  1. BUMP!

    I was hoping we'd get a little more response than this ^_^;

Well, I might as well express interest, obviously. Is anybody in the area interested in collabing again? (the area = NoVA/MD/DC area.) I always have ideas for music videos, but nothing solid that I'm dead set on this time, so I'm up for brainstorming.

And to anybody who was interested in our last challenge but didn't make the deadline, now is your change to redeem yourself and finish up your video this time around!

  2. And now it's time for...

OverClocked Remix Music Video Challenge 5

We will have an IRC viewing party the evening of the challenge's deadline. The tentative deadline for this challenge is Sunday, August 21. I wanted to pick a time towards the end of the summer because the summer is a tricky time when everyone goes on vacations and has other things planned. Hopefully that day will work for everyone, but I will leave it open to discussion, and if too many people have conflicts, we can move the date.

    IRC viewing party details

    Sunday, August 21 @ 9 PM EST

    irc.esper.net #ocrmvc

The guidelines for participating are simple:

    1. Pick a posted OCReMix. Posted album tracks from official OCR albums are OK, too.

1b. If you wish, you may share which remix you have chosen so that we don't all pick your chosen remix. However if you would rather keep yours secret, that's fine too. I will say though, that there are plenty of remixes to choose from, and we've never had any repeats so far.

    2. Make a music video! But please, nothing so inappropriate or vulgar that it would break the YouTube guidelines.

    3. Upload your video to YouTube as unlisted. (From YouTube: "Unlisted" means that only people who know the link to the video can view it. The video will not appear in any of YouTube's public spaces, such as search results, your channel, or the Browse page, but the link can be shared with anyone.)

    4. PM me the link before the deadline.

    Other ways to participate

Making a music video can be a big project, that might benefit from collaborating with others. If you're interested in participating but don't have the means/time/energy to make your own video from start to finish, I encourage you to post in this thread to let us know what skills or equipment you can provide and what sort of people you might be looking to collaborate with. There are many different skills that could be used in making a music video, such as: camera work, lighting, acting, modeling, dancing, photography, drawing, video editing, providing props or set or costumes... the ideas are really limitless. So don't be afraid to jump into the discussion and start a collaboration with others.

    Participants

    - Chernaborgue

    - Darangen

    - diotrans/Arrow/Kizyr possibly perverted, possibly not perverted collab

    - setzertrancer

    - Noc

    - analoq

    - consequently, Modus & LAOS

    Call for volunteers

The previous OCRMVCs have been a success, and we would like to see it grow and expand to more participants and viewers. We always welcome any volunteers who want to help promote the OCRMVC. Ways you can help include creating a promotional banner or trailer video, or promoting the OCRMVC in any other forums or communities where it might reach interested people.

We also have a YouTube channel, so you can also help us out by promoting the channel, which has links to the videos from the previous challenges.

  3. Forthcoming! I thought I'd just give it another week, and then announce it. I hope that's OK with everyone. I just didn't want to have another super long OCRMVC where all the momentum dies because everybody thinks they have forever to do their video >.>

BTW I updated the OCRMVC YouTube Channel with the promo video and a playlist with the latest set of videos. Duly noted that it could use some decorating so I quickly just changed the theme colors ^_^; If anybody wants to volunteer some artistic skills to make a nice background image or something for it, that would of course be welcome .)

  4. I got around to watching all of the videos posted in the chat log. The Insomniac Skies video was great! I was digging the violin shots in particular; very nice. So sad that Aaron left you! =P

Thanks, Kaleb! I wondered what you might think when you saw the pics of me and Aaron, LOL.

  5. Thanks again to everyone who made videos and/or made it to our viewing party!! Another successful OCRMVC, woo hoo!!

Here is the chat log: http://diotrans.com/random/OCRMVC4chatlog.txt

I want to go back and watch everybody's videos again, paying full attention and without flipping back and forth from IRC .) I think all the videos were really great and once again it's wonderful to see everyone's video skills improving.

I guess as long as I'm posting in this thread I may as well share some fun facts about my video:

    - This was originally inspired from the very first OCRMVC, largely from LAOS's amazing video, but really all the live action videos. I had had random video ideas float around in my head before, but that was really the first time I thought it would be feasible to do one, once I saw other people doing it. I really hope we see more of the live action videos, even if they're not super polished or whatever, I think they are fun and they bring variety to the OCRMVC (since it seems that most of our videos are not using footage filmed by us). So yeah, I had this idea in my head for more than a year, and I finally decided to do it.

    - This isn't that important, but originally, I had planned on wearing a spring dress for the outdoor scenes, since we were filming in spring. The temperature turned out to be in the 30's that day! But when I saw the coat + gloves outfit on camera, I realized that worked much better, because it captures the feeling of coldness and loneliness. We were all freezing our asses off, thank you crew members for sticking it out with me .)

    - Our crew was brilliant and amazing and did a much better job than I would have alone. (Actually, alone, none of this really would have been possible.) They had all sorts of good ideas for places to shoot, angles, lighting, things for me to do on camera, etc. I already thanked them but THANK YOU AGAIN! I love you all!!

    - So that guy in the picture is my buddy Aaron. When I was still planning the details of the video, I had mentioned to a few people that I'd need a guy to pose with me in pictures. People were wondering why I didn't just have Palpable/Vinnie (my dear boyfriend) do that. (In case you haven't seen the video yet... it should become obvious why at the end.) I'm really glad I didn't use pictures of me + Vinnie! I think that would have made me feel horrible, and weird for anybody to watch who knows us.

OK yes diotrans is tl;dr-ing again... >.> To sum up: OCRMVC4 was awesome, thank you everybody, love you all!! <3

  6. IT IS TIME!!!!

I am posting all the links to the videos. You can queue them now, and please queue in HD when possible. We will watch them in this order on IRC and discuss them as we watch. I will announce each one as we watch it so we're all watching the same thing at the same time. I will also post a chat log once it's all done.

One more time, the IRC viewing party: irc.esper.net #ocrmvc

    And now for the videos:

    Modus - Promo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOsCfAeWjRA

JH Sounds - “Mazedude - Smileyspot”:

Chernabogue (main entry)- “Pokémon: the MissingNo Tracks Version Opening”:

Chernabogue (project preview)- “Castlevania: Vampire Variations - Project Preview”:

    setzertrancer- “bLiNd - Golbez & Goblins”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLIgVpCajYM

diotrans - “diotrans - Insomniac Skies”:

  7. Our video is "done," though tomorrow I think I am going to fine-tune it a bit. Just has some spots that I'm not satisfied with.

You guys the viewing party is in a little over 20 hours and I have ONE link. Please tell me that JH and I are not the only ones with videos to show!!

  8. Sorry for double posting, but is it possible to have the viewing party a bit earlier? I have the opportunity of be there this time but 9PM Est Time is like 3 or 4 AM in France, and as I'm supposed to study on Monday. If it is not possible, no problem, I'll try to stay awake until then! :)

Oh dear... while we'd love to have you there for the viewing party, at this point I'd really rather not change the time, seeing as I've made the FB event already and there are so many RSVPs. I think it might confuse people. If in general, it would be better for you to have the viewing party earlier, we can try to have that arranged for next time, before I post all the details .)

  9. Yo, I had posted the link to the Megaupload a couple posts down. And to the Crysis video from OCRMV3.

I see what you did there, with your ninja post-editing skills. (Seriously I have been so brain fried for the past few weeks with everything going on, pls forgive.) Thanks for sharing the links. When I have my head on straight, I'll update the YT stuff.

Okay, so I decided on Collision from VotL. Is that okay, despite the fact that it's not actually posted on the site? It looks like according to your rules, it is, but I just want to make sure before I put a lot of work into this.

If it was on the album, that's fine. The more videos the merrier! Look forward to seeing what you do with it.

  10. Modus: Yeah Megaupload it if that's all right with you, right now the OCRMVC channel doesn't have any videos of its own so that way when ppl look for its videos the promo will be what they see. I think that would be cool.

setzer: Can't wait to see it!!

Chernabogue: We <3 you too

We finished moving today... tomorrow we find and reassemble the pieces of Vinnie's computer and resume work on video editing!

  11. Guys, how many videos do we have anyway? I'm getting worried we'll have the biggest crowd to date, but the least videos yet ><

This is a good question. I will state here that I (and the rest of the people involved) will have one video to show and I'm fairly confident it will be finished .) (Our preparations for moving tomorrow, on the other hand... >.>) And it sounds like Chernabogue is finished with 2, and setzer is making good progress on his, right? So that's 4 at least. I tend to find that a few random videos turn up at the last minute, so hopefully somehow that will happen again. Plus there is still a week left! So anybody who happens to not be insanely busy with other stuff in life... you might want to break out your camera and start filming something? .)

Modus, your trailer is awesome!! I am not just biased because my video is in it ,) I love what you did with the logo. The effort you put into it definitely shows. Even though by the time it's the viewing party, we obv don't need an invitation to it, I think it would still be nice to show it because the viewing party is about appreciation and discussion of videos, and I think this video is relevant enough. However, your video of Stevo/OA/DA dancing, while amazing, may not be as relevant ;-)

Here is the info for the viewing party:

    May 1, 2011 @ 9:00 PM EST

    irc.esper.net #ocrmvc

I also updated the first post with that info.

You guys, Vinnie and I are both like sleep-deprived and totally brain fried with everything going on in our lives right now, but we have been trying hard to work 1-2 hours in on the video every day because we are so excited about it. It's about 85% finished, and I'm at the point where I'm picturing it in my head even as I'm trying to fall asleep. (I can't help but feel there is a bit of irony there, staying up thinking about my video for INSOMNIAC SKIES.) I'm biased but I think it's going to be really good!

    Yay diotrans went tl;dr again!!

EDIT: Oh yeah one more thing, Modus, when you're done with the promo video, could you send it to me? I'd like to upload it to the OCRMVC YouTube channel if that's all right with you.

  12. Oh man, now a Facebook group... there are gonna be so many people there and I have n-n-n-nothing D:

But wait, an idea! I'll double this promo I'm making as an introductory video to the event, if dio will allow it. It'll get everyone all excited and stuff and improve... morale. Or something.

Sure, we can kick things off with the promo. BTW, I meant to ask you if you still want footage from our videos. We've worked on our video a lot more and could send you a more interesting-looking clip.

So yeah, the pressure is on! Something I hadn't really thought about as a result of the FB event is that it looks like we can't really have any extensions, with 13 confirmed and 27 maybes. We wouldn't want to disappoint the fans!! So you all better have some videos to show at this thing!

  13. I'm now at about 70% done and am addicted watching it over and over rather then getting further on it, but that's a good sign right.

    Yes!

How's it going for you Dio, i'm looking forward to a life footage video from you.

Technically my first video was also "live footage" .)

Vinnie and I just did a bunch of editing. It's going faster than I thought it would. I think there's a good chance it'll be done in time. Also, it looks really cool!! I'm way excited for this!

  14. setzer: We're still going to see a super spectacular video for Pirate Shout someday, right??

I don't feel bad for saying what my video was, even though it ruins the surprise factor, but I also noticed it is building some interest/anticipation for the finished result. So maybe it's worth it.

Status of our video is about the same. We're not sure if it's going to be done on time, due to the fact we'll be spending the next 2 weeks packing and moving all of our things (and then unpacking them again). However, we'll definitely have something to show, even if it's unfinished.

  15. I hesitate to say that there is a possibility of moving the deadline when we still have 3 weeks to go, because I feel that may encourage people to procrastinate and then hope for an extension >.> However, we have been lax in the past and I suppose it is a possibility, if everyone agrees they'd like an extension and we don't have any videos to show by that date. Vinnie and I are also extremely busy and we're not sure if we'll get ours done in time, but we are also prepared to just show what we have so far if that's the case. I just don't want people to get upset because I know in the past, some people have worked really hard to make sure theirs was done by that date, and then felt it was unfair when there was an extension given for other people, and I agree that's unfair to those who worked so hard to meet the deadline.

Argh how do I always end up making these things tl;dr. To sum: Yes there is a small possibility the deadline will change, but I would like to avoid that if at all possible. So assume it will be May 1.

  16. The Crysis one is only on Vimeo. I'll have to upload it on a second account because the subscriber base I have on my first account doesn't like that sort of stuff.

OK, well it's not a big deal if it's too much trouble, I mean it's really up to you.

Chernabogue: I added your video to the playlist .)

And yeah, we are pretty lax here. Trimming remixes is fine.

  17. BEHOLD!!!

I have taken the liberty of creating a YouTube account for the OCRMVC! http://www.youtube.com/user/ocrmvc?feature=mhum Please subscribe, link, RT, etc.

I made playlists for each of the past OCRMVCs. However, the first playlist has a lot of omissions because I couldn't think of where to find some of the videos off the top of my head and my brain is absolutely fried right now so I don't have the capacity to go digging around through the logs and forums. However, if you submitted a video in the first OCRMVC or know of the link offhand, please feel free to share here and I'll update it. Otherwise at a later time I'll go digging around.

Modus, do you have a YT link to your video that we viewed on Vimeo? Just so I can link it to my playlist.

I thought of putting up a simple webpage for the OCRMVC too, just to have a single place to store all the info, logs, video links, etc. Maybe when my brain is a little more unfried.
