OCR03026 - Castlevania: Bloodlines 'Red Pearl'
OverClocked PodCast replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Unholy cow, there's so much going on at 3:20 and every bit of it is amazing. I don't think I really understood what was going until the end, and then I wanted to start over from the beginning. Color me impressed. -
OCR03025 - Final Fantasy VI 'Strange World'
OverClocked PodCast replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wow, this song is nuts. Talk about shifting moods-- jarring in a good way. I would never have pegged it as a WillRock production until the giveaway at 3:10. And the ending, that's hair-raising stuff. -
Man, talk about a pumped up intro. I was on the edge my seat for a good minute as the song built up to those unforgettable notes that remind us all of the noble madness behind Metal Gear. I would have liked the Jungle bit to have meshed with more natural grace into the rest of the ReMix, but I can't say no to the guitar and synth joining forces for one heck of an ending (abrupt as it may be). Also, I think you guys would do justice (pun!) to an Ace Attorney project. Maybe ask OA for a few pointers and go!

OCR03022 - Final Fantasy VI 'The Nightmare Oath'

This ReMix is like a radical onion, possessing layers and layers of rad. It's such a pumped up, victorious collaboration of champions! -
OCR03021 - Kingdom Hearts 'Trinity'

That's what was going through my head. I particularly enjoyed the 8-bit-like breakdowns-- they reminded me of halc just a little-- but everything else sounded real run-of-the-mill. Luckily, the mill is a pretty sweet mill and also is good at running. -
I'm notorious for tuning out of lengthy, dark electronic tracks due to a wandering mind that doesn't gravitate towards the style. But once I forced my brain to stop multitasking, I gained an appreciation for the abyss A Derelict Machine conjures. I also love that this is a song, ultimately, about dolphins. Take that, happy-go-lucky, fin-clapping stereotypes!

OCR03013 - Super Mario 64 'See You Next Time'
OverClocked PodCast replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
What a lovely song! That electric guitar is clearly having a good time, and so am I. I get an "everything's going to be all right, so maybe do a little dance" sort of vibe. A fun, fitting end. -
OCR03012 - Sonic Adventure 2 'Graveyard Theory'

Heyyyyy, it's the Zone Runners! I have a soft spot in my heart for Hunnid-P's fast-and-furious-but-trying-a-little-too-hard echidna rap, and I love this goofy, stylish take on it. One of the best songs from you guys yet! -
OCR03009 - Pokémon Red Version 'Polka Center'
OverClocked PodCast replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I saw the title and everything immediately fell into place. Upon listening, I was not disappointed. I love the goofy and the unexpected! -
OCR03008 - Batman 'Cleaning Out Axis'
OverClocked PodCast replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Oh my gosh this is wonderful. I loved every second of it. Joyfully, unapologeticlly 60s/70s with a relentless drive that does the best of the NES proud. The nods to a stupider, more innocent Batman made me smile, too. Other unexpected vibes detected include Mario Kart, Space Channel 5, and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (good old Naganuma). -
OCR03004 - Biker Mice from Mars 'Rock and Ride'
OverClocked PodCast replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I'm with djpretzel all the way-- is it possible that WillRock was writing SNES game tunes in the '90s? Or perhaps it was his esteemed father, WilliamRock. Either way, this is a bodacious ReMix with some killer drum fills! -
OCR03003 - Mirror's Edge 'Clear Reflections'
OverClocked PodCast replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Energetic and inspiring. You can bet this'll get played a lot on my music-playing devices of choice! I have to admit that I did miss the vocals a little bit, foolishly filling the voice with off-key snatches myself, but I started appreciating the song's rhythm even more near the end. -
OCR03002 - Destiny 'Hope Rising'
OverClocked PodCast replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
There's too much talent in this ReMix to handle! Everything about it is perfectly smooth, magical and on point. I loved the surprising, full-fledged optimism on display in the original version, and this more electronic take is super cool. -
Well, congratulations on another colossally cool milestone, and thanks to every last OC ReMixer who helped achieve it! Like Cephalo, listening to the tunes coming out of this place opened new doors, windows, and mysterious floor panels to this amazing world/community. The next thing I knew, I had a thousand OC ReMix songs on my library and a podcast all about game music (which introduced me to new OC ReMix friends). So yeah, keep it up. It's a pretty good website, this. Also, this was a skillfully executed idea and I'm duly impressed!

OCR02999 - Hotline Miami 'Who's There?'
OverClocked PodCast replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Hotline Miami has one of those rare soundtracks that I just don't get. No matter how many times I listen to it, I can't get anything out the dance beats. This ReMix, however, managed to punch up the source and cast the music in such an atmospheric, uncomfortable light that I ended up digging it. Very well done! -
OCR02997 - Deus Ex 'Neonature'
OverClocked PodCast replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Techno/cyberpunk is a hard sell for me, but I can't deny this smooth, layered craftsmanship. The robotic monologue was neat, but the aftermath felt kind of weak until the exciting finish. The whole ReMix has an effortless quality to it.
