  1. LOVE the arrangement in this mix. Really beautiful soundscape, love the layering of fast paced percussion with longer sustained strings and synths. Piano is also used really well, with those big booming bass notes. As Justin said though, that violin's loudness is an issue with the cymbal. The distortion is something that sticks out. Could really use a fix on that! NO (resub)
  2. Short but sweet. Vinnie's right about the 90s R&B vibe. So smooth. Really like the approach here. Great sound choices. Love that bassline jumping all over. Wish it was longer, though. YES
  3. Yeah I'm with Kris on this one. Great production, SUPER repetitive. Some nice ideas but I also felt that this got really sparse in some sections. Would love to see some more development on this track. NO (resub)
  4. Really creative, aggressive mix. I agree that there are some mixing issues, but to be honest, in the grand scheme, I don't think there are any dealbreakers. There are parts where the drums and bass get pretty wild, but you keep everything clear and listenable. Pretty good. Really digging the approach here. I like it. YES
  5. That kick drum is bugging me. Everything else is great, and I'm in agreement with most of the Js about the track. Great arrangement, some problematic mixing. Percussion is really relentless, you know? Fix that kick and we're golden. NO (resub)
  6. This is a pretty bumpin' track. It's got a really nice, clean, old-school sound. Straightforward sound design that works well for what it is. Nice balance between elements. Thought the dubstep section was a little gratuitous. Not much of it, seemed out of place in what feels like more of classic dance track. Nice arrangement. I'm not feeling any dealbreakers like other Js are. I'm good with it. YES
  7. Slightly off-topic, but just to be clear: Amazon is required to charge tax in any state where they have a distro center. Also, technically, you're still supposed to pay sales tax on things you buy on Amazon, regardless of whether they charge you or not at the time of the sale; it's something you're supposed to declare on your income taxes every year. It's just that nobody ever really does it.
  8. Yeah. I think people just got concerned when he was so down on himself. Sad to find out there was such a terrible source for his occasional negativity. RIP Hoops.
  9. Rexy is giving you great advice. There's nothing negative about it. Stop stirring up drama.
  10. Nice arrange, but I'm just gonna echo everything Mikestyles said about compression and dynamics. Needs more range. NO (resub)
  11. I started leveling my Witch Doctor (Doctress? Doctrix?) last night. I'm not sure I get this class. What's the goal here, in terms of play style? What's a good Paragon point distribution for early levels? I am leveling her in Master, BTW.
  12. Someone moved a whole bunch of pins around. All the MD folks are in PA now for some reason.
  13. I think the best part about the new difficulty system is that it's actually a difficulty system that you set, rather than something you have to play through. It's so nice being able to set a difficulty and just play with a challenge; it feels more like it's about knowing how to play and how to use your skills, rather than having better gear.
  14. Leveling on Master is a dream. Got my Monk up to 44 already this weekend.
  15. I don't think anyone thinks that ripping music from a game gives you the rights to that music.
  16. What you should in terms of recruitment is focus on getting really good vocalists. These people don't necessarily have to even be good arrangers or producers; just put the call out for good vocalists with good recording equipment. OCR has its fair share, but probably not enough of them. There are a lot of talented amateurs all over the place; YouTube/SoundCloud/etc. I can help you with outreach if you need, via social media accounts, etc. Just put together your requirements first. Once you find some, you can then pair them up with talented arrangers here at OCR and we can proceed from there, i.e. source selection, lyrics, etc. A fully vocal album is going to be heavily scrutinized; far more so than other traditional albums. We can't settle for vocal performances that are just decent or good enough; we have to shoot for nothing less than perfect. This means we have to turn a critical ear towards all of the material we get, and really focus on things like breath-control and pitch-control and a whole load of other stuff that actual vocalists (i.e. not me) can tell you about.
