  1. I flipped between a few sound sources, mostly my laptop speakers, a cheap pair of headphones and my guitar's training amp. I did have a more expensive set of speakers, but it wore out and broke cos it was old and being pulled out of all the time. Far from ideal I know, but I'm not in the position to be spending fudgeloads differences in sound quality that are only noticeable to the trained ear.
  2. http://www.mediafire.com/?qjyjxnznzyn Just a quick fixup, felt the pads were too quiet.
  3. Any particular judge to recommend? I have visions of me PMing one and them irritably turning round and saying "shag off plz", or something to that effect. That and looking at R:TS is starting to make me wonder, are OCR really the kind of people I want to associate with? This quote from the Wiki ...makes me think that OCR is built on elitism.
  4. You may well be right :/

  5. I didn't mean any insult by that I was just saying that I'd like a few more people with in-depth reviews to boot hanging around like Rozovian. http://www.mediafire.com/?lngwttzvlnz Anyway, my latest version: after carefully analysing some other ReMixes, most notably a few of Rayza's submissions, paid attention to a few small details (like the delay on one of the leads jumping in when it shouldn't) and extended the ending after noting a few complaints that it's too sudden. The EQ is now set up so that the lead is meant to take a centre stage without overpowering the rest of the mix. I still can't help but notice that the snares and lead seem to be missing a little bit on their highs, but that could just be me starting to go deaf, I'm not sure. Now go play with that for a bit and tell me what you think.
  6. Definetely refreshing to find somebody else remixing the same track I am ;P Very solid, very funky, doesn't stay in the same place for any of it! It starts off firmly in chiptune land, then visits the Pet Shop Boys, then some acoustic drums kick in and it gets a funk vibe, then the piano kicks in and gives it a lounge quality, and just as you're getting used to that, you get trumpets giving it a ska sound. Then about 2:30 you get Pendulumy-theremin kinda sound, then it finishes somewhere between the lounge, funk and synthpop sounds it had earlier. Truly, geographically eclectic. Didn't see any obvious problems with the quality, apart from maybe a slight staticy buzz on the FM brass sound at 0:13-0:40. Loads of bells and whistles to keep vigorous listeners entertained. I would call this about as solid as Mike Tyson's chest and say sub it more or less now (maybe give it another mix to fix up anything you didn't like beforehand).
  7. http://www.mediafire.com/?nkzknmzmunz Made an EQ fix to bring up the highs, and made the whole track louder, because on listening to other music on my computer, it was just too quiet overall.
  8. http://www.mediafire.com/?ezwhmaznim5 I was gonna let it sit, but me being me, I had to give it another shot. Whole bunch of effects, mostly choruses and flangers, and a new beat on the second bridge, and more instruments on the third in a sort of climax.
  9. By now I'm tempted to just let it sit for a bit and come back to it later. It's the Christmas holidays, I wanna get some rest (I have NEVER done this much work on a single track, ever), and I'm working on some original stuff anyway. I'm also concerned that if I change the song based on crit from one person, it won't be my song anymore per sé, like, some of these crits are more about style than production. Then again, there doesn't seem to be any other EQ perfectionists in the house. It would be helpful if there were more accomplished remixers analysing the piece for me o.o'
  10. http://www.mediafire.com/?tim0z2dmjyv- Couple of extra pads - EQ in a basic psychoacoustic equal loudness curve (drop the mids, raise the lows and highs) - Toms and hats brought up in the mix Well?
  11. http://www.mediafire.com/?azi4omwgent Eighth mix, tried to fix some drum n mix problems here. Also upped the bitrate from 128 to 192, that mighta fixed some distortion problems. I really like this one now, it sounds more polished than the previous ones.
  12. Well it's good to know that I'm getting somewhere. As it happens, that "white noise" snare, is actually the snare from a 909 kit, but oh well. There's better kits out there, right? Oh, and that thing that rises in at 1:25 is actually clapping.
  13. http://www.mediafire.com/?tjz2zzdgjgeJust some mixing this time, trying to enhance the lead over the rest of the mix and overall increasing the treble over mids and bass. Anything else to be said?
  14. http://www.mediafire.com/?mmdhjitkdwmNext version. It's like I'm making a new one nightly, wow... Well anyway. Fixes this time: - EQ's added to every instrument (had to split the project file in two to do this, I'm using Computer Muzys which only allows a maximum of 15 total plugins) - Layered drums. In retrospect I think the second drum kit needs a fuller sound, but that can be fixed later. - Breakdowns added in the first part of the song - Pads added at the end of the song - Layered lead sound Listening to it back again, I think it's getting a bit cluttered in the mids again, mostly on the bridges, like it's crowding out the lead, would I be right in saying that?
  15. http://www.mediafire.com/?wtgmomyvo2x Fourth mix. Not particularly happy with this one, something went wrong with the drums, it's like the peaks got cut off for some reason. Changes this time: - Lead EQ'd high - Bass instrument (that was there all along ) compressed and EQ'd low - Mid brought down on pads
  16. http://www.mediafire.com/?mtj0nohkhjn Third time lucky? Still don't think I'm quite there yet. Changes this time: - Strengthened kick - Changed one of the synths, added a more paddish sound - Added hats Most of the change is on the first part of the song.
  17. http://www.mediafire.com/file/iwiy22mmrot/AngelIslandRemixTakeTwo.mp3 There's my latest update :3 Includes: - Altered mix, all instruments brought down except lead and drums - Claps on the bridge (provisional sample) - Some corrected notes - Altered lead on the bridge - Second, original bridge And guess what! It's just for you, Newgrounds haters!
  18. http://www.mediafire.com/file/3wninnmwzw5/153048_Angel_Island_Zone.mp3 For those of you whom Newgrounds doesn't like (probably a good reason for that) or who just don't like Newgrounds (shame on you), here's a Mediafire link to the version of the file you can download from Newgrounds. NOTE: This file IS still under the Creative Commons-Attribution-Share Alike-Non Commercial licence that all the work on Newgrounds is under. That means credit me if used even if this is still a WIP.
  19. Now that's something I haven't seen often with remixers, a lot of the time I see "It's too far from the original tune" or something to that effect. I don't want to deviate too much from the source tune, because I'm not that confident in my remixing skills yet. This is only the second tune I've submitted to the WIP forums for discussion, and the other one got lost because NG went down the day I posted the topic. I'm more looking for technical than stylistic advice.
  20. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/153048 Second time posting in the forums, had a bit of a technical difficulty last time I'm still a bit short on feedback, and I'd like to have some about this Sonic 3 remix that I made, can I get some responses?
  21. I don't believe it, the day I submit the thing is the day they choose to do server maintenance...
  22. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/148396 My first remix submitted to the site whee. I'd really like some feedback on it, to find out my strengths and weaknesses in making music.
