  1. 3)Why would anyone want to see those six minutes? It's not even the first six (thus losing context) and it isn't like there is a huge time gap between the episodes.
I don't see why anyone would actually want to wait a week for only 20 minutes of action. It's like masturbating for the first 10 seconds of every minute but then resting the other 50: you aren't going to get anywhere. To really get into the mood of watching an anime I like to binge watch, or watch it all in a few days. So although I've already seen the first ep. of CG2, I'll most likely not watch anymore until they complete the season, and then watch the whole thing in a couple of days.
  2. I can read hiragana, and I can write it too, but not in proper stroke order, though I hear it's important so I'll get around to learning it soon.

I'm taking Japanese as my elective at Georgia Tech (majoring in Computer Science) and am on my second semester. I'm seriously learning the language, not just trying to understand games/anime.

Really, it's all Grammar, Vocabulary, and Writing. Of those three, I find vocab - not writing - the hardest. There are always so many words to learn.

I'd like to seriously learn the language as well, anime may have inspired me but it's not like I want my vocabulary to only consistent of ちくしょ and だってばよ(naruto referrence, LOL). I haven't had that much trouble with vocabulary or writing yet since both are pretty straight forward, it's the grammar that I find mystifying. I need to spend more time studying particles and sentence structure.
  3. The Kanji is almost fun to learn if you do it in the childrens' grammatical way of combining the radicals and smaller kanji words (there aren't too many variations. Just a lot of combinations) and it becomes easier to digest.
Yea, that's what I'm doing, learning/memorizing kanji any other way is a real bitch.

Thanks for the advice so far, everyone.

  4. Haha, "nerdy whims," I like that. But yea, there are lots of good reasons to learn a second language, whether anime is one of them or not. I've been fiddling with a few different methods and approaches of how to teach myself japanese, and the best thing I've gotten so far is "memorize a shitload of kanji and just start reading." What approach did you guys take to learn the language?

  5. I was wondering if any of you have ever considered learning japanese because of anime or manga. Because a couple months back the thought, "I've been watching anime for a couple of years now and I'll probably continue to do so for the rest of my life, it wouldn't be a bad investment to at least learn some japanese," hit me. Has this every happened to you?

  6. I say it's LIKE Death Note because it's a good psychological anime. And I said "mechs" because there are a lot of them, but the anime doesn't focus on them too heavily like Gundam does, it'd be more accurate to say "set in a futuristic setting." So it's a good psychological anime that is set in a futuristic setting. THERE!

  7. A couple things I wanna mention...

First of all, season 2 of Code Geass has begun. This is great news since it left off on an insane cliff hanger at the end of season 1 that drove everyone CRAZY (or maybe just me). If you've never heard of Code Geass then I can say it's like Death Note except with mechs (it's good, you should check it out).

Second, I saw Midori no Hibi recently and it had me teary-eyed by the final episode, which doesn't happen often, so I can say it was good. It's your typical "girl likes guy but has trouble revealing her feelings" anime but with an interesting twist. It's also worth checking out.

    And that is all.

  8. whoa! I fully endorse an ocr themed game! too bad I'd be completely useless in contributing since I'm not a good sprite artist, programmer, or vgm composer :(

BUT I CAN BE A BETA TESTER!

  9. Knives picked his nose (o_O) all the way to second place with 9 points.

ha ha ha. I'm not all too disappointed with my loss, I don't know a damn thing about how to compose or produce trance or house, and I put my remix together in a couple of days' worth of spare free time. Sir Nuts' was really good though, he probably would have won regardless.

  10. The Name "Knives" fits. I remember him being a prick, too.

Whatever, I just don't like your attitude. If you go anywhere to request something for free then you do it kindly and humbly. You don't come in here all smug and be like, "What're you guys? Too incompetent to remix Blizzard's stuff?" Seriously, that's not cool, it's insulting. There are plently of guys not only on OCR, but on VGMix and other places as well that can come up with a quality remix of Blizzard's stuff in a fairly short period of time. But they don't not because they can't, they don't because they give a shit.

You can't get too picky on a site that doesn't even use the term "remix" properly.

That's why we write it as "ReMix" for clarification. And there were way too many things I disagreed with in his post for me not to mention something. I could of said a lot more and in a much harsher manner but I restrained myself since I'd just be going overboard.

  11. I can only wonder if the artists here find Blizzard's already incredible music untouchable.

That's one possibility, but another possibility could be that no one here really gives a shit about Blizzard's music.

And for others with less knowledge of theory or who remix in less complicated genres like techno (not implying that techno remixers don't understand theory; zircon alone strongly disproves that), an orchestral piece can be too complicated musically either for the remixer to understand or for the genre the remixer wants to remix in.

This can't be... you... you didn't just use the word "techno" to refer to electronic music in general... did you? And... and when you say "orchestral piece" you didn't mean to imply a classical piece... did you?

    IGNORANCE!

It's hard to take your post seriously when it comes across that you don't know anything about classical or electronic music.

Techno is no less of a complicated genre and zircon doesn't do techno.

    Exactly.

  12. Are you serious? I thought Darker than Black was one of the biggest pretentious and shallow anime since Evangelion. The end part didn't make any sense to me either. I admit it was well made, but just didn't have substance to me. That and the constant deus ex that never went explained nor did it even make much sense.

I think that's the main complaint about it, that it's too damn hard to follow because they never clearly spell anything out for you. You mostly have to piece stuff together and assume things if you wanna get through it. Like at the end, where they try to describe that the only way to navigate to the core of hell's gate requires like 20 dolls and broken pieces of a meteor shard: I didn't get that shit AT ALL! But the process of getting to the core wasn't really a main aspect of the plot, it's just that they needed to get there, and they did. But at the actual ending, I understood why Hei did what he did. I guess Darker Than Black is probably one of those "you love it or hate it" kinda things like Evangelion, though I hated Evangelion. To each is his own, right? I also hated Cowboy Bebop and can't understand why everyone loves it. Oh well.

  13. I just saw Darker Than Black and HOLY SHIT was it good. It's a little hard to follow sometimes, since it throws a lot of pieces of information at you without always clearly explaning the current situation, but that doesn't change the fact that's one of the best animes I've seen in a long while and that I was thoroughly satisfied by the end of it.
