  1. This album is absolutely fantastic. Jazz is, by far, my favorite musical genre and Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite VGM OSTs. You guys really did this justice - the arrangements are compelling and the performances are amazing. The album really does feel like one cohesive set that was performed and recorded live and not pieced together from performers all over the world. So much so that I kept expecting to hear clapping at the end of the opening track, haha. I'll be listening to this for a long time. Bravo!

  2. On second thought, I will have to pass. I LOVE the idea but I realized I just won't have enough free time September & October to participate to the fullest extent. Plus I'm not familiar with the GB MM games and was hoping for the NES classic series. Regardless, I'll definitely check out the mixes and vote. Good luck everyone!

  3. It's always a pleasure to work with these fine gentlemen! This track has been a looooong time coming and I'm glad we were able to finish it and get it out here for ya. And major thanks to the OCR staff for posting it! :)  Happy New Year everyone!

EDIT:  I just realized it wasn't pointed out in the write-up, but I hope you guys notice that in addition to having José on the track, Paul also sampled a line ("clique called Chaotix") from 'Unknown from M.C.' throughout this mix ;)

  4. I'm loving this one, so many good tunes and interesting EDM styles represented here! I think I personally like it more when albums specifically go for a consistent theme and feel throughout; it really helps create a sense of unity between all the tracks. It's what I tried to do with 'Temporal Duality' to a certain extent. Nothing wrong with compilation albums, I just prefer a nice cohesive feel. I think this executed that idea flawlessly. I like all the tracks, but I've really been jamming to DDRKirby's, RobKTA's, and DJ RoboRob's tracks so far. Well done everyone!

  5. - 'Electric Moves & Cephalod Grooves' - SuperiorX (check the volume and upper treble EQ of the lead at 0:53 - 1:19 and other spots where it shows up; also, maybe think of an ending, but not crucial)

I actually think my other track is a lot better  but both you guys picked this one, hah. If this thing actually happens (I have my doubts, as I feel like we always propose making a compilation 'best of' album after every compo but they never get off the ground because people have other things to do), then I'd be happy to take a stab at cleaning up whichever track(s) people want to include. Eventually I plan on cleaning up my other track (Release the Kraken), but I just haven't gotten around to it yet, perhaps next month. If I were to clean up 'Electric Moves' then yeah I'd definitely make a proper ending (I hate fade outs; just ran out of time with this one) and do a few other things. Thanks!

  6.  TBH, the music I'm most comfortable writing is probably funky EDM, but I don't want to do that *all* the time

Nothing wrong with funky EDM all the time   #noshame

And yeah I thought there was quite a bit of variety in this compo;  from all the vocal tracks, Jason's choirs, Maverick Astley, some of the more experimental tracks people like timaeus22222222222 and Usa came up with. Good stuff!

  7. ... on the plus side all the censoring stuff did make for one of these cool musical tricks you refer to in your lyrics ;) Really liked that little gimmicky bit, almost more than my own gimmick!

We had some ideas floating around for some raps too, unfortunately didn't get around to it. Awell, there's always next compo.

There's always this week. You guys need to respond to that fire the Rock Hard Mandrils were spittin'. You gonna let them talk about you like that? :o
