  1. This is fantastic, Kelly. Welcome to the 7/8 club!
  2. If you want to find out if we'd accept something, you have to make the mix and submit it. We're not going to say "YES, we will accept something like this" because that's ultimately a pretty meaningless statement. We judge remixes, not ideas for remixes. In any case, there's nothing special about that remix you posted that would preclude it from being judged just like any other electronic remix.
  3. It's been many MANY years since I played around with MIDI files but IIRC, there were a couple of weird subformats that didn't always play well with certain software. They might actually be RMI files with a renamed extensions. I think you can find a converter or something for them to change them into Standard MIDI Files.
  4. Oh man, I remember this track! It was in my top three for that round. Love how this one turned out. X3 Zero theme is used amazingly in this track, as both the syncopated hook and also the backing track for the solo sections. Love the back and forth between aggressive and laid-back soundscapes too. Fantastic!!! YES
  5. Man I'm really feelin' this. I can hear the main motif of Sunshine woven throughout the track, so I have no qualms about source usage. Great atmosphere, awesome performances, relevant lyrics. Excellent. YES
  6. Gotta agree with Larry. The drums feel like they're on auto-pilot for most of the time and the kit's just a really weak soundset. Compared to the awesome sounding guitar work, it's such a disconnect that's kind of jarring. That percussion really need to be beefed up; I really don't think it's doing a good enough job of adding any energy to the song. Love the rest of it though. NO, resub
  7. I really like this one a lot. I was a bit iffy on the lead but the rest of the track is really great. Love how you work in the little fanfares and bits from the game. A really high energy take with some great effects. YES
  8. Just FYI, I've never had issues with people using Soundcloud for their entries in previous competitions.
  9. When you make a thread you need to provide actual information. What is that "SGC thing in Dallas?"
  10. I'd like to attach a graphic to the social group. If someone can put together a nice looking 200x200 px graphic, that'd be cool.
  11. caaaaaaaaake
  12. You guys are in. Amph, it's your choice in whether you want to do an upbeat track for a downtempo track.
  13. I've updated the first post with a confirmed games list.
  14. A very interesting showing of mixes from the competitors. Good job guys. Bit disappointed there's no voting but I suppose that's how it goes sometimes.
  15. The social group for rRPC. http://ocremix.org/forums/group.php?groupid=19
  16. That's really useful for my Hot Dog Witch Doctor build.
  17. Cool man. Enjoy.

  18. This is more of a request than a competition. Compos on OCR need to have more structure to them than just "make me some mixes and I will pick the best one."
  19. There's no other game series that makes the Mushroom Kingdom feel more lived-in than Mario Kart.
  20. Flex and I put together a really large list of artists who we think would be good. It'll probably start off as a "we call you" kind of thing and then fill out the set with contributions as needed. Flexstyle took a break from OCR stuff for a couple of months to focus on school. I believe he's graduated now and is going to be getting back in the swing of things.
  21. Gonna go with Ristar on this one. Classic platformer with great graphics and a killer soundtrack. Played it religiously.
  22. Let's just say someone helped Fenix develop this compo concept from what he started with to what it is now.
  23. There's very little you can do when encoding your MP3s to affect the "artistic outcome" of a track. Past compos have done this to ensure uniform and consistent encoding across the board for when music is released. That way you don't get a release with a jumble of CBR320s, CBR192s, VBR1s, VBR2s, VBR0s, etc. Remixes for compos are released as batches and are tagged and encoded as such. Anyway I'm glad we finally worked through forum issues so that Fenix could get this compo posted up. Needed to delay the next MM compo and Fenix approached me about this idea at the perfect time.
  24. Other M had music?
