  1. Really loud. Especially loud high-end percussion and other high stuff. Tone that stuff down a bit. Piano is a bit soft compared to the electronic instrumentation.

One minute in, source is obvious. Some weird harmonies behind it. I hear references and use of the source's backing elsewhere in the track, so it should be in the clear source-wise.

Ending feels a bit lame. Not so much the fade, but that nothing else changed during the ending. You just drop to a solo and fade once the solo is over. Feels a bit cheap.

Too loud stuff, and with some other minor mixing problems. Weird harmonies. Boring ending. Otherwise it works quite well. A bit too much saturation and other loudening. Balance it better and you should have a pretty good shot at the site here.

    Cool stuff. :D

thank godness you told me that man!! been getting hammered with work and other responsibilites so i haven't had a chance to hop back on the PC and rework it. thank you for the constructive feedback, cause this'll definitely help! of to work on it now!

  2. A terra theme remix I really ended up getting into for a long time. there are some things i need to tweak but i needed to get the general idea out. Hopefully you guys can give some constructive feedback and help me fine tune this badboy so i can post it up for submission. Any Constructive and otherwise feedback is much appreciated!:)

  3. That's... not quite true. There are actually dozens of arrangements of FFMQ out there, just none of them are ever submitted to OCR for whatever reason. Here's everything I have from my personal collection: http://kngi.org/private/miscstuff/ffmq/ (note that I cannot vouch for the quality of this stuff. Your mileage may vary.)

    Also, there's this: http://danieltidwell.bandcamp.com/album/the-mystic-quest-for-metal-a-tribute-to-the-music-of-final-fantasy-mystic-quest

And this, which is a joke album (so again, your mileage may vary): http://ffmq.olremix.org/

By the way, this is the ELEVENTH thread posted here dedicated to FFMQ. I thought everyone hated the game because it wasn't a "real" Final Fantasy, but apparently not!

What I find even more Intersting is that there are remixes for the songs in FFMQ, but they're all scattered across the net. aside from the songs posted at KNGI, there's a few on youtube, soundcloud, and other places but not one has been posted on OCRemix as far as i know(I could be wrong here). But yeah, I have to agree that Simple and effective is what was working best back then(still does now to). Well I'm Interested lol:mrgreen:

  4. Now I'm really, REALLY cautious about posting up the guile theme remix im working on. Specifically for one reason only....guitar lol. other than that, I'm going for a slow, cinematic type feel to it so this remix is around 87-89 bpm. other than that still working on the song itself, but I figure OCR can point some things out since its better to let a fresh pair of ears listen to your tracks for a different opinion on things, so I posted up a little clip to give a general idea. If anything I'm hoping to see if i can get a live player for the guitar solos but untill then, its the same lead. any feedback much appreciated!

  5. I was deciding on making an album or EP to get my name out (foot in the door, which ever analogy you want to use lol) but as it stands I don't have quite enough info to make proper moves towards that. so I was wondering, for those who have sold albums, EP's, LP's, and the like, how did you go about promoting yourself? any info would help a great deal!

  6. for a second i almost thought this was made by the black mages lol. this is a good track man. now then...I don't know if the sound effect you used in the beginning of the song is supposed to sound like that but I almost hear pumping. maybe its me im not sure but im definitely hearing something. the riffs around 1:40 on did you want the reverb to blend in like that? if so than good, if not, around 1:47 it starts to get drowned in. you can hear it a bit but barely. other than that, everything else about it was awesome man. I think you got yourself a winner:-)

  7. Thanks for pointing that out to me rockos. Now that i know how to eq pretty much everything properly now ( parametric eq2 is a godsend lol) I'll see if I can take care of it. I'll post up the adjustments later on today to get more feedback. afterwords, I'm posting it up so hopefully It'll pass through the judges. Was going to do it with my SF2 bison remix, but when the project file got corrupted that went out the window, so hopefully this track will do some justice.

  8. Good to be back in so many ways lol. Compression on the piano's sounds like a good idea.......but a piano solo from swann sounds even better XD! I know what your talking about with the 1:10 part but eq'ing smultiple sustain instruments and synths is a tricky buisness in itself thats why I had my doubts about the mixdown. For the most part im definitely taking your suggestion down and look over the piano. Thanks for the help swann

  9. Nice track. But I have a problem with your electric guitar. It sounds computer made and not hand played.

And the break at 1:59 is way cool for me :)

Haha nice sephiroth add-on into this!

At some place the mix feel more like FF6. Like 3:30 and around.

    Anyway nice and neat track.

your right about the guitar, rockos. I was going to use electri6ity for the lead guitar (love my les paul set up) but that thing, just like kontakt and FL Studio, is ram hungry lol. so to save ram I decided to use some guitar synth from nexus but as you hear dosen't sound to human lol. nice call on the ff6 bits though, i slightly used a melody from the decisive battle, but you should be able to hear the part if you listen closely. but other than that how does the mixdown sound to you?

  10. Hey I liked this track, cool mix of synth and orchestral stuff and styles. That weird break in the middle thew me a bit, but hey was pretty fun to listen to.

I thought the intro bit was a bit repetitive/prolonged, but yeah def some interesting interpretations of FF7 in there, maybe even a bit too liberal in some places for my liking - but like I said, def fun to listen to =)

mind elaborating a bit when you talked about the "break in the middle"? i have a good idea where your talking about but just to be sure.

  11. After waiting a couple of months to get my monitor situation handled ( I refuse to have bad mixes due to bad equipment aka 20 buck headphones) i decided to tackle a classic from final fantasy 7. love the song but didnt want to stay to close to it since you have to add some original parts of your own ( since this is short sourced this is no problem for me). finished it already but just as a precaution, i want a different pair of ears to listen to my mixdown to tell me if anything is off per se. comments and feedback much appreciated:grin:

  12. I addressed some of the mixing issues you had, Gario. I think the bass and kick are much clearer now, and I added another couple of layers to the snares/claps to crisp it up. I haven't varied the drums, although they certainly could use some treatment. That'll be the last thing I do because I want the arrangement completed before I write any transitions. My transitions tend to have a lot of moving parts, so I like to have all the parts in place before I decide what to do with 'em.

Ok I got a question for you. when you did the piano part in the begining around 1:05 did you put ping pong delay on it? cause for a split second my ears almost decived me and thought the song was pumping. you can keep the delay on it but turn down the delay volume down a little bit.
