start recruiting other members with different abilities to support you in battle.

  7. The more I play RE4 Wii the more it hurts that UC was supposed to be just like this but they dumbed it down...I hope nobody buys that game, regardless if it's good or not, to punish Capcom for taking away what-might-have-been.

I owe it to myself to buy UC if it's bad or not, I'm too huge of a RE fan to miss out on it. There's a section of my bedroom dedicated to the series, heh.

  8. I think they should stop trying so hard to make Yoshi suck. He has the potential to be a very good character, if it weren't for stupid and deliberate steps taken to make him suck. Not being able to jump right out of a shield, for example.

Here's hoping for better things from Yoshi in Brawl.

I, on the other hand am really looking forward to seeing how DK is going to be. I don't even know why, I only used him from time to time in Melee...

  9. I know this is kinda of old news but has anyone here been keeping up with Super Street Fighter Turo HD Remix (man what a long name). They recently released a Ken sprite early last week. This week, about 2 days ago, they released several Akuma sprites. You can see these images at any game site. Udon also posted these sprites in there Deviantart gallery. All and all I would say they look really good. The Akuma sprites look really detailed. I can't wait to see what the other characters look like.

    Here are some links

All of the sprites so far look great, but now I'm glad they're done with showcasing the shotos, as there's not much diversity in how their attacks look and such. I can't wait to see the new Dhalsim and Blanka sprites personally.

  10. Anyway, I started playing Melee again, and I guess I never noticed how compact the stages are. I'd like to see a few more Hyrule Temple-sized levels. I don't want a whole game made out of them, but a wider selection of large stages might be nice.

Personally, I loved the compact levels, made things much more hectic and fast paced. I'm really only used to playing tournament legal stages now. But all the same, I can see where you're coming from on the Hyrule Temple-ish stages, some friends of mine love that place and stages that size really are good for casual laugh with your buddies while playing Smash. Hopefully they'll have a better balance of large to small stages in Brawl.

  11. Seems I've gone and made a few posts already before noticing this thread.

Dr. Wilhelm here, but you can me William or Doc, whichever. The "Doc" comes from a group of friends of mine I play Guilty Gear with on regular basis, my favorite character to use being Faust (hence the name).

I've enjoyed numerous remixes here on the site for a long time now and wondered why I never made an account here in the first place. So now I'm finally here.

I like what I'm seeing of the forums so far and hope I don't make a fool out of myself in them, heh. Glad to be here.

  12. Street Fighter Alpha 3 - YES

Any red-blooded SF fan cannot deny how good this installment is. Arguments always arise to which is better, Alpha 3 or Third Strike. While personally I prefer Third Strike that doesn't mean I'm never down for a match or two (or three, four, etc.) of Alpha 3. Not only does it have an all-star cast of SF veterans it has a great soundtrack to duke it out too, nice looking backgrounds and fighters, and of course it has solid gameplay with a few different modes to play in. A great game for anyone's shelf.

    We Love Katamari - YES

Ok, so you roll around a highly adhesive ball, collecting junk, food, plantlife, etc. to create stars, it's so very charming, seriously. Straightforward concept and simple control schemes make We Love Katamari accesible to wide range of gamers (and maybe even non-gamers) alike. Be warned, many songs in this game are very infectious and may leave you humming for hours.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - YES

Not much to say here, a simple, delightful RPG with no complicated battle/skill systems that usually turn most off of the genre. Charming story, and hilarious dialogue throughout even make it a pleasure to watch the cutscenes.

"Our play was called the Mystery of the Firey Hat of Social Awareness."

  13. Wow, nice to see such a huge discussion here on the DS (I'm new here), especially since I come in on one of my favorite topics, puzzle games.

I'm pretty much in love with my DS at the moment, it gets more attention than the other mess of consoles laying around my room.

    Current titles I own are:

    Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

    Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

    Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime

    Elite Beat Agents

    Final Fantasy III

    Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales

    Kirby Squeek Squad

Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2

    Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan

    Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All

    Pokemon: Pearl Version

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

    Resident Evil Deadly Silence

    Starfox Command

    Touch the Dead

    Yoshi's Island DS

Not much of a collection yet but I'm working on it, which brings me to a question... any recommendations? I'm open to all genres for the most part, and a lot of the games at the store I work at are on discount for $18, so maybe there's a gem there I don't know about? Thanks.

Also, is it at all sad I spend most of my break time at work to play Ouendan rather than eat food?

  14. Alright, I've been visiting this site for ages now but have only recently signed up; this is my first post in fact.

Now, I'm huge into fighting games, my personal favorites being Street Fighter III: Third Strike and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core.

I was wondering if would be at all possibly to construct a Street Fighter III sig displaying the characters Ibuki, Urien, and Necro (my personal favorites) with my username tagged in the corner. If three characters is too much to add you can drop one of you wish, doesn't matter which, I like all of them, ha.

Here's a link to find character art for each character requested:

    http://www.sfgalleries.net/art/sf3/sf3-3s/series2/

^Just click on the character portrait to bring up their respective art.

If this can be done thank you very much, this is a great thread idea for those new to the site. Also, there's been great work displyed so far, keep it up.
