  1. Thanx Millipede. Yeah the original voices were a pain in the arse to denoise.

Happy to see some support for the next releases. I'll need some!

Anyway, I realized the album was pretty large, so here's how I'm planning to do it: I'm going to remix most of the 40 tracks, that's for sure.

But as I'll probably start a lot of WIP every week, to finish, schedule & release tracks on my own on a regular basis would be impossible.

I have to consider at least normal life+work time, and be realistic about this.

So I'll post preview instead. By that I mean sneak peaks, so you can hear whats coming next and follow the 'project', if you want to.

And I'm planning to finally release the whole when it's complete, before the end of the year as I said.

Then maybe create a proper thread / website also.

Bottom line, this album will be remixed! So hopefully see you next week. ;-)

  2. That's a tricky situation indeed...

Even in the thread, tracks don't seem to receive a LOT of criticism.

The main problem of leaving the tracks feedback to the forum readers, is that it depends a whole lot on if they are going to read, listen and be willing to review.

There's an awful lot of projects running together, and unfortunately the average length of a day is still only 24h for everyone.

Each person is gonna pick the one game or style he or she is fond of, and maybe not bother with the rest.

That's why generally, the rating of the tracks for a project is a join effort between the team leader (or album director) & the co-coordinators.

Sometimes the director can prohibit posting tracks on the thread or WIP section, for the sake of keeping it fresh & contained, in case something happens...

And by what I've read, it often does.

Bottom line, the solution may involve selecting a small group of knowledgeable and dedicated people to assist you in this task.

Plan regular (net-)meetings to check the progress and fix the next milestone. Like some kind of production comitee I guess.

This may seem big in proportions, but I assure you it only requires a little bit of organisation... and time of course!

But it can help you bring together the whole thing and motivate people toward the same goal.

  3. Some people clearly mistook the compo for a Super Metroid speedrun...

How is it even possible to make a song in 15 minutes, that's insanely fast!

You can't even load a proper VST in that amount of time.

And no one warned me about the mean Mr Nekofrog. He scared the hell out of me so bad.

  4. The worst thing you can do is nothing. So do something friday nights, listen to Radio ThaSauce Live. You won't regret it.

    Got that right! ;-)

I got a suggestion to make: between songs, you have a little talk.

I heard you playing some short musical jingle (zelda I think) before and after.

But while you're talking, there's no background music at all.

That seemed a bit odd, and sounded more like a talk show all of a sudden.

Implementing that imo could help preserving the mood, and smoothly transition to the next song.

Other idea: I don't know if it's technically possible, but it could be really cool if you mixed the music, like any other radio station, crossfade and all.

Of course these are only my suggestions...

  5. It's kind of disappointing that these games get overlooked so much, but maybe now that someone (you) is actually giving them a shot it will get other people interested too.

I not sure about that, but let's keep an open mind just in case. ;-)

I might have to try my hand at remixing if I want to hear some of these songs get remixed (though don't expect me to post anything soon, I've got a long way to go).
Thanks for doing this project DJ Mokram. This is a pretty impressive undertaking for one person, and it won't be forgotten soon.

Well, there's a lot of great & very helpful tutorials and guides on OCR. I used some myself & that saved me a lot of time.

But if that project ( and the love for Treasure games) manages to motivate you enough to start at remixing, that would be fabulous!

Next track should be up on friday night, if all goes well.

Please keep in mind that this is a very modest personal project, as I'm still learning lots of things.

Hopefully, that'll be the best way to figure things out while having fun ...by covering almost 40 tracks by myself! :-D

  6. Allright,

So overall improvement since last version. Much cleaner, drums A ok.

But the wind intruments still seem a bit cheap at times. Not a big deal.

I really liked your little improvisation at the end, refreshing.

The only real complain I have, is that it seems the main part repeats itself a little too often.

Maybe you could had another variation mid-song to diversify your piece.

I'm looking forward to your 'fine tunning' on this one.

    Keep it up.

  7. Of course Biohazard need some love.

But to me, that Wesker Theme from Bio4 Mercenaries is untouchable as is.

It's an ode to killing zombies... or plagas for that matter.

So many memories of sending the Ganados fly with Wesker's trust punch.

  8. I'm not overly familiar with the PSP, but the only real RPGs I've heard of for it are Crisis Core and some various remakes, which I've already played elsewhere for the most part. What else has it got?

Some 'Tales of' games, or the Disgaea serie. But there's obviously more on the DS considering the Snes library remakes.

Crisis Core is one of the games I anticipated the most, as was Dirge of Cerberus but that's another story.

I liked it a lot but was just pissed off because basically FFVII DoC was like the test engine for Crisis.

Anyway, for a handheld game it sure was visually impressive. The atmosphere and music were right on mark, even though Uematsu wasn't in control. And the story got me hooked till the end.

Only drawback: the side quests... er, missions. Past some point, it just reveal the monotony of the landscape.

And fighting 45 Genesis clones in one dungeon isn't going to make me want to get every invocation or piece of equipment hidden in there.

The main quest is wonderful and answers most of the questions we had in mind previously. The fan-service was solid too.

Crisis is one of the greatest game of the PSP, and an awesome A-Rpg overall.

  9. I'm glad not to be the only one thinking that there's an obvious lack of investment in this piano-remix process!

It just sounded a bit cheap to me, and by that I don't mean the sample quality.

Meanwhile, work is in progress. I Should be posting a new remix this week.

By the way, I'm planning to go for a one track per week basis, and hopefully cover all the album before the end of the year.

That will of course never be promotted as an OCR album, as I got no star power and credibility. So no one would like to collaborate.

Considering the time since this thread have been around, not so many people seem to be interested in making or listening to Treasure remixes.

So for the people that have posted here or follow this topic, and seem to value one of the greatest and under-represented title and soundtrack ever:

This little project will be for you. I hope you'll appreciate it.

  10. Very recently, someone went to the trouble of redoing most of the tracks in piano version.

You can check them here. Maybe he was reading this thread, and he got impatient...

Anyway, it bugs me that this sounds like plain midi renditions in piano.

    What do you think?

  11. I've done quite a bit of hip-hop in my days, but that was quite unique.

It wasn't aimed to performance in terms of flow, unfortunately, I couldn't understood the lyrics.

But the beat was highly dangerous indeed... and the views are increasing steadily I see.

    Keep it up.
