  1. New version: Alright, so I've reworked the mix, and it now has more on the production side of things. I think the drums sound kind of flat still, though I'm not sure how to fix that, and the song seems like it should be longer, but I don't know what else I should add. Anyway, I tried to add a bit more variation in the volume of the mix and the beat of the drums, and I removed the source sample at the end. So, questions, comments, critique? It still seems like it's missing something, but until I can figure out what it is, I'm open to suggestions. And here's the source: Megaman X - Zero's Theme 1 Also, still open for guitar samples! I'm a decent guitar player myself, and I think I could play the parts. Unfortunately, I have none of the prerequisite hardware to record live instruments. So, yeah... (And Editing a post doesn't bump the thread, apparently... So disregard the first post now...)
  2. Alright, so here's a song I wrote for a game I would like to make at some point. I'm not really sure if I'll use the song, but I like it anyway. Just wondering what you guys think I could do to make it even better. Mainly wondering about production and mastering techniques, since I don't plan on changing much of the song itself, unless someone points out something that just needs to be changed.

  4. Wow... Curse you and your amazing song! Seriously though, that really does sound like a Sonic track. Good show old chap, good show. My only nitpick is the solo seems to take precedence over the other instruments, and older (genesis era) Sonic songs had that strange ability to hide the solo within the other parts of the song. Still, I think you definitely managed to capture that "Sonic" feel I was talking about. Sweet music.
  5. I'm in to games, to the point I want to make them. And music happens to be one of the areas of games that I dabble in. Sonic 1-3 and S&K have always held a special place in my memories, and the music stands out just as much today as it did when I was younger. So here's the deal. I've tried my hands at writing music for a fictitious Sonic game, (which I would like to make at some point) and some of the songs are decent, but that got me wondering. What would others' Sonic music sound like? So I challenge the mixers of OCRemix to try their hands at a Sonic track. Can you capture the adventurous spirit? The carefree attitude? Or most importantly, the energy of the fastest thing alive? The track has to be original work! No remixing of songs allowed. This is just for fun; to be voted on by commentators here to see if your song has the classic "Sonic" feel. Just make sure to mark it in some way (such as having SMC - Sonic Music Challenge, in the title). Anyway, whenever I get the time I will post some of the Sonic songs I have done here for all to hear. Good luck to any who wish to submit, and have fun!
  6. Thanks for the link suggestions Rozovian. So here's the midi, in all it's byteful glory: http://www.mediafire.com/?qguih0xt5om Any suggestions about the mix would be appreciated. - Kurushi
  7. Hello to everyone on OCRemix. As you can tell this is my first post on this site, and I've got this song here that I just finished. It is the spontaneous brainchild of listening to too many Sonic 3 and Knuckles tracks and their many mutated offspring. Anyway, all I have at the moment is a sad little midi file. It is supposed to be a jazzy, symphonic piece reminiscent of Flying Battery/Lava Reef/Chemical Plant and other such musax. Now, I should be able to do something decent to orchestral instruments, but I could really use the help of someone with better guitar recording skills than I. Since, while I do play, I have no means of getting the guitars sounds on to my computer (they won't stick to the case for some reason...). If anyone would be willing to lay down a lovely little riff or three, it would be greatly appreciated (of course other instruments are appreciated too!). - Kurushi (also, how would I go about getting said track on the internets? if you would be so kind...)
