  1. Hey, thank you, guys! I've updated the post with download links and the album cover.
  2. Hello everybody! I'm excited to announce the release of my new album Big Steel Wheels — a fictional action music journey through heavy electronic progressive riffs and melancholy vibes! Big Steel Wheels was inspired by film scores from the '80s, particularly those of Rocky IV and The Transformers: The Movie by composer and performer Vince DiCola. The album consists of 13 tracks containing about 55 minutes of music. A number of special guests are also featured, including: Stemage, Danimal Cannon and Raz Ben Ari on guitars; Jeff Ball on viola; Alexander Brandon, Disasterpeace, George "norg" Nowik and Lamont Bellsarios as voice actors. Big Steel Wheels is mixed and mastered by Megus. BIG STEEL WHEELS is available to download via Bandcamp - http://c-jeff.com/album/big-steel-wheels Loudr - http://loudr.fm/release/big-steel-wheels/FHDKb Video teaser produced by Shamoozal: (click the image for video teaser)

  4. Thanks much, guys! I was working on it for about half-a-year, primarily by evenings, not regularly, so it is quite hard to determine the total time I spent. I should count it more accurately next time The way I was writing this album was something new for me. When with Konami I just wanted to create a few songs, where one goes to another via transitions, with Electric I used to write as far as get with ideas to continue the song, this time I thought about some kind of more structured piece initially. Using one main theme, that I variate through the album here and there and general harmonies I wanted to emphasize it especially. So, originally it was supposed to do a few pretty heavy epic songs (Part 2, Part 4, Part 6 as now), one slow song (Part 3), something-like-bridge (Part 5), intro (Part 1) and epilogue titles (Part 7). The way I was writing epics itself, of course, was one way or another similar to the ones I made for Electric, but this time I tried to did it more "completed", like intension's increasing through the song or some references. Oh, I also should mention, that at first I planned to make a 20-minutes song out of Parts 2 and 4, but then changed my mind. Probably this is task for my next take

  6. "Once upon a time Denis Grachev made a game for the ZX Spectrum. The game was called Alter Ego and it was pretty sweet, so Shiru decided to do an NES port. Since the ZX Spectrum couldn't really handle playing music while running a game at the same time, the original version of the game had no music. That's where I came in! Using Famitracker to interface with Shiru's NES music engine, I created a soundtrack which would fit in the <9 KBs available. Shiru's engine gave me 31 instruments to work with, no possibility of changing duty cycle outside of at the very start of an instrument, no effects and no volume column...so the results were fairly limited. Those are the "classic" tunes. But then Denis Grachev got ahold of me directly and asked if he could use the tracks for a Windows Phone 7 port of the game that he wanted to make. I decided that instead of taking the lazy way out and saying "sure go ahead", I would remaster the tracks and make enhanced versions using the full capabilities of Famitracker. So here it is, my first full game soundtrack and my first album release on Ubiktune! Hope you enjoy! Special thanks to Denis Grachev for making an awesome game, and special thanks to Shiru for putting together an amazing NES version! Also a special shout-out to the #ancat crew: lunardave and miau and heos and rushjet et al" — Kulor. Game available on ZX Spectrum, NES and Windows Phone 7. 9. We are two Western composers, who have taken a great deal of inspiration from Japanese pop and game music. When we heard the music for eroge on the PC-98 in the 90s (particularly "Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO" by Ryu Shimada and Ryu Umemoto), we were amazed by the sound quality of the songs and their catchy and sophisticated style. Because this music doesn't get much attention in the west, we decided we should make a tribute album to this sort of music. We asked Swedish artist Diana Jakobsson to draw us characters and American pixel artist Jordan Chewning to provide us with authentic PC-98 style cover art. We hope you enjoy it! 1. オープニング ~ 古木 / Opening: Ancient Tree (3:02) 2. 学校初日 / First Day of School (2:23) 3. エンディング ~ スルー・ザ・アトモスフィア / Ending: Through the Atmosphere (3:51) All music and concept by Ken "coda" Snyder & Steven "surasshu" Velema Artwork by Jordan Chewning & Diana Jakobsson http://ubiktune.org/releases/ubi024-yogurtbox-tree-of-knowledge http://yogurtbox.com

  13. Sorry, but unfortunately there were some technical works from the host side. Now everything works good.
  14. At it's heart, Control Me is an honest expression of Jay Tholen's love for the Gospel. Most of the compositions were conceived as humble little hymn-like ukulele tunes. Following the tradition of unnecessary embellishment; Jay layered the songs beyond recognition until they became what they are now: schizophrenic heaps of sound. Everything from Shoegaze to Prog Rock to Schmaltzy 50's Pop is emulated beneath layers of manipulated waveforms and vinyl samples. http://ubiktune.org/releases/ubi018/
  15. Irish jazz-musician Jork presents an unusual combination of FM, 8-bit sound, orchestra and electronic synths in his album titled "Superannuated". It features nine jazz-fusion/avant-garde compositions, combining complex chords and virtuoso solos with melodic soundscapes and rich harmonies. http://ubiktune.org/releases/ubi017/
  16. After summer break Ubiktune is back on stage. Two updates: re-release of NES-based "Sky Burial" by Prizmatic Spray as MP3/FLAC/ALAC as well as the original Renoise tracker files, and guitar+synths progressive "Atomic Insanity" by Darkman007 are added to our catalog. Stay tuned, more to come. http://ubiktune.org/releases/ubi015/ When the vibes of videogame music meet progressive metal, "Atomic Insanity" is born. Seven stellar guitar-based instrumentals with layers of synths over them on the debut release of the inimitable Darkman007. http://ubiktune.org/releases/ubi016/
