  1. Argh, that is bullshit. How long does it take? Fifteen, maybe twenty minutes of dodging? Bleh. I doubt I'll ever get that Meta-Ridley trophy.

The drop rate is much higher if you play on harder difficulty settings. I've had 2 or 3 drop during one fight on the hardest setting. And it only works if they are low on HP, so dodging until it drops isn't the most effective strategy...

  2. Final Fantasy 3: ...was pretty entertaining for a while, but the endgame quickly deteriorates into enemies that can kill you in one hit, even if your at level 70 (which made the necessary grinding feel useless), stupidly long sequences of boss fights, followed by palate swapped bosses-as-creatures that are just as hard as the originals, and then a final boss which can use one hit K.O.s on you for the hell of it. (Although the part where you die and are brought back was clever. Fooled me into turning off the DS in frustration the first time.)

The only thing I didn't like about FF3 for the DS was the fact they toned the difficulty WAY down from the original. Lvl 70 earned you a swift kick to the groin from the end boss as its ONLY move would take half your party's HP every turn. I love that game... but to each his own I suppose.

Hmm... horrible games I've owned... well technically I "owned" Portal Runner for a couple horrifying days before good sense took over and I got rid of it.

It came with a PS2 I got from someone who didn't play it anymore. Still makes me shudder just thinking about it...

  3. I dunno... I can't really criticize that piano at all. He did an excellent job, and looked like he was having fun while doing it.

And we probably heard you yelling. It wasn't the biggest auditorium after all. I think the funniest quote was when the show didn't start like it was supposed to and someone yelled, "Blow on the cartridge!" That was great...

  4. I don't play any MMOs, but if I did, I think it'd be important that people didn't let ingame items or currency have real value.

Well, selling ingame currency for cash is usually forbidden on all MMOs. But its a difficult thing to enforce. Most any game with the ability to trade items or currency between players leaves the possibility of people grinding all day/week/month for said currency in an attempt to sell it for real world cash.

That being said, EVE GMs are usually pretty swift to deal with RMT accounts they see.

  5. Because Ghosts aren't supernatural, right? ;)

Gastlys are essentially sentient balls of well... Gas. And actually... the more I think about it, Gastly is the only species of the Ghost type that I prefer to use.

I've no problem with them being based off of mythical creatures at all either, but when they are portrayed as shifting time/space and/or creating the universe... that's where it loses appeal for me.

That being said, I use Gengar, and Gyrados which both behave more like animals then dieties.

Is it? I've never heard that story take before.

Not a Final Fantasy fan are you?

@cobaltstarfire: I think we're on the same page here.

  6. Well, some pokemon have been shown to be quite intelligent. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch... especially since they are "legendaries". Or being animals, they could get into a fight and accidentally do it (>.>)

Heh, that's why I don't care for DP's legendaries too much. They are exiting the realm of animal, and moving more into the supernatural being category... I dislike that concept for pokemon...

  7. Like I was saying before... they haven't changed the game because they don't need to.

It will probably take a sharp decline in sales to push them do something. Shame to put it like that, but then again, the game is still fine as it is... Adding something like character customization would be cool, but its just fluff. Adding a complex and deep story would be nice, but I don't think its necessary to the game itself, I play to train my team and battle other ppl. A 1-player story is more of a side-quest IMO.

  8. Well I guess it depends on how you look at it really... I don't consider many of those things "ground breaking". They improve the gameplay, but its essentially the same game. You get your 6-monster-squad with 4 atks each, and proceed to lay the pain on any other trainer who decides to battle you.

The game has become a lot more complex, no argument there, but the core of the game is pretty much unchanged. They haven't had a need to redo the game to keep it alive. It just keeps evolving a bit with each generation.

  9. Man, I just had a great match on Battle Revolution last night. It came down to my Torterra vs. a Manaphy. It had a focus sash and was using Rest, plus it was raining so its Hydration ability cured sleep every turn. I finally managed to beat it even through all the confusion caused by Swagger. It was pretty epic as far as the battles I usually get go.

Pokemon never gets old to me... There's always new combinations and strategies out there.

  10. @ eternal Zero. I don't like it when people battle with hacked pokemon because "to me" it ruins the spirit of the game. I mean, if I spend time and effort to breed and train an above average team, and then someone else spends a couple minutes figuring out how to use AR and does the exact same thing... that bothers me.

Its not how the game is supposed to be played imo. I personally consider it cheating.

  11. Dude... you admitted a few pages a go that you use AR... Now you're trying to educate others on how to play the game right? Contradictory at the least.

As for people with the lvl 9 Bibarel requests on GTS, I think its because it increases their chances of finding the pokemon they are looking for. I've noticed that when you have an active offer, you will get a broader selection returned when you do a search for a pokemon. Alternatively... they could just be jack has's.

I have a few bred pokes that have 31s in multiple IVs.

    I didn't think that was possible (o_0) I've never seen a 31, and I've bred a lot of pokemon (x_x)

  12. You're forgetting a few important details.

First, you can use Vitamins (you know, Carbos, Iron and the rest of those items) to get up to 100 EVs, so that's just quicker. Not necessarily cheaper, but once you've gone through the game, you've likely ended up with a pretty hefty amount of money.

Second, most pokémon give out more than one type of EV. Some give out 1 for Attack and 1 for Speed, for instance. Make sure you're battling the right ones. Unless you're using the Power items, then they will convert EVs over. Only a problem if you're using the Macho Brace.

Also, all the Power items and th Macho Brace half your speed, so when training, make sure that you aren't setting yourself up for a battle you can't win if your pokémon is supposed to be faster. It happens sometimes.

"Neglected to mention" would be more accurate, but yes, those are definitely great ways to quickly EV train. I'd recommend www.serebii.net for anyone who wants more info on the subject. Its a pretty reliable site for a lot of the lesser known details.

  13. Why EV train if you're not going to battle them???

Also... EV training doesn't have to take a long time. Just get the bracers from the Battle Tower, and you're pretty much set. They add 4 EVs of a specific type per battle, if the pokemon you're battling gives them naturally. Add in PokeRus, and you're looking at 10 EVs from a pokemon that would otherwise only give 1.

Coming by pokerus is difficult... but I have it, so once I get my router working again, anyone that wants it can PM me.
