  1. @Overflow: Isn't it clear by now that Nintendo is the company that people can point to when they feel like exaggerating and blowing things way out of proportion to satisfy their irrational hatred?

Copying and pasting Kotaku's stupid voice chat article that ASSUMES for some reason that Wiii U won't support bluetooth headset devices, which seem like the easiest way to chat online with the system, and then everyone believes for a fact that the system doesn't and get in their head that it will be 'complicated' to voice chat on the system. I don't see how it's any more complicated than what Sony has in place on the PS3. And don't even tell me you wouldn't have minded hearing everyone's button-presses and the noises of fumbling around with their controller if Nintendo had allowed online voice chat with the GamePad microphone.

People are acting like Wii U won't support voice chat of any kind and games that support online multiplayer won't have that feature. Give me a break. How exactly are Nintendo "falling behind" in offering online chat if they actually do support the option (and at the same level of their competitor?) I'll remind you that PlayStation 3 doesn't support cross-game chat nor does it have a microphone in their controller. How is Nintendo the disgrace?

Well that article also says that cross game chat is not currently universal, which is, frankly, silly. Additionally, why are the different outputs for game chat audio? Some will use the jack on the game pad, some will allow audio via USB. I don't understand why they wouldn't tell devs that it has to go through both. Suppose you want to play with the wii u pro controller and the game only supports audio through the game pad? And finally, in the midst of all this talk about game hat why wouldn't they just go ahead and say whether or not the console would support Bluetooth headsets? Lots of questions and not enough direct answers. We're a little less than a month from release details would be nice.

  2. Not entirely sure if this is the right subforum for my thread but if it isn't, I'm sure it'll get moved there.

Just looking for some of the funkier ReMixers. I'm kind of a light lurker so I'm really not up on the who's who and what they do around these parts. Virt, Joshua Morse and Melody instantly come to mind but I'm sure there are others out there and it'd be cool to actually keep up with the folks that I dig. Suggestions?

  3. It's kinda awesome that the first track to REALLY blow my mind with it's drumming was Zircon's Ragol Weather. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I was a rabid PSO fan at one point. Check it out if you haven't already:

KC Roberts & The Live Revolution have redefined, at least to me, what it means to be funky. This may not be the showiest performance Chino (the drummer) has put on but it's fun as hell:

Now if you're looking for something to work your brain a little more, check out ALL of Brotherly's first album, 'One Sweet Life'. Serious stank face material. They play with time like they created it in the first place. This song isn't the absolute best example of crazy stuff but it's still a great groove:

  4. Music today is FAR better than it's ever been before and I've been saying that my entire musical life. Seriously though, the amount of amazing stuff out there is absolutely brain numbing, in the best way possible, of course. In my opinion, the state of music as a whole can ONLY get better, never worse. Then again, I love Lady Gaga ;).

  5. I know it's already been said but DEAR LORD WAS NIER'S SOUNDTRACK FAKKING AMAZING! I'm not one to cry but that game got me closer than I've been in a very long time and the music was a huge part of it. Absolutely magical. Every time I listen to the soundtrack the full emotional impact of the game hits me like a train.

I also really dug the soundtrack to Mirror's Edge. Most of it was really spacey and ambient without a strong melodic structure but I felt it really meshed well with the game and they could be good remixing platforms.

  6. So even while being mostly wide-eyed and drooling all over the place at MAGFest this year(remember going to Toys R Us as a kid? Yeah, just like that.), I managed to catch some video of a jam in Will's room. Lots o' music was played and much fun was had! Unfortunately, I ran out of space before the 90s covers but I've spared you my horrible singing... well most of it. Anywhoozle, enjoy!

Hope to see more of you guys at MAGFest XI!

  7. Something inside me wants to hate dubstep but I'll be damned if I could tell you why. If I had to guess it would be because so many tracks I've heard take what would be an amazing chill/lounge electronic groove and destroy it. But even with that, I always seem to find some awesome dubstep track just about every other day.

    Latest find:

  8. I'm gonna jump on a totally different bandwagon and recommend Bioshock, if you haven't checked it out yet. I was hesitant for awhile, but I can say this: while it's not immediately apparent that the story is all that impressive, it all takes an incredible series of turns partway through. If nothing else, the game leaves you thinking, and did an incredible job of weaving in storytelling with gameplay.

As much as I want to try BioShock, I'm too scared to play it. I wish I were kidding but I don't do so well with scary stuff, lol. I actually sold my copy of Dead Space once before I completed it for that exact reason.

    Beyond Good & Evil.

I love the look of the game but the camera controls feel like they were made specifically to make me hate them. I'll give it another shot though.

  9. Skies of Arcadia definitely.

Also Tales of Symphonia was a great one too. It's a good JRPG and the story is captivating, but I don't know about touching or "powerful." It was powerful to me in the sense that I was very interested in the characters and events.

I've played all of Vesperia and a bit of Symphonia and I think I can safely say that I love the Tales series. The stories are simple enough but they're done in such a way that they really grab me. I'm seriously gonna cry if Xilla doesn't make it to America.

It suddenly occurs to me that I love a lot of games...

Also, as blasphemous as this sounds I have a hard time liking many 2D RPGs with the exception of Golden Sun. I know, I know, I'm a terrible person and my parents did a terrible job raising me .

  10. Metal Gear Solid Series - Love it. Still need to play 3 and 4. Didn't pay as much attention to the story as a should have when I played but I'll get to it again.

Assassin's Creed - Love it. I'd say the story is good but not powerful if that makes sense. Cool story but it didn't really hit me like some games have.

Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door - Haven't played it but I'll give it a look.

Fallout 3 - Didn't like it along with everything else by Bethesda. Their games aren't bad by any means but they aren't for me at all.

Viewtiful Joe - Love it. It's like the essence of awesome distilled into disc form. That said that was a game I liked much more for it's gameplay that the story, which fit the game perfectly but wasn't a heavy hitter in my book.

Chrono Trigger/Cross - I've heard good things and plan on picking these up soonish.

FFVII - played it when I was a kid but never got anywhere. I definitely plan on giving it another shot along with a ton of other FF games (VIII, X, X-2, XII, XIII)

Heavy Rain - I've heard good things about it but I've been guaranteed by a good friend that I'd hate the gameplay, lol.

Dragon Age - With the exception of Fable I don't seem to like western "fantasy" RPGs at all (Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, anything with the LOTR vibe).

Valkyria Chronicles - LOVE IT! One of my all time favorite games for both the story and the gameplay. Was disappointed by 2.

Skies of Arcadia - A friend suggested me this a while ago and I'm definitely gonna give it a shot.

    Keep the suggestions coming :).

  11. So, I'm on another RPG kick and I've finished up Resonance of Fate and I'm in the middle of playing Nier. I LOVE the stories of both. RoF didn't have the best story-telling but the story itself, I think was great. I'm around the half-way part in Nier and it is beautiful. As the main character you have an objective but then there's this huge mystery about the world and the characters themselves. So, any suggestions? I'm a fan of dark stories with taboo elements - anything that hits your heart as well as your head.

  12. Sorta-kinda-maybe? Well that'd be the best short answer I could give so let me give the longer version.

Some of my first memories (~3 y.o.) are with video games but I dabbled in playing music since about 5th grade. Around 9th grade I actually started listening to music besides Michael Jackson and Weird Al and around 10th I actually got serious about playing an instrument (bass guitar). Throughout all that... I still have no idea why I like what I do, lol! I listen to a lot of music pop, hip hip, metal, jazz, funk, fusion, and loads of other crap that probably couldn't place genre-wise. Generally though, the music I like in video games tends to be pretty different from the music I like outside of them.

Rarely, I'll come across something like Final Fantasy X-2, Marvel Vs. Capcom or Bayonetta where the soundtrack is made up of music that I really dig that doesn't sound even remotely video game-like but then you have games like Sonic (original) and Megaman which I like just as much but have the "clearly video game music" thing going on. I guess I could say that neither really affects the other because I usually don't really make much of a distinction between the two, I just look at music that I like... as music that I like, haha.

  13. Bass is best.

I keep telling girls that but they never believe me

I like that it's sitting on a Scarface-esque mound of cocaine.

    Also, welcome to place SuperBrother

    I should warn you though

DarkeSword is a great guy and deserves your respect

And I'm not being sarcastic, he's cool, don't be a dick

    Hola Brandon :)!

I've met DrakeSword on the chat. Dunno if he remembers me or not though. He's a cool guy.

  14. I wanted to post an introduction where people might actually see it but if it's against the rules... well I guess I just got my first infraction, eh :<? Anywhoozle, long-time intermittent lurker but thanks to a few friends I've decided to actually try and get involved in the community and maybe get a mix up some time soonish. I'm a bass player (I getz funky) by trade but I'm hoping to expand a bit into piano and guitar.

Been hangin' around ocr irc channel and playing lots of mahvel on PS3... at least I was doing the second unitl... you know . Both have been loads of fun though. Lookin' forward thoroughly annoying everyone with my newbtitude!

  15. I am having WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much fun with this game since I got it. Started out awful and I'm working my way to decent, lol. I need to work on varying my moves and combos a little more but there's nothing more satisfying that to just rush Hulk or Sentinel down with Zero and know that you've got it in the bag, lol.
