  1. Thanks for your comment and very good suggestions! A white noise riser is a great idea and I think I agree about the melody. It doesn't quite hit as strong as the original, perhaps too much subversion but also I think there's a few notes that I couldn't get quite right. Such good memories of a lot of games from this era though. Just something about them is so memorable.
  2. It's been a short while but I've revisited this project to give it some polish. I got some new headphones for Christmas so I had another go at fixing the mix and I think I've done an OK job this time. I also changed a bunch of other stuff like the bassline, hat loops and the main melody is now completely new albeit still keeping to that classic main Tomb Raider theme as much as I could. I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think. Cheers.
  3. Hi, it's been a while since I've visited this site and coming back here gave me a rare peace of mind that comes from seeing something that has, thankfully, never changed. This site and the amazing remixes people have made helped me more than the authors may ever know. Thanks for all your sick tunes but a special mention to Unreal Tournament - Foregone Destruction. Man, that tune spoke directly to my soul but also to my love of popping heads in that awesome map! A few weeks ago the main theme for the original Tomb Raider popped up in my head out of the blue and since I've been into synthwave lately I thought I'd have a bash at a remix. I always preferred this game over the later ones purely because of the puzzle like aspect to the movement and that theme music is just like when the sun hits that ridge just right. I'm working on some better mastering at the moment and perhaps the arrangement or something needs work. Hope you like it! Edit: Version 2 has some tweaks to the overall sound. Added some light EQ, sat, comp and a touch of reverb. Edit: Version 3 has a more polished flow, new melody and some high hat stuff as well as a better overall mix though I think it still needs a tad more umphh.
  4. Hi DarkSim, Thanks for the great feedback. I like all those ideas and have experimented with a few but I've especially tried your idea to add a break to little avail unfortunately. I'll keep at it though because your definitely right about giving the drums a rest Not tried any counter melodies yet but yeah that would really give the tune a fresh feel, although I'm nearly intimidated by how crazy awesome Grant's melodies are. Thanks again dude for the good ideas. Time to experiment some more
  5. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48542022/Maz%20K%20-%20Funktilda%27s%20Lair%28master%29_01.mp3 Hi, I've been a lurker on this site for what must be nearly a decade now and never really thought to upload a track but I've been working on a remix of Grunty's Lair and it would be great if anyone has any feedback for it. I've been playing a ton of Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie recently and I had to remix a song from BK. On my way back from work one night I got the Grunty's Lair theme from BK stuck in my head so I began beat boxing to it (as you do ) and when I got home I started a track. It's still a little rough and the end needs some work. Also I can't shake the feeling something is missing throughout. Remix Name: Funktilda's Lair Game: Banjo-Kazooie (Nintendo, 1998, N64) ReMixer: Maz K Composer Grant Kirkhope Song: Gruntilda's Lair Thanks for your time guys, I look forward to anything you got to say
